Dean Bailey tells the AFL he didn't order players to lose

Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism
PJ_12345 replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was reviewing some of CW's history and found something interesting in regards to the Mifsud/Davey/Neeld race issues: “I can categorically tell you that Jason Mifsud would not have made this up,” Caroline Wilson "Jason Mifsud conceded Aaron Davey never told him that Mark Neeld was treating indigenous players differently in Melbourne's pre-season player meetings." 3AW "Jason now accepts that Aaron didn’t say the words that were published by Grant Thomas and Jason has apologised to Aaron for putting him in the situation where those words were published." Davey and Misfud joint statemen (http://www.3aw.com.au/blogs/3aw-football-blog/mifsud-and-davey-resolve-race-allegation-issue/20120410-1wme5.html) I put it to you - can anyone find a recent, pro-MFC article published by CW? Remember from 30/10/2012 to 3/11/2012 CW has published 6 anti-MFC articles! -

Absolutely agree 100%. It will be a long time till this i over, and I have a feeling it will be one of those issues that will never fully go away. She went way to hard, and I'm really surprised that it got the tick of approval. They shouldnt give her the time of day in the future. I mean whats the worse that could happen? I think we have safely established she isnt our biggest fan -

Again, thats what she should be doing. But you and I know both know the art of journalism has moved to gutter churnalism. Its her job to write articles which sell papers - apparently quality articles arent important anymore, but articles which get peoples attention. Sad sad days. -

What would you rather: 1) The Age as a sponsor and CW not to be sued 2) CW to be sued and lose The Age as a sponsor Remember, its CW's job to write crap like this, and after the past month in the media spotlight would the best thing be to immediately throw ourselves back into it? I'm not condoning her actions, but sometimes you need to see the big picture. What would be best is to get her to make a public apology in one of her articles if its found we didn't tank (which is most likely), less costly, gets us out of the medias attention, and gets the message across. -

Jose I agree with you that the media is driving this but I think the AFL do have an image to protect. The issue of tanking goes much further than us, and if they want to have a transparent game and ensure that teams are not tanking to either get priority picks, ensure home finals (see Freo 2010), or rest key players for other games then they have to do something. Lets remember who started the initial investigation. -

Am I the only one worried about these life bans? The AFL isnt a legal court, no one is under oath. Carlton had a simple interview with Ratten and a game review. But now we have some threatening, court esk, leaking investigation. Not.Happy.Jan -

Remember - one defence to defamation is the truth. If anything comes out of this AFL investigation that would ellude to the MFC tanking then her defence would be solid and we dont have a case. -
Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism
PJ_12345 replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm pretty much utterly speechless. Never have I read such a malicious, inflammatory and aggressive article from such a 'regarded' football reporter. I havent even seen 60 Minutes, let alone A Current Affair, publish something like that. To be honest its just plain wrong. Wrong to mention Jim's legacy, wrong to describe us as "pathetic and disgusting" four times, and wrong to say that Carlton wasnt as bad (not even talk about Collingwood) yet call the us disgusting for the same concept. At no point did she offer any facts, at no point did she offer any form of journalism. That was merely a shock jock move by CW and she has really, really dropped the ball on this one. That brings the anti-MFC articles over the past five days to 7 and I'm sure she will apply those fantastic churnalism skills of hers and write another one later today. -
Tanks for starting this thread

What we as supporters can do if the MFC is punished?!
PJ_12345 replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Regardless of the outcome of the tanking, punishment or no punishment, I'm going to do this. Cant think of a better way to stick it to caro, denham, the AFL and every other person/club. Lets come back harder and stronger! (sounds like a viagra slogan...) Great post Dr. Gonzo- 50 replies

Jeff is the biggest MFC hater going around - last year he was litterally pouring a sand on a cardboard cut out of a demon in melbourne colours. I think people stopped caring a long time ago to the crap that comes out of his mouth, epitomised by his BeyondBlue statements. Getting a statement from Jeff is as easy as getting a homophobic statement from Jason Akermanis He was the sole reason why I wanted Hawthorn to lose this year, and every year after this -

If you dont care about it or individual specifics then dont attempt to raise up topics, which are wrong, and then go cry and resort to immature comments like 'I dont want to play anymore' when someone calls you on your BS. All you had to do was edit your post and move on. I think you well and truly deserve to win a medal on the biggest [censored] out and immature comment on demonland. I think your getting a bit confused. 1. "hasn't it been as transparent in the media as other AFL topics" - let me ask you a simple question, how many clubs talk about how much their player's contracts are worth? Contracts are a no-go-conversation for all clubs, and no one is transparent. 2. "so if they are so proud of the juds deal" - Who is saying they are proud? I said they wouldnt be ashamed. Dont try and change my words. 3. "It may be legal, but that doesn't mean if the public understand it & whats taken place, that they will like it." - This is a weak argument. How much do the public know about AFL rules and I'm sure if you asked any Carlton supporter, Collingwood, West Coast, Essendon and very possibly us if we would be happy to retain a player because some of his salary came from third party dealings I'm sure you would know the answer. The only reason why it was banned was to create greater competitivness and ease the growing gap between rich and poor clubs. 4. "Let s see it put out in black & white print on the paper.. People may eve buy one, just to read it, rather than the cop the public relations blancmange they serve every other day." - I honestly have no idea what you are talking about 5. "I thin the footy public would like to know which clubs are getting a helping hand from these afl friendly rules to some." - No one is getting help from third party dealings in player contracts. As I said earlier, it was banned a long time ago, get over it. I understand what your trying to do, and its fine to have a go at other clubs because you feel that we are being singled out, but ffs make sure what your saying is correct and relevant
