He always conducted himself professionally. I was having a chat with him once at a B&F a couple of years ago and a little kid came up to chat. CS knew his name, remembered the kid played in his clubs grand final, asked how it went and gave the kid his number so he could find out more. Professional and nice guy.

Junior is a great guy and I have no doubt that he would be a good midfield coach - but when people are talking about culture they need to understand what in turn he would bring and if it fits with our current strategy. (lol I was wondering if the beer had wiped this out of me since I studied it at uni) He is like CS: I really like them, but they didn't fit with the overall strategy. This is something that cant be flexible, look at our current results for a good example of what happens when culture and strategy dont facilitate eachother.

It's clear MN's has adopted a 'fresh start' strategy. He did this by bringing in new staff, Misson, Craig, by restructuring the leadership team and with the young Jack's as captains. It would be counterproductive to then bring in old staff and to re-create an old culture. Culture either permits or denies strategy and should reflect it. Interesting to note that CS was one of the only staff to there since DB was coach - his exit keeps in line with this strategy.

Hope you've remembered to buy your tickets to see Nixon! -
Its a good place to get out of dodge and focus on whats coming up this weekend. Good place for training too - alot of great places to swim in the surf, beach running which really tests you and open roads for jogging.

Sad to hear about CS. Met him a few times and a really nice guy. At the end of the day he had to go. Not my particular view but if thats what the majority wanted, and what is needed then so be it. Best of luck CS.

A CLUB IN CRISIS ... THE AFL MUST STEP IN

Jimmy did it in 2008 without AFL intervention. -
So after an 8 month AFL investigation, with 58 interviews with club computers seized, conducted by an ex-police investiagtor and co. which determined that the MFC, and the board were found not guilty of tanking and that this all came down to a comment made by CC which DB acted on you still alledge that we systematically tanked. "Did they know about it or did they not? I think its daming either way" - yeah right, damned if youre found not-guilty and damned if youre found guilty. It's clear they did not know about it, its clear there was no systamatic strategy its clear it was a stupid comment. Move on like everyone else.

A CLUB IN CRISIS ... THE AFL MUST STEP IN

Credit where credit is due, and blame where blame is due. Objectively in my mind the board is doing their job right, staff like Misson and Craig are doing their job right and I believe MN is doing his job right. However most of my blame lies with the players. They have some of the newest/best facilities (Casey and Aami Park) and coaching staff but consistently underwhelm. Change the players or change CS but this mad axe swinging needs to differentiate the pest trees in the forrest - and not log the whole bloody thing. -

In 2008, DB's first year, he lost the first 6 games of the season. When he finally won his first game, the next 6 were all again lost. When he won his second game, the next 5 were all again lost. The final game we won for that season was in round 20 - bringing our total to 3 wins and 19 losses. In 2009, DB's second year, by round 12 we had only won 1 game. In 2012, MN's first year he won more games than DB, and placed the club higher than DB did in his first year. Are you suffering from memory loss there Demonstrative or just got the blinkers on? -
A CLUB IN CRISIS ... THE AFL MUST STEP IN
PJ_12345 replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am genuinely intrigued. People are saying there is a rift between MN and senior players because he treats them like players and dropped alot of his team mates. People are saying the board should be axed - their job is the business side of the MFC, which is in good condition, they aren't the ones seeing the day to day activities or running around on the ground People are saying that there is a rift between CS and the players You forget that the AFL is heavily invested in GWS - they have poured more money into it then they care to walk away from. I want to know what an administrator, and the AFL would do with a Victorian team, who is financially stable and has a strong membership base. Your talking the talk but I want to know your walk. -

What would they administrate rjay? -
The issue is that its a blame game. The blame will be thrown at CS, then to the board, then to MN, then to the water boys and girls, to the magpie that relieved itself on my car yesterday... everyone but the people who actually didn't perform over the past 2 rounds - the players.

Another absolute rubbish post. If anything the AFL wouldn't throw us a life line - too many Victorian teams. -
Might be a long time between drinks but as long as they are beers its all good!
