can't you see that calling for someone to be sacked is a bit different to "commentary" i don't have any problems if barrett reported on other people suggesting pert's position was in danger etc and discussing reasons. that's reporting, not playing judge and executioner so personally. as for mro, no problem with discussing the issues, speculating on possible outcomes and others' opinions, but i think they should refrain from demanding (vs speculating) a certain outcome. but even if they do, this is quite different because the mro produce a judgement and penalty matrix which is meant to determine outcome, so all they would be doing is following an established process. i think your comparison attempt is a bit apples and oranges though anyhoo, i'm done with discussing barrett ... maybe i might start a petition for his sacking 😁

barretts comment was more than just an opinion (as others have pointed out to you) he has an obvious mission to get pert sacked and has called for it on a number of occasions lately, and none too subtly. the afl website is fully owned and is the responsibility of the afl. they do in fact exercise a lot of editorial oversight on it (when it suits them). Anyway, i never raised any questions on legalities, that was another poster it p155es me off that journos think they can tell clubs how they should be run, just to boost their brand career, and in this case all under the aegis of the afl. some in the media are just pushing their relationships with clubs a bit too far, too quick. the relationship between clubs and the media is rapidly changing (for the worse) and it's not just with the mfc. i still think brad should have a private chat with the afl (if he hasn't)

i don't think you are comprehending what i am saying it has nothing to do with journos writing mean things - that's par for the course and a different issue it's about an afl paid journo on an official afl site calling personally and directly for a club executive to be sacked. that sort of interference in club governance needs clarification/action from the afl ... it's simply beyond the pale [this of course is a matter of principle and nothing to do with my opinion of pert's performance]

one could easily draw that inference, wr if true it would be a very poor direction to take. if the afl want pert out they could talk to the board and other senior club stakeholders, or even directly to pert, but to use a sleazy cutout like barrett is a bit odious (even by afl standards) i can't see a brad green directly standing up to the afl over this though, especially being a stand-in pres

it's a bit worrying how the media reporting seems to have shifted to reporting on what's happening in club land to a position where they are increasingly trying to directly influence club decisions it would be ok for barrett to report that there are rumblings about pert's future but for barrett to come out and unequivocally call for pert's dismissal on his advice is really overstepping the role of the press we are increasingly seeing the media interfering in club management and decision making rather than just reporting on it the blatant click whoring is just getting worse and worse

definitely not his call, whether one thinks he's right or not on top of this, this report is on the afl official web site and barrett is employed and writing for the afl so what is the afl's responsibility in this? if i was the club i would be making a strong complaint to the afl

barrett still doubling down on clarry and pert Barrett Just now IF ... the Dees tried to shut down the Clarry talk late last week ... THEN ... it hasn't gone away. He still desperately wants out. And the Cats will try something before Wednesday night's trade deadline. Whatever the outcome, this club cannot continue with Gary Pert as CEO.

  18. the review(s) are currently underway ... and you are complaining about not being able to start a dialog with club executives about a different and new review ... really? don't expect any announcements from club until current review(s) are completed ... apparently sometime in october 24.

clarry is also very naive, emotionally immature and very suggestible ... it's why he gets impulsively misled and into situations he doesn't handle well off the field ... let's just say he not the deepest thinker. having said all that awful stuff, he's still basically a shy country boy who can be quite likeable
  22. nothing on mine since gus's talk ... think it must be a meal break, or clarry has gone spack and they switched camera off
  23. is kozzy there?

lol the way the media are heading, most clubs will need to hire a dedicated crisis manager ... or just do a deal with the bikies
  25. don't forget there is a few people who have left the club in recent days, both staff and players not saying any of them have loose lips, but now they have left they may feel less obliged to fraternal secrecy
