I agree, overall he didn't do a bad job (after reading whole statement) As I explained before the initial soundbytes on 3AW focussed narrowly on the above quote Yes it can be misinterpreted and maybe he really meant something different But, that is the point of the thread surely. I'd rather hear less from players on post-mortems and match previews under current conditions. Let them speak with their actions and not vacuous words Btw this is nothing personal re Jones who is one of the very few who can hold their heads up -
you could add the Queen Mary at the 500m mark

point is obvious. we don't want a performance as "just like every other game" we want to see a conviction that there will be improvement (without going over the top naturally) but to be fair to Jonesy, when his comments were first played on 3AW earller in the morning they just gave a short sound byte with this comment as prominent. they have now changed their soundbites to where he says different and more positive things Also since then there has been the longer full version published on the web -
FCS sloones, give it time......we have only had a few months to undevelop him.......wait till end of season, that will be fixed

Nathan Jones on radio this morning says the team will treat this weeks Jim Stynes tribute game "just like every other game" WTF does that mean If that is the best he can say then it's best he says nothing Not asking for some over the top statement, but that is not what supporters want to hear -

http://www.smh.com.a...0417-1x5le.html Gotcha
-
well have a stab at it. nature or nurture (or could it be both)?
-
you have a great imagination jnr and you give jackson too much credit he was the one being tackled and heading for the fence, of course he struggled
-
good questions Dr. I suspect they themselves don't know, Will probably review it on a week by week basis either way if he does play it will be via the magoos first where they can gauge his state of mind etc
-
hahaha so you watched the game through rose coloured glasses? who said mfcss is dead B) did the glasses make any difference to the result? If so I might get some myself
-
no i don't think he meant to crack his head deliberately if you are going to 'fly the flag' you must be aware of how far you can go or it horribly backfires a hard tackle outside the boundary line was not a smart idea
-
not sure what point you are trying to make Billy? but yes
-
the truth maybe somewhere in between you and hose but you are making more sense billy you don't confide anything or have off-the-record chats to the press. they are the press and they make you look pretty dumb especially when they start a comment with " I was talking to Mark Neeld and ............" even if they misrepresent you. Not only is MM the press but he is also MM with a mouth sometimes like Aker. I'd stay clear if you want to avoid controversy

as one doc to another doc, you should recognise the symptoms of a chronic troll don't give him too much oxygen. he might get bored and go to big footy
-
I didn't have any problems with how both Grimes incidents were handled I don't think Jackson did anything wrong Grimes should know the sling tackle rule well, esp after Trengove I think Grimes also knew he was over the boundary and should have 'pulled' the tackle in both cases I think Grimes was frustrated at the teams performance and was trying as captain to make a physical statement. He just went too far In the end it was just another example of lack of discipline in giving away unnecessary frees (and in this case suspension)

OD no-one is saying they are a good side, just that they are playing below what they are capable of and what they have shown at times in the past. Currently they have gone backwards as a team. What I thought we are discussing here is the question of why (and hopefully how to turn i around). Morale? Lazy? Unfit? Constraints of Game Plan? Leadership? Youth? Coaching? Etc etc I don't know. Probably some combination of the above. But I do know they are playing below their capability individually and as a team They just cannot be as bad as what we are seeing
-
or too constrained by rigidly following game plan instructions? Maybe all 3 factors.....I just don't know, but I do know that the players are better than what we are seeing I suspect the game plan is being implemented as the "great leap forward" rather than being implemented incrementally It's a bit hackneyed but "crawl before you walk" comes to mind Mind you these players as a group do seem pretty fragile mentally
-
I would say "gradual" rather than "marked" improvement. lets not get too far ahead of ourselves I'm happy with that At least he is one of the few improving and not going backwards

The next generation of younger Dees supporters
daisycutter replied to Maldonboy38's topic in Melbourne Demons
I understood the thread I thought it went past just being sad and sounded like more defeatism I think it's sad too that it's hard to attract new kids. The Casey thing was always a long term venture We all know winning will help and that's not happening But there are people on this forum talking about telling their kids to find another team or wishing they hadn't pushed the Dees onto them etc. This is what got up my craw I didn't become a Dees supporter just to jump on a band waggon. There is enough of that type of thinking elsewhere And finally my post was general and not personal to anyone - it was not posted as a reply-post -

By making him/her feel good about being a demon supporter especially when things are tough thats why I said "Tomorrow I will get my grandson some new demons paraphernalia." I'm sure you can think of other things to get them or do with them if you put your mind to it No-one is saying it is easy, but giving up is too easy Maybe its the adult supporters who are the problem Anyway, innovate, you can only try, and good luck -
