  1. good post and sound observations. we can't make too much of out-scoring them late since the heat was out of the game but our blokes prevented an outright blowout. we were stiff with some of the home-town decisions...since why should Josh Carr be rewarded for dropping his head?...and we didn't take all our opportunities when it mattered but we won plenty of it.
  2. Normally I wouldn't bother but it is too distracting in your post so can we get this straight...it's WOULD HAVE/SHOULD HAVE... You might think it sounds liks would OF or should Of but think about it and the word you're using is HAVE If you want to write is as you say it then it's would've or should've. OK? A grammarian would call would've or should've a contraction and your post a distraction.
  3. Bruce missed a crucial shot when we needed to apply scoreboard pressure. A dreadful blue from a senior player. He really hurt us. It was such a lousy miss I was surprised when he did nail one on the run late in the game. Meesen on this thread has been let down with faint praise. His ruck work was the best by any of our blokes in the first three rounds. I was pleasantly suprised. Also thought Bennell showed more yesterday. Bate continued to work hard although his pace is a worry. McLean must be injured although his inside work was better yesterday.
  4. First McInstosh, then Fraser. Opposition ruckman have had field days against us. I am OK with Spencer being rested and I hope Meesen defies all those who have bagged him on this site. I for one have not heard anything positive about him before last week's game but he had to be given a try. Here's hoping he gives us some presence around the ground.
  5. Finally a FRIEND! And after blueing with RFlowerwing and Hazy. But no...just a link to crappy porn site.
  6. Three charged - one denied bail and has spent three nights in the clink (good result) and according to police two more are being sought. These would be the heroes who sunk in the boot while Brad Jones was on the ground.
  7. Anyone sighted any of these yet? I saw two at the Roos game, in the MCC reserve seated at the same table - so I guess they had each other for moral support - and one at the Woods game. Glad to see some will put their money up for the club at their own (fashion) expense. I agree, the top is a shocker although it does not look quite so bad when worn.
  8. It was not just the on-ball pressure. Our game started to break down midway through the second quarter when the woods dropped defenders back into the zones we had been attacking through in the first quarter. We needed another route to goal and did not have it.
  9. If Bate "no second effort" and "so-so player" is the best you can do in three words then give it up joeboy and dannyz. Bate was key early when we were using the ball well - his passing was senstational and a huge improvement on what the team served up last week. He was a big part in setting us up with that positive first half. This three word thing lacks a second effort.
  10. Then the missed at least one of Cheneys!
  11. Eddie Jackson the only premiership player among the group - 1948
  12. "The club is confident there will be a major backer, or a combination of backers before the home-and-away season starts" - Mark Stevens in the HUN. Must hope now that Demonster was right and there is as much or more in this as Mission deal offered. Time this uncertainty ended.
  13. Strewth...I can't believe some people on this website. This is a vast improvement on what's gone before so stop your whingeing. I love the monogram edition too, but I see this as a modern upgrade that even looks good in the white version. We wanted the demon. We got the demon. The monogram makes a great training jumper. Let's unite and worry about something that matters.
  14. Since the CEO was at the intra-club was anyone able to question him about the sponsorship issue, and if so, what did he say?
  15. What's the story on the Russian? How bad is his foot and when is he expected to return?
  16. That would be much appreciated - and I think in your case I can take the lucid, coherent aspect for granted. Cheers
  17. For those of us who can't be there, is anyone planning on reporting on the intra club, say quarter by quarter with a comprehensive wrap to finish? I'd like at least 1,000 lucid, coherent insightful words please.
  18. Yeah lighten up on the criticism (can't believe the whingeing on 'Ology about this). You'll set off RFlowerwing and Hazy again how this never happened under Paul "Sunshine and Flowers" Gardner.
  19. By the time this contract runs out the dogs will be finishing 10-12 and will still have no KPPs and no flag. last year was as goodf as they can do. the mexicans have done their dough - but by 2012 they'll be able to walk away in any case. let's bury these pretenders round 8.
  20. Havnig heard CSchwab on this subject before it relates to identity. Melbourne is unique in that it grew out of a ground - not a suburb like other clubs. He is trying to assert identity and a point of difference for long term survival.
  21. Ditto to Rojik 3AW = 3M-O-R-O-N Radio and has done so for 40 years
  22. If what ITGRB says is true, the AFL needs to be condemned for sandbagging us as sunday specialists. but as i pointed out on another thread, almost every thing they do has the result of keeping us under pressure. time for another debt demolition drive
  23. cording to the age tigers and luxbet have done the deal and it will be wrapped up soon, leaving only us without a sponsor - a factoid tucked away in a story by caro about cousins. it's less money than tigers wanted but luxbet will be on the back of their guernsey
  24. I'd love to see us advance. We need the dough and we need the winning habit. But it is interesting, since everyone including the AFL knows we need the money desperately, that for the second year running we are drawn to play the reigning premier. If this were due to some seeding principle then Geelong would be playing West Coast and the Bulldogs would be playing Fremantle. Instead WC gets the relatvively easier draw of Collingwood (at Subi) and Freo gets the easier draw of Richmond (guess where...at Subi). Us? We're at Launceston. So the two faltering interstaters get a hand up, and we're kept under pressure. I really would be rapt to see us upset the dead hand of AFL fixturing.
  25. We're in no position to dismiss any prospective sponsor, however, given the history of some now former players at our club, and their highly publicised problems with the punt, we may not be the best fit in this regard.
