  1. Davey re-signed for 3 years this morning
  2. Im hoping one of cunnington, martin, stevens or rohan slides and we can take them at 11. Then 18 use on one of the big men who is still around. You simply cannot have too many quality mids. The way I see it theres 4 flanks, 2 wings, 3 centre square, and 2 bench possies to be shared between them. Sylvia, Scully, Trengove, Blease, Strauss, Moloney, Jones, Grimes, Maric, Davey, Morton (who incidentally I still hope will turn into a key position), and hopefully another quality mid at pick 11, can all share these positions. Adding one of Rivers/Garland/Frawley at CHB and Watts at CHF and you have a pretty scary half back to half forward line.
  3. Opposition taggers must have done backflips whenever they found out they were playing on Brock.. He was absolutely hopeless with any sort of attention. My guess is thats why he was given negating roles - to avoid being tagged himself Pick 11 is a fantastic coup for the Dees - considering we also get rid of his inflated salary and freed up space in the midfield for the MUCH more damaging and explosive midfielders we have waiting in the wings.
  4. If Carlton took pick 18 Id do it in a heartbeat. Ive always had big wraps on walker, just a matter of if he could get his body right. Only 23 still I think and great size for a mid/utility. But seeing as he wasnt included in the mclean trade, I suspect that the FD isnt too interested..
  5. Do your homework before posting, has been one of the hardest players at the footy in the past 2 months
  6. I can think of few reasons why Mclean has had a poor season: 1. He's so slow he looks like he's running backwards; 2. He's kicking has no penetration, depth, or accuracy; 3. He doesnt kick enough goals; 4. He doesnt take enough marks; 5. He makes too many clangers and poor decisions in traffic; 6. He can't handle tags, or doesnt work hard enough to beat them; 7. As a supposed topline midfielder, he has had numerous games where he was barely sighted. Off the top of my head....
  7. Port would obviously take pick 2 for boak - there are very few players in the comp who would/could get pick 1 or 2 as a straight swap for themselves. I'd take boak and ports first rounder (8 or 9??) for 2 in a heartbeat. Boak is a gun and will only get better and we still get another pick in top ten, maybe another vic boy rohan or martin. It will mean port will obviously be able to take their local boy in trengove, so they may be interested.. I also would look seriously at salopek if rumours are true that he wants to come home to vic. Went to school with him, has always been a gun and ive followed his career pretty closely. Was on the cusp in 07 and 08 of becoming a topline consistent mid, but has regressed this year. A return home could do him the world of good. Maybe straight swap for jamar
  8. Agreed, there is zero chance of us beating st.kilda. We could start playing now and still wouldn't win
  9. Agreed - looks like he could play the hit up role (ala Miller) but can actually deliver to a target inside 50. Its probably watts' role in a few years, but tmac should be given the opportunity there until watts develops.
  10. Probably the wrong thread, but is it just me or does EVERY F***ING TIME bartram take a mark he waves his arms like an imbecile to try to slow the game down?? Bartram you spud, the game of football is fast paced and high intensity - stop trying to slow the game down to your innately abhorrent skill level. He must go.
  11. Hahaha, my thoughts exactly
  12. You're all taking the [censored] right???? Sunday's game was an absolute joke, and embarrassing for all involved with the MFC
  13. I dont know if its been said yet, but newton lining up on deledio on a wing for the majority of the 3rd and 4th quarter was a winner Yesterday was farcical, and I refuse to watch another MFC game this year. This scully and whoever kid better be worth it
  14. we MUST pick the two best mids with the first two picks. End of story. Cant be bothered backing this up as its been done numerous times before.
  15. We wont beat sydney, north or richmond
  16. Andrew Obst
  17. Are you kidding me?? Our defence is the only line at the mo which is solid and has potential. We have TOO MANY tall defenders, Ill almost throw in my membership if we recuited another...
  18. What a time to be a melbourne supporter... From the day after we play, until the morning of the next game, every part of me hopes that we won't win 5 games thanks to the "perks" of the current draft system. But as soon as the whistle blows and the game starts, every part of me hopes that we win. Even when we're down by 6 + goals, I still hope of clawing back as per freo game last year. I know its insurmountably in our favour to not win 5 games, but I still can never watch melbourne in real time and hope that we lose, even if they are close or competitive losses. Can any supporter really, genuinely do that??
  19. The point is we dont need another KPP forward - ie Butcher.
  20. Shouldnt be any debate at all - Scully and Trengove. 2 OUTSTANDING midfielders. Weve got 1 key forward in Watts who should be a gem. Geelong have 1 good, but not standout, key forward in Mooney. Hawkins adds nothing to their forward line and they would still be just as dominant if you swapped him for a gamble, lonergan, stokes etc.. They are also the highest scoring team in the league. A midfield of scully, trengove, grimes, sylvia, morton, blease, davey, possibly bennell and strauss when theyre not in the backline (and throw moloney, mclean and jones in for reinforcement). This together with a solid backline which we look to be grooming = top 4 contender 2011 - 2014.
  21. Dream forward line??? You didnt name one player in that four who we know is (or is going to be) elite.
  22. Petterd wouldnt be playing if the game was anywhere other than qld.. But nevertheless glad to see him in
  23. Ill go you one better - here's the WORST melbourne side of the past 10 years (of players that played at least one AFL senior game and are no longer on the list): Ben Beams Chris Lamb Isaac Weetra Ross funcke Ryan Ferguson Brent Grgic Simon Godfrey Luke Ottens Cameron Hunter Luke Williams Stephen Pitt Gary Moorcroft Troy Longmuir Damian Gaspar Shannon Motlop R: Nick Smith Phil Read Jace Bode
  24. Haha, love it biffinator. I dont understand how someone so glaringly not up to the standard of afl footy still gets a game - it says a lot about how far behind melbourne are from ther est of the competition. He wouldnt be in any other afl sides top 27 players.
  25. Doggo, time to let go of your "pj's gonna be a good player for us" dream. He's just no good brother, I know its upsetting but its time to move on
