relax people, we will have quarters like those this year. young footy side
-
scully's hands on show. can't get any flow into our game. dockers are rebounding well and preventing us doing the same. brad green looks a little unsure which is unusual. moloney trying hard. davey struggling to get into the game. morton is trying hard and looking ok. funnily enough we are getting hands on it at clearances just not hitting targets or finding clear targets upfield.

fair go, its the first quarter of the NAB cup.

struggling going fwd. couple of bad clangers by joelmac.

saw scullys lightning hands, would have set up scoring opp but for a holding free against us. bennell done some nice things. nervous shot at goal by trengove. morton is class. dockers giving themselves more scoring opps. we are struggling at half fwd

I am watching it at home, I can post updates.

Stories like this are significant. Hearing stories like this, and others such as Trengove and Scully enjoying being at the dees gives me a lot of hope for the future. Loyalty is what dynasties are built on.

That is pretty funny Dappa though I know where you are coming from. I would be spewing if we wasted our number 2 pick on a bloke who ran around on his hands and knees with his eyes shut.

I didn't say they weren't on thier way. If you read the thread I was talking about players who I believe have a high ceiling and scope for improvement therefore improving the side the most. Fact is if Grimes stays on the park and stays fit, if Trengove is as good as we think he is, if Jones gets more footy and hits targets, if Jamar continues his form and gets on the park, if Bennell can get more footy and hit targets, if Jurrah plays 80% of game time this year, we will be a 20-30% better side. Nothing far fetched there but very dependent on the "I" word. We have a group of 6-8 consistent performers already to add to that list. Good Players continuing to perform at a high level won't improve the side markedly, granted they will look much better in a better side and be under less pressure. The six I mentioned I believe can be very good players, possibly a smattering of A graders amongst them. Bate could have been in the first lot. I agree with what you say about Green and Bruce and said much the same.

Six Players who I believe have a large amount of improvement in them or higher ceiling than your average player. If these players begin to reach thier potential we will field a much stronger football team in 2010. Other people will have differing opinions and different players. 1. Grimes: A fit Jack Grimes in the midfield getting a lot of footy around the ground, taking marks, winning hard ball linking up and hitting targets. 2. Trengove: See Grimes. It sounds likely that this kid will be in our best midfield group now. 3. Jones: This kid has the resilience and toughness to be a great player and the will to succeed, will love having some class around him. 4. Jurrah: More games, game time and fitness will hopefully mean a better footballer again. 5. Jamar: A fit Jamar playing no. 1 ruck for most of the year will be a massive influence going by the form he has shown recently. 6. Bennell: We need his type of player. Hopefully he can be the sweeper to allow Davey to play as a genuine mid forward. Garland: The ideal swingman. Tall, quick, courageous, smart, thumping kick. Possible key forward. Would be a big boost to get him back fit. Will take him time to regain form and fitness so may not have huge impact this year. Wonna is in the same category, high ceiling but probably won't get there this year. Consistent performances from established players such as Davey, Sylvia, Moloney, Warnock, Frawley, Green and Bruce supported by thier improving team-mates will see us win more games than most think.

I think there is some evidence to suggest Col started to turn the corner last year both physically and mentally. He screwed up again and got punished and fronted by his team-mates. He admitted that it hurt him in the article that appeared on the MFC website last year. This was a catlyst. He also stated that he felt his body was turning the corner. A combination of vast improvement in his workrate on the ground and his apparent hunger lead to a much greater on field influence. A fitter hungrier Colin Sylvia will have large impact on our performance this year. It's a strange thread to start denigrating a player who comes into the season with good form from last year and from what we have been told his best ever pre-season.

I think the focus of the whole playing and coaching group will begin to move from the development to the results phase. Obviously development will still be a key focus, but more will be expected from the 3-5 year crop. Furthermore there is enough class in the players drafted in the last few years to begin to influence results. I think what can't be understated is the pressure to perform for spots. If we can keep a reasonably fit list,a player is going to need to perform well at Casey and train with excellence to crack a game. Confidence will also be a key factor.

Adelaide; may not win the flag but will be thereabouts. Will be a power for the coming years. St Kilda: will be hurting and will bounce back. Hawthorn: with a fitter, hungrier squad will be up there. Geelong: still enough class to win the flag, still a super midfield and defence. Will Johnson and Chapman stay fit enough to score enough goals. Bulldogs: still thereabouts. An underachieving Hawthorn saw them get further in 09. An improving Adelaide will push them down another spot. Collingwood: have recruited well, but are not as good as they think they are. Brisbane: The wild card, have reruited fev but lost bradshaw, have recruited a couple of rejects, still have class at the cream. West Coast: To be the big improvers, developing an impressive list. Essendon: a good young list needing development. On the rise. Carlton: serious questions over attack and defence. IMO have screwed up thier rebuild. Could well be on the wane. Throw a blanket over the rest. North: A reasonable list with some impressive young talent but i expect them to be on the wane or treading water. Melbourne: Will win some surprise games when talent clicks together. On the rise. Sydney: On the wane slowly and refusing to rebuild. Roos is a great coach but I don't know about the wisdom of this. Port: On the wane, coming up for some pain in the coming years. Freo: Strange club, strange plans. Have some talent but will get nowhere. Richmond: Have failed the rebuild and need to start again. In for many years of pain.

In short, I don't think anyone wants Jack Watts to fail. I just think that a few of us need to recognise that the kid has still got a lot of work to do to become a good/great player. I think many demonlanders and possibly the kid himself are coming to terms with that.

Davey has increased value to us because currently (well in 09 anyways) he is the only player capable of performing the role he did. Good sides have a few players capable of breaking clear with speed and executing the delivery to the right target. We have Davey. We have the grunt at the clearances, we nee the poise, speed and skill IMO this is our greatest area of need. If we have some other players step up and play this role well this year it will make us a decidedly better side.

It's nice of you to draw the line there, but I cannot find a single post where this is claimed. You have failed to use direct quotes yet again and chose to innacurately paraphrase. What a brave a gallant and defender of Jack Watts you are. You are shadow boxing or like the courageous dragon slayer popping your head around every corner looking for a dragon to slay. No one said anything "proved" anything. No one claimed they wanted him traded as you suggested in a previous post along with all the other ridiculous claims you made. I think far too much has been made of this thing. Unfortunately most of it is due to you being hypersensitive on the issue. Please read posts carefully before going off half cocked. All I saw was a few posters expressing the idea that maybe Jack Watts has some maturing to do and may be still coming to terms with the committement required to be an AFL player. As many have stated, given his age, the fact that he is just a few months out of school, his background etc it's hardly an earth shattering claim and I am sure he isn't on his own. And if you are going to quote this post don't use words or little phrases out of context. That's shoddy stuff. For the record I am glad we have Jack Watts and want him to become a champion. I expect our coaching an leadership group to continue to hone him mentally and physically. He comes with an impressive tool kit but for mine I expect only to see glimpses of what he is capable of till 2012.

Grazman that's not the case. There is specified amounts of drugs and it varies depending on the drug that is regarded as prima facie evidence of trafficking ie. it's considered that the drugs were for the purpose of trafficking unless there is evidence to the contrary. This however is no the only way to be charged with trafficking. Stokes was charged with trafficking because of his admissions. You can make your own mind up about the legal advice he received.

Does anyone know if there is a cost ie: are the rides free?

Careful Stinga people will claim that you want Jack Watts traded, sacked or that you think think he is the main suspect in the murder of the Beaumont children. I have confidence that the coaching staff know what they are doing with him. Patience will be required, can't see him playing senior footy for a little while though.
