It wasn't just because of what happened against the Saints last year. it wasn't just because of the new game plan and finally not having to watch them play with constant indecision, it wasn't just the excitement of watching all the young players stand up... it was that a team who has had a broken psyche since the 2022 finals series, when put under real pressure at the death, didn't let negativity stifle them. they played positive, brave football, and they didn't even look like choking. Well done Stephen King, its only one game, but you just might have created a winning culture at the Dees again.

Had a similar experience with my dad. He was a lifelong supporter, we attended every week. He got cancer in 2020. Beat it. It came back in 2021. He held on to witness the flag, and a then board member we know (thanks buddy :)) arranged for the cup to visit him at this home. He died a month or so later aged 73.

The bigger issue is the fact that barring a single season in 2021, our team has been a serial choker for the last 15 years, regardless of who's in charge. we have a culture of failure. Spend less money on coaches, more on psychologists. Clarrys running shot for goal in the last was always going out on the full before he even approached the ball. [censored] scared of failure.

we dont need a rebuild. we just need our team to play with confidence and self belief.
