  1. I'm betting Crows will beat them over there
  2. oh yeah, I thought they were 1 game behind, We'll North can't catch us.
  3. Looking at today's results, if North loose is will be very hard for us to drop out of the 8. Port/North would have to win huge next week and loose by heaps. Unlikely we'll be blown away in either game. You think Lyon will be gone in two weeks.
  4. I find the enlightens his desire to get a senior job he didn’t really look whether the club suited his style. that is important as well, some coaches need to fit the club culture too. He know realises he should have waited for a club that was a better fit for him. He was a disaster to us, but he was the face of it, not the whole problem.
  5. he'll be managed to the best of the ability of the club. In many way's he still coming back from the foot injury and their may be some flare ups in the short term and hopefully it settles down over time? I rather him miss games know and knock it on the head early for the long term.
  6. looked terrible before 1/2, once bulldogs dropped off looked better. Junk time potions which made his day look better than it was. But it is the first game up in ages so it may have taken him time to adjust, May keep his spot next week, but would be near the bottom of the list to stay in.
  7. Oliver is far ahead of duty at 20 yrs old. I look to see him keep improving not only skill and awareness but also his physical ability, remember he's still growing/developing and won't peak for another 5 years. He'll be our first true superstar since Lyon and Flower. (*Could have put swartz in there pre-acl) I had a look at that years draft this week of who came before and after and he's the pick the bunch, no one is near him. Considering he was considered an unexpected bolder at the time we took him. Whoever spotted him should be paid lots to find more.
  8. Just click I saw on Garry Lyon and co. analysing our workmate from the weekend game. Goodwin also highlighted it so its squarely on the players to work harder for the whole game. https://www.news.com.au/video/id-5348771529001-5804318002001/melbournes-horror-workrate-exposed
  9. Great news for jack, been an emergency for weeks so he finally got his chance.
  10. i remember that being mentioned years ago now. But in modern footy it does not mean as much anymore unless your name is Howe...
  11. Oscar has come up nicely. He'll been a lynchpin for years to com.e
  12. Yeah I know. Life just got busy and I didn't join soon enough. I just the numbers were set for each comp.
  13. HI I tried to join as the PM I sent but it said it was full.!! I have joined the Cordner League now.
  14. Its in a preseason practice game. It is still 6 goals against his name but the intensity of the normal season is missing as clubs focus on their own structures. If he can maintain that form all year, it'll be the jack we expected but didn't get often enough.
  15. I'll go again, "Darkhorse". though hopefully far better than last year as it was a shocker.
  16. All business need luck or "fluke" to in the right place at the right time, and this does happen to many people, but the success comes from the hard work to build that opportunity into wealth.
  17. Nice success story for one of our ex-players. Joel McDonald. http://www.news.com.au/sport/sports-life/footy-star-turns-booze-business-into-200m-giant/news-story/ee601d48ad4a4708b70af3b2412c86ce
  18. the word here int he west is that we are leading the race for Lever.. We'll see it it turns out to be true.
  19. is he, i don't listen live, but i grab all his podcasts,
  20. Most likely a direct question from a reporter as he put 2 and 2 together and thought he had an angle to write an article.
  21. Great news..we'll see what happens.
  22. "You wouldn't have had to. As Don Scott famously showed . It was a Melbourne jumper with a yellow hawk on the front. Make no mistake , we weren't merging. We were taking over." Some interesting discussion, including the above. To be honest I voted fro the merger, simply because we would have become the Melbourne hawks...given we have changed our nickname a few times in the past, it wasn't a deal breaker. We were still ging to be the Melbourne footy club, as at the time we were the stronger party by far. The club was looking tot he future and were in a good position at the time, it was before the TV rights bonanza, which met the growing salary cap. And I think the AFL should pay for this will all the clubs, who manage how they spend it etc, but then the clubs raise money themselves for the training and support facilities. As for the future, we are in the best position financially for as long as I can remember and I believe we will continue to grow. As for infighting since Norm Smith, there was infighting in Norm's time, just you had a very successful period that held the club together and a very strong individual.
  23. Its a bloody hard thing to narrow down to 5 Who I have seen in my time: 1. Robbie Flower - none better 2. Garry Lyon - could win a game by himself ion willlpower 3. Sean Wight - lved his desperation 4. David Schwartz - pre knee injuries the best but loved him afterward 5. Stephen Tingay - flying wingman whose career was cruelly ended when we needed him most, imagine a fully fit Tingay in 2000. Lots of honorable mentions do I wont bother as it would be a pretty big list, as the above were great to watch over most of their career while others had a great purple patch over a few years, normally at the end, such as Anthony Ingernson who found his niche near the end.
  24. Just over $2m now obviously a very good night
