Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
I have no issue with Jackson. He made his decision and his absences is a long term issue that we have time to solve (Even him coming back in the future) His manager should have had this conversation with him as part of the move. Young player on big money (reportedly) will be the focus and whipping boy of failure in WA. Even worse if its a Freo player, (WC players are more of a protected species from the WC dominated media). Sadly I believe he cannot live up to the expectations the have been set by the media and the club in him joining then such big money int he short term, hence it will become the focus of the teams ills. The second (Pointed out by many including me last year) there is not a clear position for him to play int he current Freo structure. This will possibly destroy him as he tries to develop, not matter what mum does and says. Lastly his arrival (trades needed to get done) and the need to play him based upon contract has upset the balance in the free team that have not been rectified yet. If they don't play him, it will be worse in the media based on what has happened to previous players in that position. Including a couple of very talented but less focussed ex-dees.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
I have no grudge on Jackson going home...but I want them to finish as low as possible to get value from their picks. As for Jackson, he's now a very highly paid player at the club (By all reports). But Freo does not have a great record of developing players to come to them from another club. For some reasons it almost always goes pear shaped. Jackson has started the year how he finished the last... well below his potential. His role hasn't really changed between the clubs too much so, 4th years blues?

GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs Brisbane
My first comment as I caught up not he telecast. Gawn off really unsettled us, it took to qtr time to resettle the side. Grundy is not winning the ruck and when he does he just drops it at his feet (Did that Collingwood) What is making it harder is the humidity/due... To me it looks like it making balling handling much harder, hence the fumbles.// Brizzie look like they are handling that a bit better. The ruck that qtr was better, Tmac just needs to draw any contests and Bring to ground. How does Ashcroft get so many highs, surely the umpires are looking for a drop of the knees. A half to go, we just need to continue to stop their scoring as in the 2nd and slowly peg the goals back. I think they'll be fitter in the seance half.

Player longevity... 30-35
Longevity I think is a mixture genetics, mental drive and how much they got banged up 16 - 23… as they early injuries start to surface later. we keep a good club culture it’s possible

NON-MFC: Rd 01 2023
Yes and he's sitting only DT tech :( I wonder if I should trade in a non-playing player to get his score.

NON-MFC: Rd 01 2023
He's great player with 2 better mids above him. Hence he was brilliant at Geelong. he doesn't have the "size" to control the centre by himself. All the trade capital ended up at GWS.

Next Generation Academy
Geelong must have some players coming through their NGA they want access too... But seriously, maybe they look at the level of resources and length of time allocated to a player to determine whether a club can have priority over them. And they make the rules the same for all clubs and not have exceptions for the "non-football" state teams.

AFL Concussion Class Action Lodged
This is expected. Between the 2 articles some interesting points. One of a player who took out premnament disability insurance (He got a payout for his concussion injury) and he said other players should too at the start of their careers. The AFLW player is interesting, (I don't know her history) given the short span of their competition at AFL level. How many did she receive in her juniors etc? I coach junior girls footy, I spend time making sure they know how to approach the ball and protect their heads with good technique. If it gets the trial, will the players need to bring up footage of every hit and who was negligent and why in the head contact? As degrees of negligence is possible. Lastly if one article which included Smith and Jarmen etc. They are starting the case of duty of care from 1985, which was when a major study found the long term damaged from concussion on sporting players. While recent action has seen an improvement in dealing with it, there a few decades the AFL did not address it. This is going to be a long process and it will be interesting to see how the AFL respond with a hard legal defence or reach a compromise and fund ongoing player welfare and support programs.
