  1. Whether the best of all time, not sure, (I'd like us to get someone soon who also surpasses him as well:) ) but I would place him equal on top of the tree with a select few group of great players for our club. For me it was still Flower, nut I'll put Gawn, and Barassi together with him in terms of players. Then Norm Smith as a player and coach.
  2. Anyone new or hasn't won for a long time. Most likely in my vote is Adelaide, but GWS, Gold Coast and Freo (Not that I want the freo excitement being in WA)
  3. A real bugger for Purcell, second knee injury on memory. Given how important for us she is a massive loss. Wish her a speedy recovery.
  4. And G.Lovett kept doing Hammies, and Jacko his back, Then Tingay fell through a bloody window (I think that was next next summer break)... then... horrible run. Whether his game style stood up in the AFL compared to the SA league with the more prep and observation by the opposing in preparing for game. I think he was undone by the simply fact they could pick his game apart if we weren't fully fit.
  5. On Paper he had a great team, then you take out the key injuries we kept getting. That would hurt the best coaches. In the last 2 he wasn't the coach, big difference. Interestingly If you think of 1994, massive wins then smashed by eagles, and then our drop off was almost a mirror image of 2018 and the following year.
  6. If Freo loses, you'll have to think their coach is gone this year. He cant get them into finals and always fade out in the second half.
  7. I agree 100%, it was the glue and brains in the team.
  8. Typical game, lots with poor skills and decision making. Still some good signs across the team so not all is lost. Bring on the new coach and drive in 2026. Edit: Look how good the girls are drilled and play.
  9. Thanks for the commitment Chocco in our flag and since. But it was time for change.
  10. Yay! :)
  11. I guess we should get Mitchell then, he's developed that at the Hawks, followed what Clarkson did when eh took over. In reality if they focus on it they can improve it. Obviously it has not bee a focus for us. As in a central skill focus.
  12. The change will draft rules. Essentially until now they were a "State" AFLW team as all pretty much all the good SA player just nominated for SA teams only, with virtually all going to the Crows until port arrived. Not that is gone (Thank god) and all girls draft go nationwide when picked. So I expect they will become less dominant as their first few drafts age out. Yeah dislike them too as the rules really favoured them and gave them those early cups with a massively distorted drafts.
  13. Great first up game by the girls. Started a bit slow and they have to adjust to the new holding the ball rule which is a lot stricter. Chaplin, Purcell and Hanks. But what's with Tayla. I think we should just sit her out of game 1 every year :( Hopefully it was better by the end of the game. though her pack marking was great. Gee it was crowded around the ball. It would be nice to see some big long handballs out of packs to space to break, but its a different game.
  14. Great to see we are doing our part to keep the Pies out of the finals!!! :(
  15. Starting to be like the trivia question. who kicked 5 goals in the 1990 grand final?
  16. TO think many years ago we could have gotten Guston... Gee the difference in skills makes it two completely class of teams playing.
  17. I guess there will some discussion on the end of Goodwin. My question is the debate of where should we look, experienced i.e. Buckley (Almost last previous coach standing) or a highly rated assistant with new ideas. From the Bulldogs game, the players seem to have more freedom to run and attack and it bought different players into the game. I also liked the Presser by Chaplin (He's smart as he knows caretakers dont end up long term coaches). and he spoke really well, nice to hear a different voice. Maybe Goodwin should have mixed it up with different coaches presenting at different times. How much of a difference to meeting to game plan was the new mix of players and their positioning on the field. From my Kayo broadcast there seems to be some notable changes in where players were positioned/started providing a fast movement and better targets forward. On the flip side, skills still not get enough by even our best skilled players.
  18. At one point it was sign him up..... Bit disappointed they didn't interview him before the games (It wasn't on kayo) Good signs that have been there later in the latter part of the year. A few small tweaks in where players played including seeing max was resting forward at a CB at least once (I only had kayo to watch) Lost of skill and polish to support the great running, it what was not a high pressure game from the dogs. Windsor looks much better in his natural position, pity he'll most like;y miss the last 2 games.
  19. WTF was that, where was the free protecting the players head
  20. Either Buckley was not a good coach or he had completely wrong list for the style of play he wanted to implement. Either way, he had a pretty young premiership list that didn't perform except for 1 year.
  21. Prefer an experienced "younger" coach with a definite plan on how he wants the team to play and how to develop and implement. Lots of good names being thrown around. Experienced coaches like SImmo, Buckley, horse bring a different quality and known approach but the success of say McRae and Mitchell shows new ideas as we are not building from scratch but working to improve our existing list which has enough quality to make and compete in finals.
  22. Delivered us a Flag and it was great, he will always be remembered and honoured for that success. but since 2023 has not been blessed to prepare and deliver success with the list. The blame is not only on him and he will not be the only one that needs to go to bring success back to the team. The question is what type of coach do we go for? Experienced Horse or a new coach like McRae, Mitchell to bring success.
  23. Touching on Jones appointment. The main issue I have with his appointment was that he hadn't worked in any other system. I imagine it had some new ideas, the most obvious one being bringing Kozzie into the mix. However, he didn't go look and coach in other successful midfield system and then bring them back adjusted to his own ideas. As far as I know it was retirement, media midfield coach. Hence why was have run pretty much the same system all year with the same results. Know what I don't know if Goodwin not following his advice to change the mix till this week?
  24. JAI CULLEY warmed up over the match, Ddint know he was a little dee (dee's supporter), make sense why eh was so happy after that first goal in our colours. But can we play like this against a good side. Today was pretty much a training run on how we should be playing.
  25. Nothing standard letter to members... Not he coach mentioned very unhappy directors and senior supporters (unofficial power brokers) Some action will be done, the question is what it will be?
