Have spoken to Brad several times and he seemed intelligent and dedicated to his football. If he brings that to his coaching he will be fine. PS. Ross Lyon and Clarkson weren't champion footballers either, they were hard at it battlers.

I think 19 is a lock as it would make the AFL look absolutely weak to not give us anything. I am still hoping for Essendon's pick as a compromise. It could depend on whether the AFL did a deal with PJ when we got Roos. The AFL could then have engineered all the fuss from the other clubs to somehow justify not giving us Boyd.

Always thought Bennell would make it. Talent and pace, which we don't have a lot of. His weakness for me was a very low possession count most games. He just didn't get his hands on it often enough.

I am sick of Hawthorn winning and I still remember 87 Prelim and 88 GF. They have had enough success, let the Dockers win their first.

I am pretty certain we will get a PP now if the Age article today is correct. It says that the other clubs are against us getting 1 or 3, but seem to concede an end of round 1 pick. That does leave a compromise of Essendon or Crows forfeited picks. That would be the middle ground, where the AFL could say we gave some help, but not too much and the other clubs aren't really affected, as it was a forfeited pick.

He may prefer Carlton because of finals chances, but he doesn't fit what they are now trying to achieve, a rejuvenated list. MM has said they are not a real finals team and need to fix up certain areas, like speed in the midfield and a key forward. He is neither of those.

If he is worth it, we should be lobbying the AFL now, like the other clubs have, to get Essendon's pick so we can get a player's brother. We could undertake to take him if he is there at that pick. That does have some feel good factor in it for the AFL.

If we trade pick 2, I hope we can get back a mid first round pick in the deal. That would be invaluable in another trade. Sloane is not worth 2 and the Crows would love Aish. Crows don't have early picks to trade back as part of a deal. If you could convince Adams, Tyson and Miles to come and offered 2 and Jamar, you might be able to get pick 10 back. Clearly 2 is too much for Adams and Miles but would be about right for Adams and Tyson. Maybe another player or later pick from us could be about right. Oh well, in another month we will know if any of these guesses have come true.

Sounding like Roos has had a chat with Trengove about the captaincy. JT has said he would not be unhappy if there is a change as he will do what is best for the team. I can see Jones and Grimes as Co Captains next year.

And a year before GWS it was GC. Couldn't see either of those clubs complaining. The AFL can't use other clubs complaining as a reason for denying us the PP1. It would be a joke if they admitted that. This seems to be more, some journos and a few Presidents working together.
