    Did she mention me?
  2. Welcome to the dobber generation.
  3. I can’t recall off the top of my head being more invested in a player recently, than I was with Jesse. Then seeing him play for Casey that first year, I got really excited at what he might bring to the Dees. I wrote on DL that he was the closest I had seen to a young Carey. Well that is now history for me and the Dees. It is a lesson to me even at my age, not to invest too heavily in individual players, but rather the team as a whole. Good luck JH at the Dockers, though not against us. I have a pretty strong feeling that he won’t achieve the status in football that I thought he would back in his Casey days, but it is up to him and tbh, I don’t really care anymore. Go Dees and merry Xmas DL’s.

Stayed at a winery last night, I guess it shows.
  5. Well we don't leak like a sieve anymore. He was not traded just because he was happy to go home. You can back that in.
  6. You don’t seriously believe that a Coach would can a guy in the media when they are either keeping him, or hoping to trade him, do you? If you do, I have a clapped out piece of crap car that you might like to buy.

I can, I was trying to remember what I did in the 60’s.

I have just received a call from Government House, advising of my forthcoming knighthood and henceforth I will be known as Sir Redleg of Demonland. Apparently her Majesty is a major fan of this thread and reads it to the corgis each night. As modest as I can be, I must say it is long overdue. PS. Earl already has his honour and that is as far as he is going, an Earl.

Nothing to do with my sense of humour. Poster admitted he made a mistake thinking the photo of the Wiz was Jetta.

Maybe it's about time we left the guy alone. We have moved on and successfully. Enough is enough.

I thought I would have got one for starting this thread.

You do know that that is the Wiz not Jetta.

  19. If the oval is not fenced off and it is improved by being flattened and resown, then it is hard to see what legitimate gripe the residents group can have. How many of those complaining currently use the oval area and for how many hours in a day? If it is only that the club will use it for a few hours a week, then that is a nonsense, as these parks are there to be used. If the real gripe is about the building, then it must be noted that it is being planned to be built over an ugly railway line and that fits within planning guidelines, that deal with improving areas and widening their use. A modern mixed use building will be of more use to the community as a whole, than the airspace over a railway line. As well as club facilities, their could be cafes, shops and community offices etc, which would enhance the use of the now vacant area. Further, If the building was owned by the Government and paid for by it, we could lease/buy back over a period and end up with a revenue stream and it would be very difficult for a marginalized group to stop it going ahead.
  20. Agree with the first part. We were evicted from training at the G, something we did for over 100 years, before the other co tenants came along. I was Team Manager in 1979, under Coach Big Carl and it was an enormous thrill for everyone connected with the club, to be on the ground during training. I will never forget it. As for the second point, that won't happen, but if we get a deal up and running the AFL will chip in.

Gardens are pretty dry, worried about the banana crops. Hope it rains soon.
  22. Craig is a nice guy and did his best for us.
  23. Agree we didn't have to make the decision and also that people don't need to gamble. However, the AFL rewards clubs that make business decisions and lose money. I would have thought this has more merit than simply being incompetent in running a club.
  24. IMO clubs who have adopted family values over pokies should be rewarded by the AFL, as otherwise the clubs like Hawks, Blues and Bombers have an advantage in income, derived from gambling, which is so harmful to so many.

Saw an article on Robert Shaw and he described Salem as the most skillful of the players that he coached at Brighton Grammar and that he could turn a game in 15 minutes. Kelly and Watts were others he coached. Pretty big wrap on Salem and suggests he has improvement left in him.
