WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAY LOCKHART
There is no real basis for that statement.

Now I am not sure. You could be right, we might be able to put Nieta on the LTI list and have another pick.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAY LOCKHART
You realise that it was our last pick. We don’t have a pick mid season.

Agree Clint. While I wish Jay all the best, I am very surprised we didn’t take another ruckman. We have 2 mature ruckmen and a kid, yet despite having plenty of mids, we take another small one. The Hawks have McEvoy, Ceglar and Pittonet, yet still took another young ruckman, despite not having Mitchell. Would have thought our need was another mature ruckman as Insurance rather than another small mid.

Injury List - Season 2019
Great highlight, but it doesn’t of itself make him best 22 or change my opinion.

Not so sure Hannan is best 22 now.

Agree Daisy and that is what I am upset about Michael Christian who is the MRP says it is Medium Impact BECAUSE the victim was hurt and couldn’t as a result come back on the ground. We then appealed only the impact level arguing for low impact. The Lions agreed Berry was not concussed or injured and that the reason he didn’t return was purely based on minutes played in a practice game. That should have been it. Grading reduced to low and a fine but no, For some inexplicable reason the Tribunal substitutes the phrase “ it could have been worse “ to somehow mean it was medium impact. The appeal is then denied. This to me smacks of a pre determined outcome and is a disgrace. The rest of the discussion about bracing, bumping, record etc is totally irrelevant. If this was a final at stake we would be in Court and would win. This process has been an absolute disgrace. Lastly if Berry was injured/ concussed I would happily accept the week. That is not the case and to my mind has been a disgraceful attempt at obtaining a result no matter what. The AFL Tribunal has acted shamefully IMO.

We should be happy as we now know the true definition of medium impact, which is “ it could have been worse”.

Cotchin did, for a worse hit that put Shiel out of a Preliminary Final.

That Moloney decision was nothing short of a disgrace and the Tribunal simply made it up as they went along. It still sticks in my craw. Another shocker was the Jack Trengove throw on Dangerfield, who was allegedly destroyed in the incident, with Jack getting 4 weeks while Danger was miraculously resurrected to be best on the ground with 5 goals the next week.

Very similar to free kicks. Each club’s fans can see incidents differently.

Steven May Suspended for 1 Match
Speaking of 50 metre penalties, the new rule is the invention of an idiot. The umpires boss one week before the season starts has admitted that the umpires don’t know exactly how to set the mark and the player penalised basically has to let the infringed player run away or play in without any pressure. I am struggling to think of a worse rule.

This thread is further proof of something I learned very early in my legal career. Put 4 people on different corners of an intersection, to view an accident occurring in the intersection and you will get 4 different versions of what happened if you ask them what they saw. As for the Tribunal, given we are challenging the penalty, I would assume we have the Lions on side to explain why Berry didn’t come back on and to downgrade the medium impact by showing no injury.

How would I know? It came from another poster who spoke to an unnamed player. Good to hear though.

Thanks that’s good news. He has become one of our better players.

POSTGAME: JLT 02 vs Brisbane
No contact to the head. May braces but doesn’t fully bring the arm up to lock the shoulder. May is nearly stationary at collision as other player is running forward. Umpires were there and no concern. Mummy puts forearm into players face a week before and is fined. This not suspension worthy or IMO even reportable.

POSTGAME: JLT 02 vs Brisbane
No one mentioning Tom MAC. Completely out of form atm. Don’t know how many marks he dropped but had no influence at all. Our forward entries to be fair were terrible and our disposal is still my major worry, along with a lack of pace. On a positive note we lose by 7 points with a stack of injuries, some players playing their first practice game, several regulars out and a generally poor game by the team, also not helped by about 6 goals from frees to the Lions.
