I won't engage with you, RR. Your comments are often nasty and belittling. If you think you know more than others, say so in a non-judgemental way, rather than responding with snide remarks. Over and out.

Marcellin or Eltham?

Why don't you learn to quit the sarcasm?

I look forward to bumping this up, OD.
-
Yes, but this is all a technical skill. Brad Miller's kicking was terrible when arrived, but his kicking improved. He's harder at the ball and the man than 95% of the players on our list. Will stay and will become a gun.

YDE, please realise that 2011 was absolute junk footy for this club (not that 2012 wasn't, lol!) But there was no structure, no defence, no game plan, no coaching. There is no room in Neeld's vision for Stef.

Wellingham/Dawes super trade (scuppered)
jumbo returns replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting first post. The 2000 team got belted in the GF and were never, ever, going to be good enough to win a flag. This line up included some very ordinary footballers and should have been turned over by Daniher the following year. But, ND played all his favourites and never developed the youngsters well enough. I've moved on. -

I love all this. JV for 26 is still sweet on my mind. -
Has the MFC shot itself in the foot?

There's just no pleasing some people. -
Very lame, D - L, very lame.

I see Tappy as a classic HFF who needs to develop his defensive game. He creeps on players and he can really bump well and fairly. He reminds me of your namesake, Rhino, or a Dougy Barwick type.
-
This is a fair call as Bartram may never recover from his knee injury. Having said that, Davey's played this role before and when he was doing well, was heavily tagged out of the game. He'll need to really get fit.
-
Okay, I'm up to round six with my replays and Aaron Davey has been MIA in all games thus far. He just couldn't get near it this year (setting aside his injuries) Does he add anything to the side? Will he retain his spot for next year?
-
That's right...thanks.
-
Magner (like most of the team except for Jones, Tommy Mac and Howe) got puffed out by round 5 or 6. I think there'll be a role for him next year and he needs to stay in the middle. Moloney's departure will help his development.
-
He played most games this year, but missed several with knee? or hammy? Either way, I think he'll be very important for our team (as a few have already mentioned.)
-
I think there are better insurance policies on the list already. There's been no output since he joined the Club. I don't rate his so called 'break out year'. He made so many mistakes with his possessions, he was a liability. If he becomes part of the Dawes' deal, so be it.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (you young fellas out there know what they are?) or usb, overhauling his action is a technical fix - his aggression, running, appetite to compete is already there.
-
Amazing post WJ. The 60's only exist in books for me, but your passion and devotion really shine through. Tomorrow will unveil all....hope the servers cope well.
-
Well, yes and no. His kicking needs to improve, but his thirst for the contest is fantastic. Hard as. There are a few players in our team that need some of his mongrel pills....you know who they are.
-
2000 was a great year, except for the Bombers, ala Carlton in '95....unbeatable. The rebuilding should have started after that lost granny.
-
Goodsey Mummy Kirky Roosy 'Goes in low' (falls over) 'They're out here' (watch them stuff it up) 'Kick down the line' (Neeldy will drop me if I use the corridor) 'Much maligned' (everyone hates me) 'Key indicators' (can't get a kick) 'Nice catch' (it's a mark, fmd)

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
jumbo returns replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
You're right, I forgot about Templeton's injuries - perhaps the brokers of the time were so desperate to see the Dees become a powerhouse again, they trusted him without a medical? That's what I mean by intent....best intentions, but a degree of naiveté. But, I digress....is chasing Dawes emblematic of this culture? Or a changing of philosophy? This Club has hardly recruited a big name player (with the exception of Mitch) since...since... I think it's about direction, a game plan and a medium term strategy to success. Neeld needs to make this happen. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
jumbo returns replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why is chasing good players symptomatic of a poor culture? The chosen players may have failed, but the intent showed due diligence to make the Club strong again. Our drafting in the last 10 years or so has been the sole demise of this club. Lazy, underdeveloped, apathetic, narcissistic so called 'players' who thought they belonged to Hollywood. All that is about to change - at least this Club will start to smell like a Club again.
