  1. Not another basketballer? What about recruiting a decent FOOTBALL player?
  2. He was injured most of the year. Given a sound preseason, I think you'll find he will impose himself a lot more in stoppages and contests. I agree, he needs to do more, but he's capable.
  3. How do they do it? Decent players, not spuds is certainly a start.
  4. Where are you going? Talk footy....it's all fun.
  5. GC will play hard ball - remember Port and Stephens? was it? GWS bound....
  6. A bit harsh on Strauss. He will be just as good as Tommy Mac....brave, disciplined and has a lovely kick on him. Needs a solid preseason. Btw, did anyone see The Footy Show last night? There was a shot of Dustin Fletcher doing some running THREE DAYS after the end of the season. No wonder he's played at the elite level for 20 years......
  7. Can't be helped - coming from such a low base, seduction will win over pragmatism any day.
  8. Or Melbourne after the 2000 debacle.
  9. IDGAFF! Yes! Another one...I'm getting good at working these out
  10. Caddy can play - don't worry about that. I've watched his career through school footy and watched several games when he was playing with the Knights and I'll tell you this: He is just as intimidating and competitive and in love with the contest as JV is.... This has to happen for us.
  11. Whoa! Just when I thought I had all these covered....FMD, GAFY, YFI, FU Someone help?
  12. Not every team has a Nik Nat or Cox. I wouldn't call Sandilands, Jolly, Maric, Mumford, Hudson or Pike too athletic. Okay, this is what I'm saying - Stef's first effort has to do with feeding his midfielders and protecting Jones, Trengove, Grimes and whoever rotates through the centre bounce and stoppages. As Wiseblood said, his games were quite good (in patches) but he makes poor decisions and turns the ball over. He's not a ball carrier and needs to play a more disciplined role.
  13. Half a dozen or so players got games this year to see where they were at. Martin failed to flatter in any of his games.
  14. Let's agree to disagree on your first sentence. Now, let's discuss YOUR opinion. Martin did not set the world on fire when he was available - at other times he was languishing @ Casey. Next year will be his 5th or 6th year on the list. When you say there'll be 'improvement come over the next few seasons,' how long are you prepared to give him? 6, 7, 8, years? Michael Newton time? I don't think you've watched him play closely enough, or you're not sure how Neeld wants to develop this team. 'Other' clubs are showing interest in him? Any deal will do.
  15. Following his career. Watching him play. Opinion. Discussion.
  16. It's not just the rucking that's the issue, YDE. It's about the 1% percenters that Neeld now demands and expects.
  17. A combination of several factors. Practices based on goals and mentoring. Understanding of sport science. Psychological connectedness with the Club. Contemporary coaching ideas. Skills skills skills.
  18. Club might be attractive now - the no bs approach taken by Neeld would definitely be resonating with others outside the club.
  19. I know where you're coming from - this club had some of the hardest players going around years ago. Tingay, Wight, Stynes, Jackson, Grinter, Lovett, Lyon....the list goes on. But, alas, they kept on running into bloody Hawthorn.
  20. Well...until that dog act by Long.
  21. Jack has to be our forward line support for the big man. Protein shakes, steak, come on, Jack....eat, eat, eat.
  22. Simmonds? Seriously???
  23. One ruckman will go.
