  1. That is one tough handshake. How good is this kid? Go Clarry!
  2. I understand momentum to have a mass behind it. I wasnt kidding that I was with you, but Id have used the word "Promises". Just because things need to run to plan and the phrase "As long as...." isnt vital to our improvement.
  3. I was right with you up till "momentum"
  4. "Playing Tall" always reminds me of Brad Green and Cam Bruce. Brad played tall at 183cm but Cam's 190 cm always seemed shorter.
  5. Id say better than even chance. I want him traded.
  6. I'd like to see other teams need to fill the space he leads into. Oh that's right he doesn't lead. I'd also be happy with Tom Mac teaching him all about one grabbers.
  7. Well Rory Sloane re-signed after his parents moved back from Adelaide to Upwey. Well done Adelaide, I guess. Bad luck Saints and Dees who both had claims. I thought he was gone.

Brian Nankervis - Collingwood Tex Perkins - St Kilda Paul Kelly - Adelaide (previously Melbourne) David Hobson - Melbourne David Larkins (Dallas Crane) - Essendon (currently working at MFC)
  9. Ive heard from 2 quite different sources that the saints are going for 2 meter Peter. If not him they are trading for a tall forward i.e. Cameron. Both the sources Ive heard from are believed to be in the know from other saint supporters. I just hope we dont get the Petracca pick traded from right in front of us.
  10. I think North would be prepared to pay way over the odds for Brayshaw. If we happen to be in position to exploit that, why wouldnt we? As mdemonski2 says my thoughts drifted to Jake Ziebell, too. As a 23yr old he would certainly be a great get as Crossy sunsets. But other than him, I dont know what they have that they would be prepared to trade, or that we would take.
  11. I wonder if we could deal with North for a player and their #13 pick so they could get Brayshaw?

Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

I always picture Grant Thomas when I see B-H posts. Very good at summarizing players abilities, can be illuminating at times, very good football knowledge and strong self confidence. Not caring in the least what other opinions may be. He doesnt usually come on only to negate others posts (which unfortunately some other interesting posters do) but he is pretty good at it.

Ray Donovan has gone to the top of my "look for new episodes" list. Not for everyone and it Takes a little bit to get used to, but the character Jon Voight plays is a classic.

Robbo was a really bad kick at goal for a couple of years before he got his action correct. Admittadly goal kicking is not field kicking but IIRC Robbo came off a low base and became quite a good shot.

There is at least one family I know who had a board member at that time who now dont follow Melbourne. Sad.

Funnily enough i was ok in front of the family watching Channel 9's eulogy Wednesday night until Gary Lyon came on. He's got soul Gaz.
  19. I guess I would be struggling to debate that this is Soul Jazz. Maybe I could argue that ... nuh. Got nuthing. But i like this thread, and I really get a kick when Tom looks at the hippie and sings that he should cut his hair. Check the fashions! Tom seems to dress to the left. And old shaky neil looks totally strung out. CSN in town at present too.
  20. I guess Im really putting up all my soul Jazz favorites and most of them are recorded during the Demons salad days. Here is something not told in the movie Ray. Ray Charles was a Jazz boy genius before he took to singing R'n B. On this track , an instrumental, he plays both Guitar and Alto Sax. (around the 5 minute mark). The back of my vinyl re-iterates how '50s jazz followers felt spurned (think Dylan going electric 10 years later but on a smaller scale) and never followed him down the road to Rythm and Blues. How long blues is one i turn too late night in my cups at the end of each football year.
  21. Herbie Mann in 1962. It goes for 8 minutes but is Classic Soul Jazz.If you do like it (it is after all jazz flute) check the youtube link to listen to Herbie Manns version of the Classic "Sunny". many versions of this song are available with the most popular being the Boney M disco version. Herbies version is truer to the sentiments of the song (IMO) even though there are no vocals. The song was written by a young guy about his older brother getting killed the day after JFK. Because he wanted to remember him in a happy disposition rather than a lousey disposition he wrote Sunny. One for Two Sheds jackson.

Half way through "Boss" and I heartily recommend it.

Boss with Kelsey Grammer is one new series I have been watching. I think its pretty good.
  24. Thanks Macca - really enjoyed the Duke. Here is one of my favorites, Les Mc Cann and Eddie Harris.Compared to What. Word was that Eddie harris was booked to play the 1969 montreaux Jazz fest with the band but they hadnt had time to practise and ended up getting blasted backstage before coming on.Les told Eddie just to watch and wait for him to come in and do his thing. it worked beautifully and I never knew the original was on Youtube but have just found it. Sock it to me!

Unfortunately many people at a certain cafe in St Kilda cast a sneaky peek at Magda's breakfast order. She is back on the good stuff.
