5 goals down and its game (Season) over. If we cant beat the Swans with their injuries we have zero hope against WCE and GWS. Cant wait for the presser describing the "learnings" from today. Actually thought we could win today.... i really did. Guess that will teach me to believe in this mob. Lesson learned.

Jones has been rubbish so far. Just terrible. We have no composure at all. None. Started well enough, but its looking ugly atm. Panic, turnover, repeat. All Sydney right now. Our shocking misses in the first qtr were always going to bite us on the ass. Will take a huge turnaround from here. This is the OLD Melbourne i am watching..................

The results so far this weekend really have given us a golden opportunity to ( almost) guarantee a finals spot with a win today. The old Melbourne, the one we know only too well, would come out today flat as a tac, and not look like threatening for the entire game..... But thats the Old MFC..... Isnt it? Today we can show we are the real deal. Its time... Go Dees.

Im sure many make their rating of ANB the same way they rate most others... their highlight reel This kid will never have the flashy fend-offs, the huge pack marks, the big spoils etc etc... He just isnt that type of player. What he does do better than most is run to contests, run to make space, run to fill space, run to block, run to present, run run run. Every team needs players of this type, and i reckon we are very lucky to have him. Reminds me a lot of Cotchin in that regard... Not a huge highlight reel, but heaps and heaps of repeat efforts that others dont or cant provide. Get around him.

North will take anyone who is prepared to come to them. It's not that much different to MFC from 5-10 years ago. The main difference IMO is that Norf is getting in before they bottom out, whereas we thought we were on the bottom and thought we were on the way up with all our high draft picks. North has performed well this year due to an easy draw, not because of their list. They KNOW they don't have much time left before they bottom out big time. It will be a long rebuild for the Kangas if they cant snag a couple of guns with all the cash they are offering up, but even then, a couple of good players won't get them a premiership. This time around, we have gone about it the way good teams do... build the basis of a premiership team from the draft, and trade for the missing pieces. Norf are us from a few years back... paying overs for decent players just to get someone to take the bait. (First signing will probably be Aaron Hall on big coin). Sainters will be the same this year. I have never been a fan of being "patient", in fact the last decade has shitted me to tears, but the Dees are showing that a slow, considered, focused rebuild is really the best way to go about it. Im a believer.

Watch the Nathan Jones interview on the club website and it also has a couple of hints that we are certainly in the hunt. I have very strongly suspected for months that we are a huge chance, and nothing from the past couple of days dampens that hope.

It wasnt that long ago our team would walk off the ground, week after week after week, with a hangdog expression on their faces because they had just copped another flogging. It must have been bloody hard coming to work every week knowing you would feel [censored] at the end of the day. Now that things are changing for the team (Due to their own hard work, it hasnt been gifted to 'em), i reckon its great to see smiles on their faces after a game. This team is forming some really strong bonds that hopefully will help us get us a cup or 3. If they want to have a bit of an in-joke after smashing the opposition, thats ok by me.

If nothing else, it shows how far our expectations have lifted. After years of being a terrible team (and probably club) its great that we have improved so much that some expect more, even with such a huge margin. I get where they are coming from, but personally im wrapt with today's result.

I feel so bad for Joel Smith. Before the injury, he was playing probably his best game for the club, and his attack on the contest was bloody great. Balls the size of watermelons that kid. Hope you make it back next year Joel, i rate you.
