  1. if we play our Darwin games well inside the dry season what are 'those conditions' you are talking about?
  2. Ever been to Darwin in the Dry Season? Games in the Dry Season months like July are played in much more less draining conditions than you might think. So you'd rather us play in Ballarat or Bendigo? Neither city has AFL standard stadiums and won't have any time soon. The AFL takes great pride in the fact that games are played in every State and Territory and the role the game plays in employing and engaging with indigenous Australians. By playing the games in the NT and by having our pre season camp there the MFC is in part vitally assisting the AFL in both aspects. We do need to work with the AFL to ensure that this is recognised and that the NT games mean less games at Etihad.
  3. The sides we play in Darwin will be the sides we generally play at Etihad. Should be a priority to have both games well out of the wet season and for the AFL to recognise our role in taking footy to the NT to ensure that an extra game in NT is one less game at Etihad and not one less game at the G. The conditions for the first game we played in Darwin in late May were incredibly oppressive. Subsequent games have been played in July when the conditions are much more friendly. I changed into jeans after the game this year. It was a tad chilly.
  4. I think the '1.5m for 4 years at GWS' = $1.5m per year not $1.5m total.
  5. Playing at 91.5kg this year with intent still to get him to 95 - 96kg. Source: Overhead somone who should know stating same in crowd at Dees v Saints NAB Cup game.
  6. After a second Misson/Craig Pre Season we will be more competitive physically. Both have a fine track record of conditioning players to play tough hard competitive footy. After a second Neeld pre season our players ability to implement a contemporary defensive game style should have improved. We were missing our 2 first choice key forwards and our 2 first choice key defenders against the Suns which will limit any team.
  7. its knowing when to go to an opposing player with the ball and when to go to his team mate to cut off his short release option. Generally if a team mate is going to the opposing player who has the ball the correct option is to shut down the short release option.
  8. and it is not payed the same amount as a Top 4 Team. We are paying 100% of the cap in 2013 now but we achieve that by bring forward payments to players due to be payed in 2014 under their contracts. So our actual 2013 spend might be 90 or 95%% of the cap. By doing this we create room in the salary cap going forward to either retain or attract players. Tim Harrington was bougfht to the club to 'regularise' our player payments structure and I am confident that he has done that.
  9. presume heat, humidity and Dees possibly wanting same day return to Melbourne.
  10. Overheard Watts' Dad telling friends that Watts is playing at 91.5 kgs this year and the aim is still to get him to 95 -96kg. For mine Watts has the attributes to be a great player and the current coaching and fitness personnel are far more equiped to assist him in realising his potential than those who proceeded them. He reads the play well, can take a contested mark, is quick and is a beautiful kick.
  11. Would seem like classic sponsorship contra to me.
  12. What is the basis of your belief that the club could do better?
  13. Hopefully no one at Essendon ever looked 'ashed faced' cause thats apparently a sign of great misconduct!
  14. I am training it. Plan to arrive early dawes in case buses are chockers etc. Every time I go to Casey Fields I get a better appreciation of the infrastructure chellenges of the sprawl. Lets hope this time I am not again separated from my wallet on Cranbourne station!
  15. Every coaching panel needs a whipping boy and Royal is ours. Not sure why. Lets face it we did not exactly had the fittest or most talented players before Neeld, Craig, Misson & Associates arrived.
  16. Tappy is strong and physical and a beautiful kick. Needs to get continuity in his training and playing but there is alot to like about the boy.
  17. Current forecast for Renmark on Sunday is mostly sunny and a top of 32 degrees.
  18. Why? Its still 4 weeks till the season starts and both players have been back and running for a month or more. Both players are also renowned as being very professional in their preparation so its not as if they will have stacked on the kilos whilst rehabbing their injuries and they would have been hitting the weights and cross training to maintain their general fitness levels before they started running . Misson has stated that both need 4 to 6 weeks in full training before they play. For mine they would have to come back through Casey for at least a couple of games to build match conditioning but that still has them back in the Dees jumper by approximately Round 5 if all goes to plan. Which gives them plenty of time to impact on the season.
  19. Ducking your head should be a reportable offence.
  20. Knowing when to go to the man with the ball still a work in progress but signs of improvement have begun. There were a few times still when 2 Demons went to the ball carrier leaving an easy handball release option for the ball carrier to an unmanned team mate. who was then able to set up play under limited pressure. As we get better at that judgement call we should force more turnovers or at a minimum more consistently prevent a quick forward transition by our opponents. All in all out structures were better and we looked more competitive physically in terms of strength and endurance. And a few kids showed a bit!
  21. Swings and roundabouts..when I compare the Tiges spine to our spine I see a talent shortfall. Key Defenders: Frawley and McDonald v Rance and Chaplin Key Forwards: Clark and Dawes v Riewoldt and Vickery
