  1. The MRP is very much Chooklotto. The Darren Glass penalty for jumping and cannoning front on into a player attempting to mark was a joke. If Viney does fall foul of the MRP we could raise the Sylvia v Josh Kennedy (WC) precedent.
  2. Who has not peered into the Precinct wondering whether its open or not? It always looks shut 'cept when you go by late at night and for reasons only known to themselves youthful types are queuing to get in down the side street. Back in the day it was much easier to work out if The Depot was open. No rush with Jessie Hogan. I doubt the club is taking any risks with his long term future.
  3. Beamer does not have endurance required to run hard both ways and if you can't do that you are not going to play in an AFL midfield in 2014. Given he is not strong enough overhead to play forward his future in the game is limited.
  4. He needs to work on his kicking in a vacant floor of an office block. Got to get the flat drop punt into his repertoire.
  5. We just have to trust that Paul Roos can over time make us as competitive as the Swans were under his stewardship. Lets face its a tough challenge given our mediocre performances in recent years. Its obvious that the players are trying to implement a possession oriented game plan which is almost a 180 degree reversal on the past couple of years. It is obvious that they are not going to master the decision making overnight. Its going to take time. Hopefully we see positive signs this season - maybe when we have some tall forwards on the park. Some players may not have the skill/decision making required. There are positives. Vince is the best kick in the team under pressure and has the midfield class that we lack. Tyson shows signs - a strong contested mark, a nice sidestep, a goal from 50 - to suggest that he will develop into a damaging midfielder with more games under his belt. Jay Kennedy-Harris looks a natural footballer with a forward's instincts. Used his pace offensively and defensively and had an impact when he came on. Nathan Jones has a heart bigger than PharLap.
  6. Mitch Clark is obviously facing significant mental health issues and is doing the right thing and getting the help he requires to help him deal with those issues. As his employer the Melbourne Football Club is doing the right thing and standing by him and supporting him as he seeks to get well. That makes me proud of my football club. You don't,
  7. No thanks to Ratten. Has never demonstrated that he possesses the communication skills required to be a good senior coach.
  8. Frawley's decision is crucial. At the start of the 2015 season he will be a 26 year old All Australian Defender. If his decision is to leave then our chance of success in the next 5 years is lessened significantly. Our chances of replacing him with a key defender of his quality and experience are minimal. The answer will be in Frawley's decision. Can we build to contend for a flag or are we a small, battling club who exists to develops players for the bigger, stronger clubs.
  9. In recent years we've generally been mauled the week after playing everywhere! Alice Springs mean high/low for May is 23/8.2 and June 19.8/5. Reasonably comfortable conditions for playing footy. Darwin mean high/low for July is 30.6/19.3. It is common sense that any game in Darwin has to be played in July when conditions are at their mildest. Our first game in Darwin was around May 22 from memory and the humidity was brutal enough as a spectator let alone for the players.

  11. Its pretty clear Hawks are on a mission not to repeat the sins of the 2008 Premiership hangover. We're still very much a work in progress. Even Paul Roos can't magically fix a 2 win and 50% team over 1 pre season. Its not just about bringing in more natural ball winners or some talented kids. Its about learning and implementing a contemporary game plan that stands up under pressure. God knows when we last had one of those. Maybe 1964 but that was 6 years before I was born. For the players that means making the correct decisions becomes the norm rather than something they have to think about. That is the job of Roos, Allison, Stone & Co and what they'll be judged on. But not after a few NAB Challenge games and a praccy match. It'd be handy too if Clark, Dawes and Hogan played a game or twenty together.
  12. 8 scoring shots to 4. We have to close the scoring shots gap but Roosy would know that.
  13. If Nathan Jones's cut under the eye resulted from Jordan Lewis bump then you'd think Lewis'd be up for a holiday.
  14. Get it from the club shop anf keep the profits in dee house.
  15. I can't believe you are posting on here when you could be working and earning a quid! Now I am one of those people who go to work and work and then go home and do non work stuff like pursuing hobbies. Quite normal really. This thread has degenerated into utter twaddle.
  16. You're doing it wrong. Very strange night for the AFL to schedule Pies v Dockers. Didn't they look at the at the foundation club's social calendar!
  17. Sylvia's weakness is footy smarts which really limits him as a mid in his positioning and decision making. If Freo have another good year he should play well as a half forward serviced by a winning midfield. He was an odd choice for Freo given they seem well stocked with quality medium forward types.
  18. There are 2 chances of getting the Junction Oval developed as a 30,000 capacity boutique stadium. Buckleys and Nunn. And they're not around anymore to be one of your financial backers. There is no political capital for any level of Government in investing tens of millions of dollars in such a redevelopment. Its most likely fate is a cricket centre of excellence. There is politcal capital in that and its much cheaper than the stadium. Casey makes sense. And I've never lived east of Warrigal Rd or west of Punt Rd. Every time I travel out to Casey another estate has started. For kids growing up out there Casey should be their local community team as they will grow up with it rather having the knowledge of it being a transplanted team. It'll be natural for them to follow Casey. We'll have to work hard on community engagement and it'll help for the Dees to be successful obviously. In tems of any further development of Casey Fields the marginal seats in the outer east may provide the political capital. I would like to see them rebranded as the Casey Demons playing in Melbourne colors.
  19. Free for AFL Members! I will be there.
  20. Bassett defending his players after Andrew Collins abused them at half time? Sounds to me like its Andrew Collins who has the issues...which may be a known known.
  21. Bassett's only issue I know of has been a reluctance to compromise his work/family balance by taking on the hours of an AFL Assistant Coach. However he has said in the last few days that if he wants to be a Senior AFL Coach he understands he needs to get back into the AFL system but taking on that commitment and moving cities is a more complex when you have a young family. Sounds pretty balanced to me. Was signed up by the Kangaroos but they withdrew their offer a few days later when Tudor became available.
  22. or he was just not very good... at his best Vince is a B Grader, never a gun, not against recruiting him, just wary of the price...
  23. generally gun footballers finish in their club's top 10 in the B n F when they play 21 games.
