  1. Score as above. The goal was Jetta but Bennell is playing well. Jack Grimes was apparently sore after training and was rested as a precaution. Paul Wheatley out for another 3 weeks but Aussie is due back in round 1. Better players - Bell, Bennell, Green, Dunn, Morton, Spencer.
  2. Fan has an umbrella - the wimp. Goal to Footscray from a free and a goal to Griffin puts the Dogs in front.
  3. We have the wind advantage this quarter and started with quick goals to Green, Newton and Davey before Acker got a chance to reply. Brock the Bald has just snagged one - 6.1.37 to 3.9.27.
  4. Goal to Jetta just before qtr time. The green maggots are right on the ball giving Footscray an armchair ride. Petterd very good. Better players Green, Spencer, Garland, Warnock, Jetta & Bennell. Dees 2.1.13 to Dogs 2.7.19 Redleg's hot tip - Rock Kingdom in the Randwick Guineas at 4.30.
  5. Miller just cracked it and cost us a certain goal. Free reversed & 50 m penalty. Just interviewed Robbo who was eating a burger. Assured me it was approved by the club nutritionist. Rain coming down - Dogs 2.7.19 to Dees 1.1.7
  6. Doggies off to a flyer but a brilliant handball from Meesen gives Miller first goal for us 1.0.6 to 2.3.15
  7. Jack Grimes out. Brock has shaved his head bald and looks like an alien. Spencer gets first hit out but the Dogs get first score - a behind.
  8. Just passing Strawberry Fields residential estate. Ten minutes away from the ground. This would be sensational except for the fact that Redleg's playing Doobie Brothers rubbish.
  9. Now discussing Colin Sylvia - nothing I would care to repeat here.
  10. Discussion centering on being ripped off by tradespeople and bad service in restaurants. Traffic moderate. Just passed Delarue Tyres in Carnegie - sellers of HANKOOK tyres. Good omen - I just hope we're travelling in the right direction to get to Casey.
  11. Slow start due to having to wait for Scoop Junior's mother having to make some sandwiches for him. We're still in Redleg's garage. The weather seems to be a bit better.
  12. Hope to do that if the iphone works. Today, I'm going to attempt to live blog the game with pre game comments in the car on the way there, scores at least at every interval and post game comments from the car on the way home. This is all subject to technology (including the battery) holding up in the wet conditions and Redleg managing to find his way to Casey Fields.
  13. Great post Goodvibes. While we all naturally crave instant success in terms of ladder position, it's clear that we have to be realistic in our expectations, especially given that we're coming off such a low base. The first thing I'd like to see at the club is that it gains respect for both its on and off field achievements. We've done well so far off field, despite the glitches with the major sponsorship. There are still a number of announcements to be made and we'd want to safely negotiate our way through them and show that we're out of the wars as far as our financial situation is concerned. That said, one of the best ways to earn respect in the football world is to perform out on the track. When you're coming off 3/19 that doesn't necessarily mean turning that around in one season to 19/3 but what it does mean is that you have to move forward to the point where you are in a position to reasonably expect finals appearances within two years and top four soon after. What it also means is that the team performs competitively every time it takes the field and that 10 goal plus thrashings become rarities rather than almost the norm as was the case in 2008. I'm confident we can achieve that modest goal and hopeful that we can go beyond that and pull off a few unexpected victories here and there against good opposition. Naturally, I expect (no demand) wins against Collingwood both times we play them and based on their performance last night I think that's a reasonable expectation!
  14. As far as I know - 4. Jack Watts (school) check Brighton Grammar's fixture 11. Paul Johnson (ankle) short term 12. Colin Sylvia (leadership group imposed suspension) round 1 if selected 19. Addam Maric (rehab after hip operation) reasonably soon 24. Russell Robertson (Achilles) another month, then Casey. 30. Tom McNamara (recovered from injury - probably with Casey next week) 31. Paul Wheatley (calf) reasonably short term 33. Austin Wonaemirri (hamstring) two more weeks (?) 35. Trent Zomer ® (Casey next week) 38. Daniel Hughes ® (unknown injury, unknown length of time out) 40. Mark Jamar (stress fracture in foot) long term - at least 8 weeks 45. Matthew Whelan (calf) hopefully reasonably short term 46. Sam Blease (school) check Yarra Valley's fixture 47. James Strauss (Casey next week) 48. Liam Jurrah (Casey next week) 49. Jordie McKenzie ® (Casey next week) 50. Rhys Healey ® (Casey next week)
  15. My take on Colin Sylvia's behaviour is that he must be rehearsing for a gig on The Footy Show panel. At least over there he can produce crap on a regular basis and get away with it.
  16. "Deplorable" isn't harsh enough a word for what I saw last night in what sometimes masquerades as a programme about the sport and, at other times, is supposed to be entertainment. It was more like torture. Shane Crawford set the tone with some senseless antics in his underwear and, incredibly, the show kept on going downhill from there. I taped it on Foxtel IQ (ironic in itself because the programme must surely cater for those who have no IQ) with the highlight of my evening being the uplifting buzz I got from pressing the delete button.
  17. Reports from PS3 in Cairns stated that PJ came off with what has variously been described as an ankle injury or a hip injury. The latter would be a bit ominous because he did have a hip op off season. He did come back onto the ground so it seems likely that it's a precautionary rest and hopefully nothing more.
  18. I believe they're expecting a "good year".
  19. I don't understand why they didn't wait to announce both co-sponsors. Surely that's what you would expect where you're going to run with a co-sponsorship situation?
  20. I'm bumping this up because it's an important thread. Does anyone have any contacts with The Footy Show? Even though I'm not a big fan of the programme, a segment on TFS would surely give this campaign a boost.
  21. Neale Daniher made a decision circa 2002/3 that Green was too talented to play simply as a forward and turned him into a midfielder who had occasional stints up forward. I'm not all that sure that Green's days as a forward are over. As our young midfield talent develops he might find himself there as a third forward - he's definitely capable of kicking goals.
  22. I think you need to be out a minimum of 8 weeks to be on the LTI. There were a few players I didn't notice at training but I didn't see anyone out there who would qualify as one.
  23. In the circumstances we don't want to be too kind or friendly to the Bulldogs or their sponsor. How about calling it the Dodgy Tortilla Cup?
  24. "The property had not used a drop of water from the project because a 2km extension to the property was never built." I also read the story and what the water board are doing seems totally unreasonable and unAustralian. I think this is a cause that all Melbourne and St. Kilda people should embrace. Let's contact our St. Kilda friends and between us we might be able to get some people power working out ways to help a legend of both our respective clubs.
  25. By my reckoning there are 11 players on our lists who haven't had at least one game in the NAB Cup/NAB Challenge series to date - Injured/rehab: Mark Jamar, Liam Jurrah, Addam Maric, Tom McNamara, Russell Robertson, Paul Wheatley. Special programme (students): Sam Blease, Jack Watts Rookies: Rhys Healey, Daniel Hughes, Jordie McKenzie If there is a practice game, we aren't going to see many faces that haven't been seen so far this year.
