  1. Herald Sun page 11 has a little par entitled "TURNOVER KING" "Jordan McMahon was signed by the Tigers over summer to provide dash from half-back, but last night many Richmond fans were questioning what the former Western Bulldog has to offer. McMahon repeatedly turned the ball over with both hand and foot - a problem at Punt Road for years." - Jon Pierek. Then you turn back to page 10 of the same newspaper under the heading "Scoreboard" and you read in the best players: "Tigers: Richardson, Johnson, Newman, Deledio, King, McMahon." Go figure?
  2. It has been reported that Jared Rivers missed training today and that he might be in doubt for tomorrow so it wouldn't surprise me if Nathan Carroll came back into the side.
  3. Paul Johnson was at training in Adelaide today so my guess is that the Johnson named in the best was Chris Johnson. Sandringham has two Johnstons - Marc and Tomi who are sons of Wayne Johnston the Caaaarlton premiership player of the 70's and '80's. All three emergencies were reported to be in Adelaide. It was also reported that Jared Rivers missed training and that he might be in doubt for tomorrow so it wouldn't surprise me if Nathan Carroll came into the side. This of course, makes Sandy's effort all the better as it had a few other MFC listed players missing as well as Chad Liddell, David Gallagher and Danny Hughes from the Zebra list all out as well.

  5. I'd like to but I'm sitting on my computer at home a few hundred miles away. All I can say is that with Geelong looking the loser in the other game, the Zebras move back into the top four.
  6. Full Time: Tasmania 4.4.28 4.6.30 5.9.39 7.9.51 Sandringham 3.6.24 10.12.72 18.14.122 31.17.203

  8. You're right by Geeves or is it Jeeves? Sandy: 15.14.104 Tassie: 4.7.31 No info on players as yet.
  9. I was wrong about the Coodabeens. Apparently they're going to cross to them after 1pm. They're now interviewing the great Tasmanian cricketer Brett Jeeves who's played one game for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. Awesome stuff!
  10. It is a bit of a yawn. Pity you folk down in Tassie - you're missing out on the Coodabeens! Half time: Tasmania 4.4.28 4.6.30 Sandringham 3.6.24 10.12.72
  11. Former Bulldog, Robert Groenewagen is being interviewed on Tassie’s ABC Grandstand. He says Tassie started a little slowly but worked their way in front late in the first quarter. The momentum has swung back Sandy’s way and they now have streaked away 9.11.53 to 4.6.30 (and I thought no Valenti, no Sandy!). The weather's better down there than it is in Melbourne! He’s also speaking about the success of the Tasmanian Under 18 team which has won all three games in the Under 18 championships (Div 2) and now goes on to the First Division and will play SA on the Adelaide Oval in its next game. Hawthorn which plays four home games at Launceston has more than 40% of the local Auskickers registering as Hawk supporters. It seems to me that this idea gives some credence to the concept of establishing a base at Casey Fields where the population is growing enormously.
  12. Quarter time: Tasmania 4.4.28 Sandringham 3.6.24

  14. There might be some interest in one of Tassie's young players Aaron Cornelius who is expected to be a high draft pick in November - Devil duty calls despite workload.
  15. PJ's return game at Sandringham last week was excellent and he has been included in the extended bench for Sunday's game against Adelaide. My question is whether people think he can be played in a tall forward role not unlike the one Hawthorn employs with Buddy Franklin? I'm fully cognisant of the fact that PJ doesn't have Buddy's talent but he (PJ) did play KPP when he was with the Eagles, he's a pretty agile footballer and while I don't expect him to excite and reach the heights the way Buddy does, his placement up there might cause opposition defences some problems.
  16. I too don't give a rat's about tonight's game and won't be watching. However, I will be going to watch my amateurs team play this afternoon as part of the AFL community weekend and, given the news that Glenn Archer has signed to play for Caulfield Grammarians in B Section, I'm happy for some of the blokes in my team that they were relegated to C Grade last year. Archer doesn't strike me as the typical Caulfield Grammarians though. Did he attend school there?
  17. What a magnificent sight. The only thing won this year by a team representing Melbourne. Isn't it about time something was done to change that?
  18. It wasn't that long ago that the Lions and the Bears were both basket cases. You need patience and in time, you'll see the tide will turn. You should go and support your team tomorrow because when we are successful in the future, the taste will be much sweeter because you stayed loyal when the team was down.
  19. If that's the sole reason why TJ was outed then there would be about 43 players on the mfc list who would be worried about their job security ATM.
  20. That's good because the Kevin Sheehan who works as the AFL's national talent manager said of him (Naitanui) last year that he plays like a young Adam Goodes and covers the ground much better - and he was only 16 at the time. I'd like to see him in this year's national championships and I'm sure cousin dazzledavey36 will keep us apprised of his height and growth over the coming monmths.
  21. Has we lost one more game last year then we might have been in a position where we don't have to make a choice but could take both. As it is, your argument would be good if all that Naitanui can do is get pretty hitouts. However, what would you say if he can do that and play like Adam Goodes as well?
  22. Some of the placements are very interesting in the light of the comments Andy Lovell made in his player review. Take this quote about Stef Martin:- "In the first half he played at full back, and played really well. His form has been very consistent this year. Each week he takes the opposition big forward, and he hasn’t yet been beaten one-on-one in that role. In the second half we moved him to half back, where he struggled a little, but he has steadily improved and we are looking to develop him into a key defender." Martin's been named at CHB where he "struggled a little" last week. I like the idea of testing young players in the hard positions to garner improvement rather than taking the easier options of playing them where you already know they can do well. It should hold him in good stead for the day he gets promoted. I also like what the coaches are doing with Addam Maric who should be playing AFL in the second half of the season if not earlier. These two are the best prospects we have at Sandy who have yet to wear the red and blue.
  23. Good luck with your call and thanks for mentioning the Demon supporter sites last time you broadcast a Sandy game. Is there any chance your signal will improve in the future (last time I was listening I kept hearing some bloke speaking Greek interrupting the call)?
  24. Bad luck Juice. Settle yourself down and you'll have a much better chance of making it in the game. Round 4 Michael Newton - Sandringham Guilty of Striking - 1 Match Suspension* *Denotes player opted for the prescribed automatic penalty
  25. Yeah right. I see that you understand perfectly what I've been saying. Incidentally, yo seem to think its indicative of good journalistic research to write that our "home ground attendances have been poor" when, in fact we've played only one home game this year and attracted 27,000 against the Western Bulldogs (instead of last home game against the Dogs which attracted 18,946). Again, the point I'm making is that we are under notice from the AFL to lift our game. The rest including attendance figures is just window dressing if we don't get our act together both on and off the field.
