  2. Good afternoon Demon fans! Well, after almost seven months of off field goings on and a month of pre season matches, drama and tragedy, it's on in earnest today. First game of the season is always a big day and it's even bigger today with a new coach, new players and a blank sheet. As usual, I just want the four points.
  3. I notice that he wore #7 playing for Vic Metro last year and, a few weeks back at Casey, also wore # 7. Perhaps he likes the number?
  4. Sri Lanka takes the first test from the Poms by 75 runs. Who's the no 1 test country ATM?
  5. I don't usually like it when Carlton wins but those Richmond supporters were really getting carried away during the week. I even heard a few on radio mentioning the P * word. * P = Premiership
  6. It's started all over again. Last year we saw the interesting phenomenon of players not named on the club's official injury list early in the week missing out on team selection. This week's nominees (i.e not on injury list & not playing) are:- • Ricky Petterd (missed training yesterday) • Dan Nicholson (recently seen in a moonboot at Casey Fields - "just as a precaution") • Colin Sylvia - suspended and injured - says he'll be back in round 3. No mystery there! • Leigh Williams - someone at the club forgot to put him on the injured list but we know he's injured. This week's Mystery injury of the Week goes to Ricky Petterd. Round one injury list Lucas Cook (groin) - 2 weeks Michael Evans (back) - indefinite Max Gawn (knee) - season Neville Jetta (ankle) - indefinite Liam Jurrah (wrist) - 4 weeks Jake Spencer (knee) - 6-8 weeks James Strauss (concussion) - 1 week Rory Taggert (back) - indefinite

  8. Given where Nicholson has come from - 2 years in the amateurs, 1 so far as a rookie, I'm of the view that he needs at least another year of development before we know where his career is going. Personally, I like that combination of endurance and pace. He needs to work on his skills and decision making. Couch is a goer but do we need both he and Magner competing against the other hard bodied mids who aren't exactly over-endowed with pace.
  9. That Richmond full forward line looks sensational with Miller and Maric in the two pockets.
  10. In other words, nothing's changed since last year.
  11. I stopped watching this programme many years ago but couldn't help set the Foxtel IQ to tape it because of Jack. Hope it's worth it and if not, there's still the old fast forward or, if it's really bad, the delete button.
  12. ■ Melbourne co-captain Jack Grimes, on the comeback trail from injury, also went off in the third term in what Lovett revealed was an instruction from the Demons' coaching staff. Interesting. Suggests that Grimes will be in the Melbourne side despite being used sparingly. Sounds like the decision was made soon after half time.
  13. He's not one of our boys any more.
  14. Jake Spencer has remained at 6 to 8 for the last two weeks.
  15. Story on the VFL site:- Casey in a thriller
  16. I wasn't in Adelaide for the last NAB Cup game but I thought Davis played in that game and this might have ruled him out of the VFL game. Again, not 100% certain but Cook should have been available for Casey this week so I've put him on the injured list below. Dan Nicholson is also listed there because he was wearing a moonboot (precautionary) out at Casey last week and didn't play this week. This is my unofficial injured list. It will be interesting to compare it with the official one. Cook, Lucas Evans, Michael ® Gawn, Max Jetta, Neville Jurrah, Liam Magner, James ® * Nicholson, Dan ® Spencer, Jake Sylvia, Colin Taggert, Rory Williams, Leigh ®
  17. I thought the coach's name was "Kevin"?
  18. I thought it was about what one would expect from a team that plays the Sydney style of game against a team of predominantly first gamers, and five players with previous AFL experience, some past their use by dates. Fortunately, that last point to the Swans made it a simple exercise to work out GWS's percentage at 37. The Giants have some promising young players and well they should have given the concessions they were granted and the knowledge that their rights to that large group of elite youngsters were virtually inviolable irrespective of their recruiting methods. However, they have no backbone of strong key position players. Cameron looked a prospect but heaven help them if they're relying on him and Setanta up forward. Power and Scully (if fit) will help.
  19. Played in the development league (aka reserves) and was neither in the goalkickers or best players.

  21. Thanks to all who contributed from the ground. Greatly appreciated and I'll have a good read. KC's up in Queensland and I just passed on the news. He said the result was a fair bit closer than the State election up there.
  22. No TV and as far as I know no radio. The local Casey Radio station used to broadcast the games but for some reason (budgetary?) they axed it last year. I don't think they're doing it this year but I haven't checked. KC from Casey can't make it because of interstate work requirements so anyone wishing to send in reports or post scores from the ground, please feel free.
  23. What I don't get about this poaching thing is why Demetriou is concerned about clubs poaching other clubs' assistant coaches while proudly applauding GWS poaching a 19 year old kid after playing one season and a year ahead of the end of his contract. Smells of rank hypocisy and arrogance but that's the AFL these days.
