Wow, the gossip columnist has issued an apology Caroline Wilson apologises to North Melbourne's Director of Medical Services. Very humbling given she's such a know all.

I can't see why the role of heading the club into the future should not be an enticing prospect. We're not broke as we we were five years ago; in fact we're in the black thanks to the work of the current board and administration which includes Cameron Schwab. There are clearly going to be some changes as a result of the interim stewardship of Peter Jackson who obviously has the backing of the AFL and yes, we have a team that can only go one way and that's up. The right person for the job needs to be a positive thinker and a doer, a concept that some people cannot comprehend.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

MACCA'S CUP WRAP For someone his age a 15+ beep test is very good. However, last time I saw him he was shorter and lighter than Jack Viney so he needs to grow a bit. That six goal BOG effort from last week mentioned above was accompanied by an impressive 34 disposals. We should see more of him in the Under 18 national championships later in the year. -
INJURY LIST - ROUND 5 - aka the Dave Misson Appreciation thread

Expect a fairly strong Casey side to take on Williamstown this weekend Dawes earmarked for VFL return -
The lack of understanding about the rule of law which underpins the principles of our democratic society is palpable. People are found guilty around here on the basis of supposition and guesswork. Guilty until they can prove their innocence even if the charge is based on rumour, innuendo and the say so of people who have zero credibility. Welcome to the banana republic Redleg.

Mark Neeld has been the subject of a number of whispering campaigns that have found their way quickly to the media and later found to be untrue. I think his suggestion about taking this sort of thing to court was probably a timely warning not only to the journos who spread the scuttlebutt but to the bottom feeders who originate the stories. I suspect that in some cases the club knows who they are.

INJURY LIST - ROUND 5 - aka the Dave Misson Appreciation thread

Larkins' credibility took a bit of a nosedive when he declared two years ago that Tom Scully's knee injury was potentially career threatening and one which would severely restrict him for the remainder of his time in the game. On what I saw last Sunday that doesn't appear to be the case but of course, I'm not a medico.Perhaps we should be asking Dr. Turf who seems just as qualified and a Demon fan as well. -
I think a few here have gone for this - In Blease McKenzie, Strauss Out Jetta (suspended) Viney (rest) Clark (ankle) I would move Jack Watts forward but accept that's probably unlikely based on the coach's apparent desire to make him a defender.

Don't we all wish our club president could say that?

Interesting to see who Robert Shaw picks as his certainty this week.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Whispering_Jack replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pardon my ignorance but am I right to assume that if an anti-obesity drug was used, it was for purposes other than curing obesity? I mean I don't see many Fat Alberts running around the MFC or any other clubs and Mick "The Galloping Gasometer" Nolan hasn't been around for quite a while. -
Too early to say we stuffed up (again) in not picking Wines?

Thread locked at request of the poster who initiated it. It's too early to say it's too early. Thanks, -

He should have quit over the tanking farce which made a mockery of his several pronouncements over a long period of time and including his public comments of support for Melbourne immediately after the Jordie McMahon game. On anyone's definition of corporate governance he's a failure, the billion dollar broadcast rights deals on his watch notwithstanding. -

You're not suggesting that there are club boards other than the MFC that might have advertently or inadvertently misled the AFL on player drug use in the past or even the present are you? -
DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ROUND 4

For once, we won't be struggling to find six but I have a feeling N Jones might figure. -

He could always use the "it wasn't me, it was the monkey brains they fed us" defence. And yes, I know it's a bit "flawed" but why not give it a fly?
-
Kevin Sheedy, I mean. Fair dinkum, if he couldn't coach that mob to a win today, he's ... gawn!
-
We had better win this because on what I've seen so far, there won't be too many more. We couldn't hit the side of a barn.
-
We don't condone violence on this site. The remark about Scully should be ignored.

However, under the Demonland corporate governance guidelines, you are guilty of a serious breach. Take this as a final warning that if your brother posts that sort of thing on here again under your name, you're the one who'll be held responsible and banned for some time. Thanks

Oh ... kay ... let me test this out ... (clears throat) Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I am here to present the case on behalf of the Defendant in this action. You have heard the prosecution present its case and I have only one thing to say about the evidence put forward by the prosecutor. His case is "flawed". The defence rests. Redleg ... could you please run the above argument when you next appear in court (preferably not with one of my clients) and let me know how the argument flies with the judge or jury?
-
You're actually making a point? Go figure?
-
Does anyone have the slightest idea what he's trying to say and how he's addressed the point I made? Not me. It seems to me that unless you drown yourself in groupthink you have no right to an opinion these days?
