  1. I live in an area that has a relatively high concentration of Carlton supporters. So much so that there's a traffic jam in the street outside packed with carloads of Blues fans arriving home early from the G.
  2. It's a bit like the war between Iran and Irak in the 80s. Nobody cares much who wins.
  3. Not sure if Spencer can fit in, notwithstanding Freo's tall rucks.
  4. In relation to the dealing over the Scully compensation, I think that included in all of the machinations was the fact that we managed to get Jack Viney as a second round draft pick rather than a first round pick which was helpful in the overall scheme of things and it will look even better if Jimmy T makes it in the end.
  5. Twenty-three years of age is young for an aspiring test cricketer who has shown some promise as an all rounder to toss it in. The messages he must be getting from cricket authorities must be pretty negative if it's true that he wants to change sports. Before considering him, a club would have to do some due diligence on the reasons why he wasn't offered a cricketing contract for next season.
  6. I think this has dragged on long enough and everybody has had their say. Signing off.
  7. Well, we were above average in the NAB Cup against Freo last month when we kicked a mammoth 6.7.43, weren't we?
  8. Another mock draft from Over the Line Sports
  9. John Burns, radio announcer (Melbourne)
  10. Here are the match statistics which might throw some light on who comes in for Neville Jetta and Dean Kent (or possibly add to the confusion): Rohan Bail 1 goals 10 disposals 7 kicks 3 handballs 2 marks 2 tackles 44 dream team points Jack Fitzpatrick 8 disposals 3 kicks 5 handballs 3 marks 30 dream team points Max Gawn 7 disposals 1 kicks 6 handballs 3 tackles 26 hit outs 48 dream team points Jack Grimes 19 disposals 12 kicks 7 handballs 4 marks 9 tackles 97 dream team points James Harmes 1 goal 2 behinds 19 disposals 8 kicks 11 handballs 2 marks 6 tackles 78 dream team points Matt Jones 1 behind 19 disposals 10 kicks 9 handballs 4 marks 6 tackles 80 team points Jordie McKenzie 20 disposals 13 kicks 7 handballs 2 marks 5 tackles 66 dream team points Cam Pedersen 3 goals 13 disposals 6 kicks 7 handballs 5 marks 3 tackles 68 dream team points Aidan Riley 1 behind 23 disposals 5 kicks 18 handballs 3 marks 7 tackles 83 dream team points Jake Spencer 18 disposals 8 kicks 10 handballs 6 marks 2 tackles 28 hit outs dream 92 team points Billy Stretch 1 goal 1 behind 16 disposals 8 kicks 8 handballs 3 marks 7 tackles 82 dream team points Dean Terlich 15 disposals 13 kicks 2 handballs 2 marks 6 tackles 72 dream team points Jimmy Toumpas 1 behind 27 disposals 18 kicks 9 handballs 6 marks 6 tackles 109 dream team points
  11. Interesting comments in the Herald Sun Barometer: We look at every team after Round 4 and how they are shaping up in The Barometer I don't know who this Ben Jacobs is but Ben Newton says "hello".
  12. Clarkson has issued a statement of regret about the incident in which he acknowledges that he has a responsibility as a father a coach and a leader to set an example for the community. While he "lost it" when lashing out at the drunk who was harassing him, he should have had enough presence of mind to avoid what happened. One of my grandsons plays soccer (yes, I know) and one of his teammates playing his first game yesterday also "lost it" and abused the referee and, at one stage came very close to lashing out at him. It makes the task of explaining to kids that they need to control their behaviour all the more difficult when adults behave badly and in this case both the Clarkson and the drunk let themselves down and the publicity this has been getting won't be lost on the young and impressionable in the community.
  13. And a very intelligent poster at that if I remember correctly. These allegations are all hearsay and I wouldn't give them much credibility unless something more substantive comes to light.
  14. Yes, I have a lot of relatives.
  15. Killing Heidi - Melbourne?
  16. 64 grand final?
  17. Was Redleg representing him or was it someone else from the bar?
  18. Nevertheless, our decision making and execution when it comes to both kicking and handball are substantially better now than they have been at any time in the past decade and on Friday night, apart from right at the beginning, we were far superior to Richmond in this area. Footballers need to be switched on and aware of the conditions and their opponents when executing the skills of the game and it usually comes with experience. That's why teams like the four who played last nights games are so good.
  19. Been out for dinner tonight and haven't been watching but I hope the Swans are giving it to Freo in terms of physical pressure and that, combined with the trip to Melbourne they're going to be flat next Sunday.
  20. Agree ... he's struggling for form and needs to get some confidence. If it's in order for Jack Grimes to go back there for a spell, then the same should go for Jack Watts.
  21. Thanks Sue - I stand corrected and have corrected - I hope.
  22. What an absolute pleasure it is to consider the prospect of following the remainder of this round knowing we have the four points from last night in the bag? The first game today starts in a little more than an hour at Westpac Stadium in Wellington NZ between two of my least loved opposition clubs in Carlton and St. Kilda - it promises to be a boring contest. I hope the players follow the example of those Collingwood players and eat lots of steak in the land of the long white cloud
  23. ... and keep an eye on this bloke who is definitely going places
