  1. Jordan Clark, who is contracted at Geelong for 2022, has met with Dockers coach Justin Longmuir and other club officials in Perth and is one step closer to requesting a trade to Fremantle.
  2. Phil Inn (Brayden Sier) is out at Collingwood.
  3. Pick 20 probably wouldn’t do it. Once you factor in father/sons like Daicos and Darcy that pick might become 22.
  4. Seven has formed a partnership with AFL Draft Central for the draft period. Michael Alvaro is a bit of a Mac Andrew groupie so you can expect him to continue featuring high on his draft boards.
  5. Meanwhile, SEN’s website looks at the type of player each club should prioritise during the trade period. Here is what they came up with for Melbourne:- Melbourne’s rapid rise has been largely on the back of smart trading and shrewd recruitment, so don’t expect Simon Goodwin’s side to be resting on their laurels despite their Grand Final appearance. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where they need to strengthen so perhaps more midfield depth through the draft is where they’ll look to bolster their stocks. They have also been linked with Fremantle’s Adam Cerra. Sam Weideman is widely tipped to depart, so the Dees could have some additional draft capital. They currently do not have a first-round pick, which will make it harder for them to get deals done in the trade period.
  6. On Fox Footy’s AFL Tonight, reporter Ben Waterworth covered the draft news with some vision of Mac Andrew who he said was quickly rising up draft boards. He placed Mac at #8. His top 10 - 1. Nick Daicos (Oakleigh Chargers) 2. Jason Horne-Francis (South Adelaide) 3. Sam Darcy (Oakleigh Chargers) 4. Finn Callaghan (Sandringham Dragons) 5. Ben Hobbs (GWV Rebels) 6. Josh Ward (Northern Knights) 7. Josh Gibcus (GWV Rebels) 8. Mac Andrew (Dandenong Stingrays) 9. Josh Rochele (Murray Bushrangers) 10. Jye Amiss (East Perth)
  7. Yes, and we owe this massive windfall to his vision when the club took over the assets of the then failing Bentleigh Club. The end price is massive although we need an accountant to tell us how massive because I would imagine that unless the club’s exempt from capital gains tax, a large amount of the windfall could go to the tax man.
  8. The new deal for Tom McDonald comes a year after he was shopped around for a trade. Most likely the remuneration has been reworked to give the club additional room to move with regard to future trading, possibly with Adam Cerra in mind. Recently, the club announced a contract extension for Joel Smith and it brought out the best in Smith for a few games. Good sign for TMac
  9. VFL season review: Casey Demons
  10. Granted she gets more right than wrong but there are some exceptions. She often gets it wrong on matters to do with Melbourne and for some reasons is often not strong on Richmond. On this story, she got it terribly wrong.
  11. It’s becoming a classic in Australian football literature. If you haven’t bought it yet, please do before the next hurrah overtakes the last one. The Oval Ball Book Club: The Last Hurrah
  12. This is so very true and isn’t it great that we, as Demon fans, still have a week or so to concentrate on more important things before we turn our full focus and attention to things like management of our list for the future?
  13. Caroline Wilson is an acclaimed journalist. Completely believable when she’s light on for real news.
  14. What do you make of this? Contracted Demon open to move, Tigers in talks with ex-Crow
  15. From the Herald Sun’s AFL Draft 2021 Dossier: Profiles and stats on all the top prospects “Mac Andrew Ruck/Key Forward/Key Defender Age: 12/4/2003 Weight: 70kg Height: 200cm Club: Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country Stats 2021 NAB League (6 games) 87 ranking points, 12.7 disposals, 12.7 hitouts, 2.7 marks A Melbourne Next Generation Academy member, Andrew has emerged “out of nowhere” to sit as a likely top-20 draft pick this year. The athletic tall was added to the NAB AFL Academy squad in April after a dazzling start to the season with the Stingrays and caught the eye in the Academy team’s exhibition match against Geelong’s VFL team in April. In that match, Andrew was used at full-forward and full-back with limited impact in the opening three quarters. But his favoured position is in the ruck and he shone when given an opportunity in that position in the last quarter. The mobile big man covers the ground effortlessly, is a nice kick, possesses a giant jump and becomes an extra midfielder once the ball hits the ground out of the ruck contest. His upside is enormous”.
  16. Where would we be without Nathan Jones? Certainly not where we are now - staring directly at our best opportunity in almost six decades to win the holy grail. This one is for everyone who participated as a member of our playing list and you will always be part of it.
  17. Andy Moniz-Wakefield Midfielder “Age: 26/10/2003 Weight: 73kg Height: 180cm Club: NT Thunder/Allies Stats 2021 NAB League (2 games) 121 ranking points, 23 disposals, 5.5 marks, 5.5 clearances A wingman or outside midfielder, Moniz-Wakefield is a smooth mover and uses the ball well. He was one of the standouts for NT Thunder in the two NAB League games they played this year, after making his senior NTFL debut for Nightcliff as a 16-year-old in the 2020-21 season. Moniz-Wakefield possesses breakaway speed, good agility and uses the ball well. He is clever around stoppage situations and works hard to find space. Moniz-Wakefield is a member of Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy”.
  18. Brisbane ruckman Archie Smith is seeking a release from the Lions after struggling to get game time this season. And a new suitor for Richmond’s Mabior Chol who could be set for a move up to the Gold Coast.
  19. Not sure but it might be streamed but try the Ch. 7. I think you can get things like that on one of their online channels connected to SA.
  20. The Dockers are said to have out of favour e Gold Coast midfielder Will Brodie on their radar as a possible replacement for Adam Cerra.
  21. There are a few decent footballers in that team. Corey Warner (brother of Sydney’s Chad) was on the opposite wing to Taj in the WA vs SA game a couple of weeks ago and Josh Browne starred in the midfield for WA. Jed Hagan is an under age player who isn’t eligible until next year. These blokes will all be playing in the AFL soon.
  22. Well, whatever the case, the drafting will be overseen again by Jason Taylor who has signed a new long-term deal to stay at the Demons.
  23. Well the Redlegs lost a tight game by 7 points. Scores were level at half time. The Eagles led by a goal at 3/4 time and that was the margin halfway through the last. Norwood scored two points but the Eagles finished off the low scoring affair with three behinds. That leaves the Redlegs playing in the First Semi Final against South Adelaide.
  24. The Bulldogs’ total domination over Port Adelaide is great for us - removes any chance of treating the game as anything other than a contest to be won by hard work against a strong opponent. Heads firmly fixed on the ground and concentrating fully on the job ahead.
  25. INDICATIVE DRAFT ORDER (before AFL 2021 Grand Final) ROUND ONE 1. North Melbourne 2. GWS Giants 3. Gold Coast 4. Adelaide 5. Hawthorn 6. Carlton 7. Richmond 8. Fremantle 9. St Kilda 10.
