  1. What do you make of this? Contracted Demon open to move, Tigers in talks with ex-Crow
  2. From the Herald Sun’s AFL Draft 2021 Dossier: Profiles and stats on all the top prospects “Mac Andrew Ruck/Key Forward/Key Defender Age: 12/4/2003 Weight: 70kg Height: 200cm Club: Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country Stats 2021 NAB League (6 games) 87 ranking points, 12.7 disposals, 12.7 hitouts, 2.7 marks A Melbourne Next Generation Academy member, Andrew has emerged “out of nowhere” to sit as a likely top-20 draft pick this year. The athletic tall was added to the NAB AFL Academy squad in April after a dazzling start to the season with the Stingrays and caught the eye in the Academy team’s exhibition match against Geelong’s VFL team in April. In that match, Andrew was used at full-forward and full-back with limited impact in the opening three quarters. But his favoured position is in the ruck and he shone when given an opportunity in that position in the last quarter. The mobile big man covers the ground effortlessly, is a nice kick, possesses a giant jump and becomes an extra midfielder once the ball hits the ground out of the ruck contest. His upside is enormous”.
  3. Where would we be without Nathan Jones? Certainly not where we are now - staring directly at our best opportunity in almost six decades to win the holy grail. This one is for everyone who participated as a member of our playing list and you will always be part of it.
  4. Andy Moniz-Wakefield Midfielder “Age: 26/10/2003 Weight: 73kg Height: 180cm Club: NT Thunder/Allies Stats 2021 NAB League (2 games) 121 ranking points, 23 disposals, 5.5 marks, 5.5 clearances A wingman or outside midfielder, Moniz-Wakefield is a smooth mover and uses the ball well. He was one of the standouts for NT Thunder in the two NAB League games they played this year, after making his senior NTFL debut for Nightcliff as a 16-year-old in the 2020-21 season. Moniz-Wakefield possesses breakaway speed, good agility and uses the ball well. He is clever around stoppage situations and works hard to find space. Moniz-Wakefield is a member of Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy”.
  5. Brisbane ruckman Archie Smith is seeking a release from the Lions after struggling to get game time this season. And a new suitor for Richmond’s Mabior Chol who could be set for a move up to the Gold Coast.
  6. Not sure but it might be streamed but try the Ch. 7. I think you can get things like that on one of their online channels connected to SA.
  7. The Dockers are said to have out of favour e Gold Coast midfielder Will Brodie on their radar as a possible replacement for Adam Cerra.
  8. There are a few decent footballers in that team. Corey Warner (brother of Sydney’s Chad) was on the opposite wing to Taj in the WA vs SA game a couple of weeks ago and Josh Browne starred in the midfield for WA. Jed Hagan is an under age player who isn’t eligible until next year. These blokes will all be playing in the AFL soon.
  9. Well, whatever the case, the drafting will be overseen again by Jason Taylor who has signed a new long-term deal to stay at the Demons.
  10. Well the Redlegs lost a tight game by 7 points. Scores were level at half time. The Eagles led by a goal at 3/4 time and that was the margin halfway through the last. Norwood scored two points but the Eagles finished off the low scoring affair with three behinds. That leaves the Redlegs playing in the First Semi Final against South Adelaide.
  11. The Bulldogs’ total domination over Port Adelaide is great for us - removes any chance of treating the game as anything other than a contest to be won by hard work against a strong opponent. Heads firmly fixed on the ground and concentrating fully on the job ahead.

  14. There’s a SANFL double header tomorrow afternoon at Adelaide Oval. Norwood have a tough job taking on the Eagles in the 3.45pm game. No doubt Demon fans in Adelaide will be there to reciprocate the support given by Redlegs fans when we took on the Lions. It’s a little more complex in Perth where the Perth Demons wear red and black. They didn’t make the WAFL finals. However, the West Perth Falcons are in the finals and their colours are red and blue. They’re playing Swan Districts tomorrow afternoon. It’s great to see lots of red and blue support in both SA and WA!

  16. Bummer. The Poms have beaten India in the Fifth Test with greater ease than this.
  17. I’ll blow a fuse if they show the Wiggles ad again.
  18. Swans midfielder Jordan Dawson has requested a trade to his home state of South Australia.
  19. Every heart beats … ❤️💙
  20. • REPORT: Richmond pair Mabior Chol and Callum Coleman-Jones are being targeted by the Gold Coast Suns as the Suns look to bolster their forward stocks.
  21. Adelaide’s Jake Kelly is on the radar of North Melbourne as the free agent considers a return to Victoria.
  22. There’s a two page spread in today’s Herald Sun entitled “Who your club will target with its top pick at this year’s AFL national draft — FIRST QUENCHER” (unfortunately, I can’t provide a link that’s not behind their firewall but it’s on p66-67 for those who get the paper or have a subscription). This is what they say about us — “MELBOURNE INDICATIVE DRAFT PICKS: 33, 42, 52, 91 WHAT DID THEY DO IN THE FIRST AND SECOND ROUNDS OF THE DRAFT LAST YEAR? The Demons ended up with a pair of first-round picks last year in classy 176cm defender Jake Bowey (pick 21) and 181cm midfielder-forward Bailey Laurie (pick 22). They also snapped up 194cm midfielder-forward Fraser Rosman in the second round with pick 34. WHO’S IN THE MIX? CHANGES to Next Generation Academy rules this year have worked against the Demons, who are unlikely to be able to get their hands on an exciting player who they have put some work into in 200cm ruckman-forward Mac Andrew. The Dandenong Stingrays prospect has been part of Melbourne’s NGA program since 2018 but is expected to be selected in the top 20 picks. Under new rules this year, clubs are unable to match bids on their NGA talent within the first 20 selections. There are no major list holes, but another key forward could be on the shopping list if there are any suitable prospects left on the table in the 30s or 40s or if the Demons package up picks and trade up the order”. That’s all there is.
  23. He’s a journalist. That’s his job.
  24. Michael Hibberd set to be re-called for Melbourne’s prelim after defender’s bitter injury blow
  25. Some highlights to savour from the last final played between Melbourne and Geelong three years ago to this day …
