  1. It’s been reported that the Casey Demons vs Sydney game will probably be played on 22 May (Covid19 allowing), meaning that they’ll be switching the byes around. Point taken about the nonsense VFL Eastern Seaboard 22 team competition that allows for a 16 game regular season.
  2. Perhaps a change in the sub but that would be all.
  3. The club’s momentum was disrupted early last week against North Melbourne but the younger players stood tall and steadied the ship in the second half. The task is to continue in that vein tonight against a team that has for years maintained mastery over us on our own home turf.
  4. Cornes is entitled to his opinion but in this case his thinking is rather one-dimensional. There would be a number of factors behind the amount and duration of the contract going well beyond the individual in this case. In contrast to the other recent high profile long term contract (Grundy) this one was not conceived out of haste or panic or within a scenario where the club will fall into a salary cap trap. The new deal gives the club time and scope to settle its playing list. We also have a number of players who are coming to the end of their careers. I can think of half a dozen who are likely to end up this year with a couple of potential trades out as well that would leave us well placed to bring in at least one quality ready made player as well as additional youth. Compare that with Collingwood which, as a result of its salary cap madness which stemmed in part from the Grundy contract, is in heaps of draft and salary cap trouble and with low morale at least in the short term. Apart from anything else, others look at Melbourne and the way the team’s playing and the message is all positive. Add the fact that our best players are making these commitments to their club and teammates and the outcome is a happy, feel good place. That’s the sort of atmosphere you need for success.
  5. Thanks Bob. Like many others I was on both sites and it wasn’t a case of real rivalry because we often got together for functions and of course, forum footy, where we dominated the other forums. My highlights were coaching a game in which we had both Nev Jetta’s father and brother with the dad being the most coachable player you would ever want (wherever he went, so did the footy). Also, the day we played Collingwood and I put Supermercado at FF and he kicked a goal against Collingwood’s 300 kg full back who was making a comeback after a few years “inside”. Dazzle was pretty good too. We also tried our very best to help out when Tim Stanes (Demonology founder) fell ill and couldn’t run the site any more. Our combined functions at the Mountain View Hotel in Richmond before games were also good value. Perhaps, when we finally get over Covid19 and win a flag (may both come soon), we could organize a reunion.
  6. Not sure whether this gem from today’s Herald Sun is intentional or a typo but is there a better job description for Ned Guy’s role at Collingwood than a “lost manager”?
  7. Actually, just realised they traded their first round pick last year. Bad luck Pies.
  8. I’m hoping that they have a few wins before they play us so they don’t have to treat the QB game as their grand final although we do need their crowd. Also would prefer they finish about 4th last so that come draft time, someone nominates Nick Daicos ahead of their pick.
  9. On Saturday, May 8, club recruiters will get a chance to see some of the best contenders for the mid-season draft feature in the Colgate Young Guns game for Under 23 prospects at Werribee Oval (2.40pm). There’s an article for subscribers only in the Herald Sun by Chris Cavanagh about the 52 players selected, mostly from the NAB Boys League. 10. He has his critics but I always find Knightmare good reading ~ AFL Draft - May's Power Rankings: Jason Horne, Nick Daicos duke it out for No. 1 spot
  11. The Casey Demons return to their home ground this Sunday when they play host to the Sydney Swans. Start time is the ungodly 11:05am. Anyone know if it’s on Kayo?
  12. Anything that Supermercado writes is worth a read. After his debut book, I’m certain this will make it to the top book sellers list if not a Nobel Prize for Literature. All Demon fans should buy this - you can order your copy here - THE LAST HURRAH
  13. For heaven’s sake man. We’re all trying to keep the lid on.
  14. With a name like Foot, so he should.
  15. Yes, but don’t they usually come out with some form of statement about any incident that might be controversial even if no charge is laid?
  16. Can you add to this list?
  17. There was a piece very early last week somewhere on social media that Jack had gone in for scans on his foot. It would seem that the club managed to keep the story under wraps for almost the whole week. Not sure if there’s value in doing this.
  18. We really do owe this mob big time. These were the lineups for that fateful game at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns last September:- THE TEAMS SYDNEY SWANS FB Aliir Aliir Lewis Melican Robbie Fox HB Jake Lloyd Callum Mills Ryan Clarke C Jackson Thurlow Luke Parker Nick Blakey HF Will Hayward Sam Reid Lewis Taylor FF Tom Papley Tom McCartin Jordan Dawson FOL Callum Sinclair Josh P. 19. The Viney injury story was going around earlier in the week so it’s no surprise.

  21. Disgusting that they can only draw 24,000 to a game against an interstate club. Pathetic.
  22. He could be right in the end.
  23. Does anyone know how much Howe’s on? At least those who are angry at him for his sour grapes comments might get some satisfaction from thinking that his wage is contributing to Collingwood’s current list management woes.
