  1. Carro is a muck-raking fool who has largely become irrelevant. She is writing her own narrative in a bid to unsettle MFC and Buckley. Great that the 🌽 pulled her up on Tassie being a better prospect than Melbourne.
  2. Was at Marvel for his debut and was really impressed. Worth persisting with. As others have pointed out, needs to learn to spoil in D50 or take marks if he is gonna fly. Twice it cost us yesterday. I’m sure that’ll be highlighted in his review this week. Other than that, he is good at reading the play. Moves well and can be an aerial threat. There is much to like.
  3. I don’t think that was the main reason I offered for not being keen on him
  4. We are in transition/rebuild phase. I don't know that going down the untried coach path is what we should be doing to be honest. I know very little about Daly, other than he has been involved in a lot of AFL clubs and never played AFL. He seems like a good bloke, but one suited more to a GM of Football role. If the Club looked worse under his leadership at the beginning of the season next year, he doesnt have the credits in the bank to appease the faithful. Crowds and sponsorship would drop off. The media scrutiny would build. It is a lot on a 'newbie'. He may be great, it's just not the path I'd be going down. I just feel like Buckley could build a professional culture and command respect instantly. I feel he has a fire inside that yearns for a flag, something that has eluded him, despite other degrees of success. He will be hungrier the 2nd time around.
  5. Who is Davis Jarra?
  6. Great post. Sums it up perfectly
  7. Was there something more to the fact we trained at Kevin Bartlett reserve yesterday? We once looked at that site to develop a home base. It then went quiet. Could the new Pres and CEO be about to explore it again ?
  8. Listen to Phil Davis on Whately. Bloke reckons there are "better jobs out there" - love to know which ones. Said the drive to Casey will deter potential coaches. He played for a club based in Blacktown, who play home matches in Canberra...did it impact the Giants? He said it detered players who left making list retention difficult...which players left our club for reasons other than returning to their home state or lack of oppportunity?. Dingley is 1 hour from Melbourne CBD...Have Hawthorn had issues in this regard? just junk hyperbole opinion nonsense. Sticking the boots in.
  9. Only if the AFL apptrove, which they did for Clarkson. You'd hope there would be a degree of conistency, but it's the AFL. I'd hope the Board asked this question before making its decision.
  10. Just listened to him talking with Whately. Agree with your synopsis...however, to me it was, "yeah, I'm hungry and keen, I need to get my head back in that space, as this is the first real opportunity I've had to think about it, but I like the list and think the culture and fortunes can turn quickly". I reckon he may emerge as a front-runner. FWIW, I think he would be better the second time around. I think he would be better coaching outside of the Collingwood bubble he was a part of for so long. I think he would build immediate connections with players and demand instant respect from them. He has been my preference for a while, based on the way he analyses our games. He may have been watching closely for other reasons, who knows?
  11. Will move into mark Williams’ role
  12. We need to abandon Casey from this pre-season. Just use what we have at Gosch's/AAMI.
  13. Thank you Goody. You took us to the promised land. Unfairly hounded by media. However, it was time for change.
  14. Wonder if this is effective immediately, or if he coaches out the season. Who will coach the side this week? Thanks for the Premiership Simon. Will always appreciate it. It's time for the new era at the Dees! With the young talent we have, I hope we can rejuvinate quickly!
  15. Fluff piece from Jay Clark, who I cannot believe is the Chief of Football at the HS. Tells you a lot about the decline in the standard of journalism in this country. There is nothing in the article that says anything about how Hawthorn, or any other club, would actually facilitate a trade. Throwing up the glut of forwards at the Hawks is not really a well-thought-out viable trade solution or scenario. This article belongs in the Media Madness thread. The media seem hellbent on inventing narratives and willing a trade of Melbourne superstars. I'm a realist, and understand that we need to give something to get something and improve, but throwing up the Hawks and not mentioning any picks to facilitate a trade is pure lazy opinion, agenda driven nonsense!
  16. We need to pick Campbell and play a second ruck, allowing Gawn to play more behind the ball, to give the backs help with their talls.
  17. Also, he pulled his kicks on 45 degree angles, late, which is an art form that only few of our players master..’Melksham and Chin being a couple notable others. It’s clever and hard to defend. Lift the veil of negativity
  18. No, it’s kicking to players leading to 20m out, showing composure, and not bomb kicking it to the goal line where it’s easily defended and a point is conceded. Football 101. Something that a couple of higher paid mids have been doing for three years.
  19. You are joking right? Go watch his two entry kicks inside 50 to the proper ‘hotspot’ that resulted in goals. A welcome point of difference from the bomb kick
  20. gross mismanagement right at the period when we experienced an ounce of success.
  21. I'd be flabbergasted if any player of any note asked to come to melbourne. We are so far off it as an organisation, we have very little pull at all. The best we can hope for is some more fringe players like Derksen, who will end up at Casey like all our other recruits.
  22. He acted unprofressionally and irrationally and poo poo'd on his own club, which detered Houston and spun us into a media circus. He WAS/IS part of the problem. He has failed to improve his set shot kicking and it cost us in the finals in 22 and 23. You can't live in glass houses. Being fit and getting your body in great shape is just PART of being an elite footballer. Working on shortcomings is the other half - something he has neglected to do. Also, lets not forget his basketball injury in pre-season. Hardly professional.
  23. Hope he hasn't passed the sniffles on to the players.
  24. What did he do with the kick? Was it advantageous to the side ? Did it show an awareness of the time left?
