2026 Injury List
Gawn will be playing Rd 1, barring any other injury. Miochek is on a load rehab and is running. If his toe was an issue there’d by no ‘loading’ on it. Viney is 50/50 to play Rd 1 based on his history with overcoming injury. Whilst there are some injuries to a few players, I’m glad it’s not guys Like Windsor, Langford, Xavier Taylor, Turner, Picketts. They are the players that will determine how we go in 2026. Aside from Bowey, none of the others were in our best 23, aside from those outlined above and AMW, who replaces Bowey

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 14th January 2026
Any info re: Miochek. Have we drafted an injury prone lemon? People suggested on the Monday thread that he had been doing heaps of training pre Xmas. However, I was at sessions before the break and he was restricted then to cross training. What is the issue?

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 14th January 2026
CJ running laps with Melky. I asked on Monday if he was back to full training. Got a smart [censored] reply. Seems to still be being managed. Anyone actually have a clear answer on his fitness

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 12th January 2026
So you are of the understanding that this is management, he hasn’t reinsured himself. I went to pre Christmas training and he was on the bikes and rower. Did CJ particulate at all today? Didn’t see him mentioned in the OP

Has there been any word on Miochek and whether he is likely to start the season? seems to have done bugger all this preseason. It’s concerning.

Ground Entry Song / Grand Old Flag
Always thought the Rolling Stones’ ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ would make a good entrance song. The opening lyrics applicable to MFC too: Please allow me to introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste I've been around for a long, long year Stole many a man's soul and faith

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 17th December 2025
Thanks Ghosty. It was a gruelling session, makes sense that some of the older heads were on light duties. I also overheard Richo say that CJ should be back to full training after Christmas. He was looking fit whilst running laps. Any word or insight you have on where he is at?

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 17th December 2025
I watched the whole session today and am surprised no one was talking about the form of JVR. If they have, I must have missed it. He looks lean but strong. Was moving really well. However, what stood out was his leading and ability to take grabs with both hands, one touch. This is the area of his game which needed the most improvement. I think we will see him thrive under King. Has anyone been able to confirm why Miochek was on the bikes and doing circuit training today? I heard the officials say that CJ is close to be back in full training after the Christmas break. As noted by others, he ran laps all morning. Simenna (spelling ?) looked like he absolutely belonged. I’d be signing him up. The biggest cheers from the playing group came for Koz who kicked a long range goal, after the kick he delivered, getting the hands and bombing one from a step inside fifty. The players celebrated that one. The other big one was for Jye Culley, who snapped a roving goal inside fifty. “F…k yeah boy” was shouted by one player. Plenty of claps and whistles. Finally, Caleb Windsor 🍆

Only that they are looking for an experienced coach.

Annual General Meeting
Kingy confirmed that Kozzy’s application on the track and dedication was unbelievable. It sounds like, despite his quiet demeanour, he is becoming a leader and will elevate even further in 2026. Kingy made a joke about him wanting to play exclusive midfield because that’s what he (KP) wants. King also referenced Culley, saying that he can’t believe he was delisted. Said he is training to an extremely high standard. It sounds like he has emerged as a leader this summer also.

Annual General Meeting
I was there and whilst the question could not be answered, there was a Freudian slip from COO, who said “when we are at Caulfield” when talking about the Future Fund needing to be accessed. The financials are in order. The loss is a result of payouts to Goody and Oliver, which are included in this years figures according to accounting rules. Kingy was terrific. Gave supporters plenty of time and was open and honest. He is a wholesome country boy at heart, but I believe he has a great knowledge of the game and will connect people. For those teeing off on those who asked questions, it’s a very awkward setting to ask meaningful questions. If you are so concerned, get off your bum and come ask for yourself. Also, the lady who referenced the Mercedes is a former MCC committee member and passionate supporter of the club. The Mercedes is an old 1980s Merc that she has painted with Dees logos as a bit of fun.

🎄 XMAS MEET & GREET 2025 🎄
Was there today and in good spirits. If he is injured, I don’t think it’s anything serious. Jack Viney did say to me that his body wasn’t feeling great and he hoped to be back to full training after the Christmas break. He was pretty honest when I asked him how he was tracking.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
The bloke is seriously bitter and dislikes the club, which speaks more to his immaturaity than anything else. His actions were covered up the Club for an extended period and he was offered heaps of support. He threw much of that back in the face of the Club. I won't go into details, because I don't want to put the owners of this site at risk, but I can tell you that his behaviour in his last weeks in Melbourne (te city) were true to recent form, and made those like me, who had defended the vicious rumours others spread online, look very silly! He is a simple kid who hasn't dealt with personal issues well. You can blame it on his diagnosis if you want, but from what I know, which is plenty, the Club is far better off without him. Not saying that he won't be a great player for GWS, but it's a ticking time bomb. Leopards like Oliver rarely change their spots.

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
This one is totally bizarre. We took Pickett at 12, filled the small forward need. Philapou there at 30 and we went with a 171cm bloke who was injured all season

Welcome to Demonland: MA Services Group
Nice! I think the MFC monogram has been droppefd off the front of the jumper as well? Anyone confirm? Wasn't seen on the jumpers of the new recruits.

Welcome to Demonland: MA Services Group
It appears that we have a new jumper sponsor for 2026. Post on MFC socials. More elite content from the socials department. Not sure if I like the colour at the back or not. May be a little ‘clashy’ with the Hertz logo. In any event, new era, new jumper! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DRL-ZLjkb8P/?igsh=Zmd0bHB0bHJqemcy

2026 Walk Out Song
Can we also get the Irish jig brought back between goals? Really gained traction in the one and only game in which we played it this year. It is organic and much better than piped in pop music.

AFLW: QF vs Brisbane
Maybe miles off was hyperbole. We have a number of individuals who are though. Whether that’s age or not, I think it rings true. Brisbane were able to pinpoint kicks on the 45 to open the ground up. They were super slick by hand. In contrast, we rely heavily on a few who have good skill, but are ultimately let down by an inability to transition the ball by foot, and our final kick inside 50 was too often to the disadvantage of our forwards. Yes, not having Zanker up there contributed to this. Structurally though, we sucked too far up the ground and when we’d win it back we had no numbers inside 50. High aerial balls to contests when we did. The misses from good spots on the ground are also skill errors.

Ain’t Too Proud To Beg
Was well aware Ghosty…you were concerned with the lack of interest in the Women’s side. I was merely highlighting that it’s hard to be interested in something that is, until today, played 46km from the CBD. You can’t suddenly expect people to turn up because it’s at Ikon this week, when they have little attachment to the competition. I looked at the fixture when it was released and penciled in three games I could make with a family. The Collingwood match at Vic Park. The home Ikon game. And one Casey afternoon fixture (where you served me a snag).

AFLW: QF vs Brisbane
Went to ikon today. Disappointed with the result. Very clear that we are miles off the pace of the competition in terms of skill. Sounds familiar. Our inability to kick goals from relatively easy spots on the ground was frustrating. In contrast, Brisbane couldn’t miss. The second half, in particular, the Lions midfield completely dominated us. Their ability to break from centre square and link handballs was the difference. We just look scrappy all over the park. You get two or three chains and then it falls apart. Bannon has been a real let down this year. I don’t know what is wrong, but her ability to burn off opponents and get them on rebound seems non-existent. Final thought…umpiring in the 2nd Q turned the momentum. So many contradictory decisions. Most of the bad decisions made by the blonde female umpire who was on the wrong side of the play and guessed most of the time. The free dire you in front of goal for a push in the back probably the worst of the lot.

Ain’t Too Proud To Beg
Ghosty, the longer our club plays AFLW games at Casey, the less interest there will be. I'm sorry, I've been a big supporter in the past, but it is a massive effort to travel that far, to stand in the wind and often the elements, to watch us play. I see it as the single reason why we don't attract support. It is not friendly for our membership base. I hope we can get a few to Ikon this week, but don't hold much hope. The AFLW has literally fallen off the map. The standard has actually declined. Sure, our girls are good...but the league itself is really struggling.

AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
Sharp is noted as a contested beast...whose "athletic tools are lacking". While he sounds like a good citizen and a great extractor, given the way King wants the game played, isn't this just another Clayton Oliver 2.0. If we are looking to get speed in the midfield, how does this help? Pickett wont develop the tank to play 80-90% midfield time. Rivers is reasonably quick. I would have expected us to be targeting an outside player. Maybe I have misunderstood.
