  1. Only if the AFL apptrove, which they did for Clarkson. You'd hope there would be a degree of conistency, but it's the AFL. I'd hope the Board asked this question before making its decision.
  2. Just listened to him talking with Whately. Agree with your synopsis...however, to me it was, "yeah, I'm hungry and keen, I need to get my head back in that space, as this is the first real opportunity I've had to think about it, but I like the list and think the culture and fortunes can turn quickly". I reckon he may emerge as a front-runner. FWIW, I think he would be better the second time around. I think he would be better coaching outside of the Collingwood bubble he was a part of for so long. I think he would build immediate connections with players and demand instant respect from them. He has been my preference for a while, based on the way he analyses our games. He may have been watching closely for other reasons, who knows?
  3. Will move into mark Williams’ role
  4. We need to abandon Casey from this pre-season. Just use what we have at Gosch's/AAMI.
  5. Thank you Goody. You took us to the promised land. Unfairly hounded by media. However, it was time for change.
  6. Wonder if this is effective immediately, or if he coaches out the season. Who will coach the side this week? Thanks for the Premiership Simon. Will always appreciate it. It's time for the new era at the Dees! With the young talent we have, I hope we can rejuvinate quickly!
  7. Fluff piece from Jay Clark, who I cannot believe is the Chief of Football at the HS. Tells you a lot about the decline in the standard of journalism in this country. There is nothing in the article that says anything about how Hawthorn, or any other club, would actually facilitate a trade. Throwing up the glut of forwards at the Hawks is not really a well-thought-out viable trade solution or scenario. This article belongs in the Media Madness thread. The media seem hellbent on inventing narratives and willing a trade of Melbourne superstars. I'm a realist, and understand that we need to give something to get something and improve, but throwing up the Hawks and not mentioning any picks to facilitate a trade is pure lazy opinion, agenda driven nonsense!
  8. We need to pick Campbell and play a second ruck, allowing Gawn to play more behind the ball, to give the backs help with their talls.
  9. Also, he pulled his kicks on 45 degree angles, late, which is an art form that only few of our players master..’Melksham and Chin being a couple notable others. It’s clever and hard to defend. Lift the veil of negativity
  10. No, it’s kicking to players leading to 20m out, showing composure, and not bomb kicking it to the goal line where it’s easily defended and a point is conceded. Football 101. Something that a couple of higher paid mids have been doing for three years.
  11. You are joking right? Go watch his two entry kicks inside 50 to the proper ‘hotspot’ that resulted in goals. A welcome point of difference from the bomb kick
  12. gross mismanagement right at the period when we experienced an ounce of success.
  13. I'd be flabbergasted if any player of any note asked to come to melbourne. We are so far off it as an organisation, we have very little pull at all. The best we can hope for is some more fringe players like Derksen, who will end up at Casey like all our other recruits.
  14. He acted unprofressionally and irrationally and poo poo'd on his own club, which detered Houston and spun us into a media circus. He WAS/IS part of the problem. He has failed to improve his set shot kicking and it cost us in the finals in 22 and 23. You can't live in glass houses. Being fit and getting your body in great shape is just PART of being an elite footballer. Working on shortcomings is the other half - something he has neglected to do. Also, lets not forget his basketball injury in pre-season. Hardly professional.
  15. Hope he hasn't passed the sniffles on to the players.
  16. What did he do with the kick? Was it advantageous to the side ? Did it show an awareness of the time left?
  17. I love your sentiments, but the MFC Board have ignored the supporters and members for years, why would they agree to listen now?
  18. Go and read Gawn's comments on Triple M from this morning. Has complete blind faith in Goodwin. Says he is the best coach. Says he is tactically smart 🤥. Max, you seem brainwashed. You might be mates and enjoy a beer together, but if you belive that, then it is no wonder we are where we are. Nonsense. 46 pts up man! Dumbest quarter of football you will see. All 32 minutes of it.
  19. Yep, and that [censored] has been happening all my life. Always the next embarrassing loss. A laughing stock for most of my life.
  20. I've been at all the bad losses from 1987 til now. Sat through much frustration and embarassment. None of them, not even 186, comes close to the humiliation I felt yesterday. It was a sick joke. This club is in absolute all sorts. From admin, to players to the big fat elephant in the room, the coach! The rumblings have been going on for too many years. Goodwin should have been sacked a year ago. He survived and we have fallen further into a hole. Membership is down 20% on last year. There will be under 10k fans next week. I don't blame anyone for not turning up next week. There is a limit to how many times a team can rip ya heart out and make you feel embarrassed. I never miss a game, but I said after this "I'm done for the year'. Proud to Belong was Goodwin's catchcry .... right now, no one is proud to belong to the MFC. Not one fan woke up this morning able to defend the Club. If Brad Green has an ounce of respect for the fans and the long term survival of this club, he sacks Goodwin this morning.
  21. I don't think playing up the MFC member stereotype and calling your own supporters '[censored]' is a particularly smart move. It's kind of biting the hand that feeds. A lot of posters getting stuck into Bluey, but I see where he is coming from. It feels insulting from your Captain. He did something similar on an MFC social media post recently when he referred to those that sit on Level 2 of the MCC as being 'suits' who drink wine and cheese. I understand it's part of him trying to be funny, but it does feel off to me. It shows the disconnection between players and members that seems to exist strongly at the MFC. Just my 2 cents.
  22. Petty wasn't even in the best for Casey last week in a 100 point win. Meanwhile, Kentfield and AJ dominate, and in the case of Kentfield have done so for weeks, and cannot get a look in when our season is completely dead. The selection comittee baffles me and has done for the best part of three years. We always stick to the status quo. Change it up!
  23. If we are all being honest, we all loved the flag, but for the majority, being inside our homes in locvdown was not how any of us envisioned the end of the drought. We all expected to fill the G and be singing the song long into the night in the bars at the ground and spilling out into Yarra Park in ecstasy...we still all loved the win...we all saw it...we didn't feel it like we thought we would ...because it wasn't how we imagined it. The thirst for another was far greater because of that. Happy to have seen one. Hungry for more.
  24. A good lawyer would rip Gleeson apart if allowed to use precedent and comments used in the ratio decidendi of the two contrasting decisions - May vs Maynard. Brayshaw was kicking the ball and it was reasonably foreseeable that in leaving the ground in a smothering motion, contact was inevitable. Maynard had plenty of time to either keep his feet or change direction, which a 'reasonable player' would have done. He changed his body position in the air and made contact more forceful. Gleeson did not conclude thatr he had breached his duty of care In contrast, May had no time. The ball was loose. He had a clear line to the ball. Did not brace for contact. Did not bump. Was not careless by definition. Maynard, on the other hand, was completely careless, both in his approach and the way he dropped the position of his shoulder. The AFL, after all, had come out to clarify that if a player leaves the ground and elects to bump, they in fact have the onus to uphold the duty of care...until it came to Maynard. The AFL is corrupt and so is its Tribunal. I would love to see a group of Legal Eagles shred Gleeson KC beyond the Appeals Tribunal. It's fundamental Administrative Law. A conflict of interests and a clear bias using different and ever shifting legal reasoning. I supportt Gus' brother's sentiments.
