WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAKE BOWEY
dee-tox replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Let's face it Bobby. Few, if any Demonlanders, have spent the time watching TAC Cup or underage footy around the country to make a proper assessment on our draftees or other clubs draftees for that matter. It's literally a full time job and we can be thankful that we now have a recruiting team that work exceptionally hard to identify the talent we need and as we stand now have had many more hits than misses. To dismiss someone because they are seven centimetres short of their preferred height or because his father didn't have Robbie Flower's career is typical Demonland. Fortunately, Jason Taylor and team don't look at things the same way. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAKE BOWEY

Love the speed that he is able to dish off a handball. Great skill to have. The interesting thing will be if he stays in this team for finals. Will opposition coaches try and isolate him one-on-one? -
Sure Vanders gave away a couple of bad free kicks last night. But I still think he has something to offer. Coming on as a sub in only your second game of the year is a difficult thing to do. I liked his first game of the year where he was involved in a number of scoring chains and his disposal was good. We gave Harmes five or six weeks to come good. Vanders at least deserves a couple of opportunities...

Salo definitely looks hurt. No way he is moving with the freedom he had earlier in the year. Speculation only but I reckon it's the groins.

I don't agree with this. Not sure why you single out Fritta week after week and regularly call on him to be dropped. Thought the whole forward line's chasing and tackling was great tonight. Back to the standards we saw in the first month of the season. Fritta was an integral part of this. Opposition teams put a lot of work into Fritta these days. As leading goalkicker that's par for the course. Take McDonald out and it's tough for a skinny bloke to play as an undersized key position player.

I think we had the first three scoring opportunities after that break. Kick three goals and it's a nine goal margin and the Weagles would have turned their toes up. Don't wanna sound like Dr D. but set shot kicking is going to cost us big time one day.

James Harmes take a bow. How you can pull that game out after the past five I'll never know. But fantastic that you did!

Good assessment. Very kind to Brayshaw though!
-
Absolutely. First option, quick hands, great vision and speed in the first 10 metres..

6. Oliver 5. Brown 4. Trac 3. ANB 2. Harmes 1. Jacko

Been some really pleasing efforts from Harmes BBB, Jackson and ANB. Max has run Nic Nat off his feet. The forward pressure back to early round levels. Liked Jordon's and Bowey"s game.
-
Hate the umpiring. Hate the efforts of Brayshaw. Liking BBB. Harmes has been better.
-
As much as we like to portray GWS as a souless franchise, they really do have some ticker. Their midfield mix is excellent too. Would love to have Isaac Cumming and/or Whitfield at the Dees. 1,700 metres gained between them tonight.
-
Harmes has lost all confidence and belief. He should do a Jack Watts and drop himself. The harder he tries the worse he gets.

6. Oliver 5. Trac 4. Jackson 3. Lever 2. Gawn 1. Anb

Bizarre that Harmes survives. The two changes make sense. Good luck young Bowey. Nice story overcoming dwarfism and having red hair!
-
Think it is fair enough for Gawn and Goodwin to tell a different story externally (general public) than internally. No use throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Maintain the perception that everything OK. Internally, I think they would be asking some very difficult questions to some of the senior guys (Hibberd, TMac, Brayshaw, Langdon, ANB, etc).
-
I'd like to see the GPS figures. Think we have dropped off markedly here. Earlier in year we seemingly outnumbered the opposition everywhere but forward. Against the Bulldogs it appeared that if Oliver or Petracca didn't win the pill in the midfield we were stuffed!
-
Few posters saying no change or minimum changes. Poor performing players need to be accountable and kept hungry otherwise those on the periphery lose faith. If I was vanderBerg I'd be pretty peeved at being dropped for Harmes. Had seven score involvements and did some good things last week. Harmes has had four stinkers and is a complete liability at the moment. This team also needs a freshen up. Even it is only for a couple of weeks. Bowey/Lockhart for Hibberd. Chandler for Spargo. Melksham for Jackson. Vanders for Brayshaw Sparrow for Harmes.
-
Not sure we can go another game where non-performance is rewarded? Harmes, Brayshaw and Hibberd were pathetic. Spargo and Jackson have been down for a month. Langdon, Salem and Mcdonald have regressed big time. Nearly 40 percent of the team have hit the wall. We've won one game in a month. We're done.

6. Oliver 5. Hunt 4. Viney 3. Gawn 2. Lever 1. Petracca

Out: Harmes, Spargo, Jackson, Hibberd, Brayshaw. All were pathetic. How Harmes got back in the team is astounding. His past four games have been the worst I've seen in Melbourne colours. In: Sparrow, Bowey, Melksham and Jones.
-
Harmes and Hibberd are hopeless.

Maybe we could lobby the Coodabeens to change the lyrics of Dermott Brereton is a Hood to Bayley Fritsch is a hood?

Was dropped last week...
