What role did Alan Richardson play?
Hinkley seems like he needs a break from coaching, so probably won’t coach for another few years, he is as smart as anyone, so would be a good replacement for Richardson. Him supporting the incoming coach could be something to consider. Just reading between the lines from what we saw at the presser, I get the feeling Richardson threw Goodwin under the bus when they were reporting back to the board. He can’t stay on, surely…

Thank You Simon Goodwin by Demonland
Asides from 2021, 2018 is my favorite season over the last 2 decades and it’s all thanks to Goodwin. Goodwin changed the game numerous times and the way he transformed us into a feared club after decades purgatory. He was the mad scientist tactically trying things like the 3 off the back of the square strategy and I thought he bought the best out of O-Mac and Frost as a pairing when Lever went down with the ACL. Instead of playing them as pure lockdowns, he played them as fairly attacking defenders. While there were frustrations with the high line defense, I thought the 1%ers and rebound we got from the defense overall contributed to being the highest scoring side in 2018. We obviously weren’t great defensively, but considering the names on paper, Goodwin did really well. Took a while to adjust to 6-6-6, but throughout 21-23 we were unbeatable and really, only beat ourselves in the finals. Goodwin literally revolutionized “contest” and the appetite to hunt. It wasn’t pretty, but the results spoke for themselves. People will eventually remember what Goodwin did throughout his reign at the club and will rightfully remember him as a legend of the club.

PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
Imagine if we knockoff the Dogs to end their season and then beating the Pies on the Friday night to end their top 4 hopes. 🙏

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
How did that f*ckwit Josh Jenkins get a job in the media? [censored] player, one of the best cherry pickers the game has ever seen and somehow still holds a job. Not to mention he is a slurrer who can’t string together a sentence. Paraphrasing, but he essentially saying there is no world where he sees a spike with a new coaching set up simply because we have no “big name” forwards.. For what Goodwin had to work with in 2018, to be the highest scoring side with T-Mac and Fritsch essentially being our 2 main targets- hardly “gorillas” is a massive hats off to him. Who’s to say JVR, 5th year, rejuvenated Fritsch, Melksham still playing good footy alongside Chandler in a more pressurized half forward role cannot be just as dangerous as the 2018 forward set up? Jefferson had looked good in parts and can seriously clunk the ball.. Whoever comes in, I would expect Petracca and Pickett in full time midfield roles, who can obviously roll forward and cause a lot of havoc. Honestly, not saying we win the flag, but I can easily see us, with a tactically astute coach return to the top 6. Pies did it after coming 17th and they are notorious for having lackluster forward lines on paper. Mihoeck carried them. F*cking Mihocek. 🤣😂

We should give Jordan Lewis a 5 year coaching contract because Chris from Camberwell says so. 🤣🤡

Simon Goodwin respect thread.
So happy hearing Luke Hodge emphatically playing down the notion that 2020 and 2021 should have an asterisk. Richmond and Melbourne by a country mile the best sides. Let’s not forget the free ride for Brisbane choking in 2020 with home matches and home finals.. Even playing field, full season in ‘21 especially and Goodwin engineered a game style that for 3 years was near unbreakable. Asides from the Sydney Qualifying Final in ‘22, I’d argue that we beat ourselves in the other 3 losses, not necessarily being outplayed by Collingwood, Carlton and Brisbane. Should have made at least another GF, but the failure of not doing so is on the entire club. To keep the players motivated and focused in ‘21 was something Goodwin should always be proud of.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
As tough as it is, the decision had to be made. Sad to see him go after so much blood, sweat and tears. But the facts are, Goodwin had a grade A list and since the flag he said every year we will compete, suffered back to back straight sets exits, and as we speak, staring down back to back bottom 6 finishes, with not as much injuries opposed to other clubs. Fans and club should feel aggrieved. No other professional sport, club or code would tolerate back to back underperformances, let alone the 4 years Goodwin got since the flag.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
When Postecoglu was sacked, in world football, you hardly get the entire playing squad/roster eulogize for the coach. Not even Mourinho got mass praise from his players on social media. Ange’s managerial time with Tottenham on the other hand was eulogized by 98% of the entire squad. They clearly loved him, but 2 months later, back at work playing under a new manager. Of course players close to Goodwin should feel disappointed, it’s human nature. But these are high paid professionals, they will be fine.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
See… The thing with the “proven coaches” like Longmire and Simpson is, will they be prejudiced in their approach because it “worked”‘for a long time or are they, unlike Goodwin willing to actually change with the times. Thats what I’m afraid of. By bringing in a highly rated rookie like Jaymie Graham, they don’t haven any past experience or prejudice that can influence decision making. They are coming in fresh with new ideas. Yeah, there will always be horrific exceptions like Mark Neeld or a Watters, but what we saw with how McRae changed the game with front attacking foot footy and Kingsley with his ability to build rapport and develop younger players. Think the rejuvenation of Hogan and how much of a star Callaghan has become. I can see Rivers becoming just as good as a full time on baller under and Lever getting back to his best under a Jaymie Graham.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
Honestly, I just felt a massive weight of my shoulders as a fan, but also for Goodwin as well. Similar situation to Postecoglu at Tottenham. If Postecoglu had stayed on after the drought breaking trophy but delivered yet another horrific season, his legacy would have been tarnished, but instead, he is now revered amongst the fans as a legend. Goodwin is in the same mould. A club legend that no one can dispute and will always be known as the drought breaker. It was time for both parties and interesting the time of sacking.. wonder if we have had a coach lined up in mind..

Media Madness
Kinda MFC related, but kinda not, but the media once again looking to paint Stewart as mother Theresa trying to get him off (David King asides). That brain rot Dermott is the biggest advocate. 2:44 mark…. Notice how Andy Brayshaw, instead of completely crashing into the opponent put out both hands towards the chest of the Carlton player to mitigate and prevent any damage. He was going to go airborne, knew there was no chance of a smother and held back. If it was that SOB Maynard or Stewart, you think they would pull out? Stewart and Maynard weren’t smothering. Throughout 150 years of Aussie Rules, I have never seen anyone attempting a smother by launching themselves like a human missile. If Stewart gets off, we’re cooked if we aren’t already..

NON-MFC: Round 21
I’m praying like all hell NWM leaves that rabble. Would be hilarious to watch them crumble. Says alot about a club when they over celebrated a meaningless win against a fellow cellar dweller.

PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
Sam Darcy going to kick 10. He could legitimately be inside the top 3 of the Coleman by end of next round. He is currently 8th.

Time to go Goody?
Never understood the Marvel/Docklands hate. Pretty cosy stadium and when packed, the atmosphere is just as good as any stadium in the country. The last non Melbourne match I attended was in 2011 when Collingwood came back from 40 to beat Adelaide, and it is honestly one of the better atmospheres I have ever experienced as far as following this sport is concerned. As for Docklands itself, when I lived at Docklands Drive before Covid, I had nothing but a good time. Costco, cycling friendly, short tram ride into the city, vibes were pretty good on Friday Nights when there was a game there and ain’t too busy, so easy to get around. Like most things on social media these days, fake outrage seems to be the norm and everything needs to be torn apart with massive negativity taking over.

Caroline Wilson’s article 2 August 2025
Hopefully this article puts to bed any [censored] assumptions that I often see that Geelong are only good because of their home ground advantage. If it was that easy, how come they went 11 years between Chris Scott flags? They are a destination club because they are a well run club. “Lifestyle” is merely a bonus. Many don’t like to admit it, but I envy Geelong a lot. Should look to bring in more of their people into the club. Tom Hawkins is one person I would look to as a part time goal kicking coach. His expert analysis on Fox is first class, particularly when it comes to the nuances in forward craft. Steve Johnson is another who had done a lot of good with the Sydney coaching ranks. Bartel is the other we shouldn’t give up on. Director of footy would be ideal.

Mark Neeld era was/is better than them.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Yeah, about time. Gulden was never touted as an on baller, but rather an elite running wingman. Was developed into one of the best contested players in the comp. If Windsor can become half as good, then we will be very happy.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Inbred Bigfooty (Collingwood) trying to insinuate clapping Melksham for ending McGovern is hypocritical because it is the same as that scum concussing Brayshaw. 🤡

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
I can hear it now, Goodwin after an inaccurate 7 goal win: "It's credit to the players and their mindset shift and what they value, we have learned an incredible amount about ourselves over the past week" “We’re working our way back into some incredibly strong form and we look forward to showing our supporters what we truly value and how much we have learned” 🤡🤡

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
It’s criminal how we were knocked out of finals contention at the half way point of the season with the second easiest draw. With St Kilda, North and West Coast twice on top of beating Brisbane and Sydney, arguably should have beaten Collingwood, we should be going into the game this week with our finals hopes still alive, but instead, we face a “must win match” against the 1 win wooden spooner to save Goodwin’s job.. The mere fact that this is labeled as a “must win” says all there is to know..

Time to go Goody?
Just want to bring to light the arrogance of Simon Goodwin that has been ingrained in my mind which even bothered me at the time. Round 2, 2022 vs Gold Coast. Goalless last quarter which was met with an arrogant smirk by Goodwin in the presser with the exact lines of “We didn’t need to score, we just needed to defend well” Being only 22 up, it was a disgraceful quote at the time and even more disgraceful over 3 years later knowing what we have become. If it was anyone apart from Gold Coast or North Melbourne, we lose that game.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
3 days later and St Kilda fans still celebrating like they won the flag. 🤣😂 I had to delete WhatsApp and probably will have it deleted until the end of the year. Fair play to them, but they didn’t beat much. Signs of a [censored] and desperate club is when you celebrate beating a fellow bottom 6. How about NWM dancing with Ross Lyon… 🤡 60+ years… And counting…

Brad Greens letter to members
That moron who posted that Goodwin death threat deflected away from that awful performance on Sunday and put it on themselves instead. Like many have pondered, I wonder if we would have gotten a letter if it weren’t for that idiotic keyboard warrior…

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
This is the same club that lost to Essendon in 2016. The same club who lost to wooden spoon Carlton twice in 2006, hence destroying top 4 hopes and the same club who conceded 46 to St Kilda in a quarter, a side on a 6 match losing streak. Also, 186 that only we are capable of. No club is ever [censored] enough that we are ever certainties. Injuries or no injuries, it’s insane that we are paying $1.08 against a side desperate to win another game. We wilt under pressure far too regularly, even when we were contending in 2022-23.. We were kicking fine when we were on top, but as soon as Saints started to up their pressure, we started to wilt in front of goal.

Time to go Goody?
The reason why I wouldn’t want Longmire, Buckley or even Simpson is because I am not overly confident in thier ability to reinvent and would just stick to what they know which can be dangerous in an ever evolving era of footy. They were great coaches in their own rights, but I feel like high calibre assistants like Jaymie Graham or a Caracalla would come into the club with no prior coaching experience or prejudice and get a free shot at it like what we saw with Kingsley and McRae. It would also appease the fans in the sense of having a direct path and vision going forward. Currently under Goodwin, we have no clear identity, so what is there to lose? A fresh restart with a rookie like Graham who is part of the Fremantle resurgence and West Coast premiership forward coach may be the way to go. Wouldn’t be against looking at someone like Cameron Bruce who was handpicked by Fagan to be the man to revitalize their midfield when he was let go by Carlton.
