Tbh, don’t really think we need any more forwards, much rather strengthen up the defense and the midfield as Viney is coming to an end. If anything, as a weekly listener of the Buddy and Crawf podcast, the spark and genuine interest in the Dees from Franklin is still there. In the latest episode, he said he was stoked for the club and joked how he should have worn Melbourne attire on the podcast. Perhaps in a part time role, but his knowledge and breakdown of the varying parts of the game is first class. Wouldn’t hurt to give him a call to work with the young forwards. The young forwards just need more time in learning the craft, so I would back in what we currently have and just hope the next crop like Kentfield and Jefferson, who has shown glimpses can come good under the King regime and eventually form a partnership with JVR.

North fans often refer to us as “GoDees” and Richmond fans refer to us as Shemons but I gotta admit, Essendon fans are pretty grounded. I must say, I got it very wrong. Collingwood, so called “100k member powerhouses” got just over 40k against GWS on a Friday Night in a 50k seat stadium and the Dogs got 28k against the same opposition at home. Really hope our fans turn up and push 35k+ and put the fake narrative that we don’t attract crowds to bed. Would also stick it up Judas in the process while he plays in front of 8k crowds. I’m optimistic it could happen, because against St Kilda, the crowd was 40k but I could have sworn only 6-8k Saints fans turned up.

Regardless of who comes in I reckon we are a sniff here. That second half was absolutely crazy in terms of the pressure. Pressure is how you beat silky players like Anderson, Powell, Bodhi Uwland and the like. Granted Gold Coast are no Carlton, but that was an even team performance from a defensive point of view. Sharp, Fritsch and Windsor, players who aren’t exactly renowned for physicality had 15 tackles between them and if we can correct the first quarters and bring the heat and pressure against Gold Coast who will be off the bye without Judas and Humphrey, they may be gettable. Will be hard to maintain over 4 quarters, but if we get blown out again, there will be no coming back.
