id trade Robbo (29yrs old in Nov) for Ray + 3rd round pick. this is a win-win for both teams. Robbo would fit very well into bullies structure and they are desperate need of a genuine forward who can kick 40 goals a year. demons on the other hand have an aging list. even with our recent retirings/delistings we still have 5 players 30+, robbo and Whelan 29, Bruce, carrol , wheatley,TJ and Green 27 going on 28... we arent going to win a premiership in the next 2 seasons, so its time to start thinking about what our team will look like in 3 years. Farren Ray is on the outer at the bullies after an average season and would be offered for trade for the right deal. Farren Ray: 187cm, 87kg, 21 years, 62 games under his belt (including 20 this season). He was pick 4 in 2003 draft (after Sylvia and before Mclean). He is an obvious talent and has played matches in which he has won 28 possies and 3 goals. this seasons form has been relatively poor however. He has a beep test result around 15.3 which is outstanding. I would this him a great addition to our midfield. he has good pace, is strong in the air, neat skills and has a decent goal sense. Also, he can be an outside player but also can get his own ball if required. Farren Ray would be an astute get by our match committee if we got him. his average season this year means we could demand a 3rd round pick to go along with him.

6 delistings... we can expect 1 or 2 more after the trade period... if we pick up a ruckman during trade time then Jamar will be delisted. If Miller and C.Johnson cant find new homes during trade period they could also be under pressure to be gone. Seeing as Warnock is under contract and assuming Holland is kept as depth, we now have Warnock, Holland and Ferguson all kept on as key position depth...i assume ferguson will therefore be delisted as well in the next 2 months

it sounds rediculous to imagine that the prospective coaches were asked "would u trade johnstone" in their interviews... surely all their answer would be the same... if we got a great deal that would improve our list or get us a great draft pick, then anyone is on the table (except neitz obv)...otherwize we'll keep him. dont trade johnstone unless its a top 12 pick. anything lower and we will be losing out. id prefer johnstone over pick 18 in this draft. there are about 10-12 outstanding players in this draft, after that its abit of hit n miss.

does anyone think it would be worth picking Valenti up as a low draft pick or rookie pick? i have seen him play abotu 5 or 6 times... he is regularly named in the top 2 or 3 players for sandy and we were minor premiers...he is nuggety, a ball magnet with quite good disposal. however he is pretty slow and not that agile and doesnt have any one outstanding quality that you ussually need to make the step up to afl level (like great speed or skill or agility or making prowess). on the other hand, this description is very similar to Sam Mitchell who despite not having any particular physical characteristics that jump out at you, he is just a bloody good footballer. could Valenti do a Mitchell or is he just a good vfl player? He is only 20

i would be sooo happy if this is true... its not because i dont like Ward and Godfrey. i think both are more than servicable and are decent fringe players...i think considering their limited abilities the fact that both have played over 100 games is a credit to their character and determination...(i would have probably kept them on as depth next season)... however, let's be ruthless. both these players were very limited in ability. Ward and Godfrey are both dreadful disposal and they turn the ball over more times than they hit target. i have said for year, that MFC's main weakness is that we have about 15 players on our list that arent afl standard! We will never win a premiership with the likes of Brown, Ward, Godfrey and Ferguson in the team. none of these players are young and none are going to improve. so why put games into them when we have the likes of Dunn, Buckley and Frawley who will only improve more and more the more games they play! be ruthless Bailey because we are starting a new era at MFC. new attitude, new coach, out with the old mediocre players. mediocrity is no longer acceptable. Brown and Ward are both mediocre. they are decent depth (i love em both), but i see it as a positive sign that we no longer accept mediocrity

in the short term the saints forwards would dominate, but if we pick up Rance our defense will be one of the stronger in the afl in 3 years time. defense of the future... Key defenders: Rance, Frawley, Rivers, Carrol running backs: Bell, Pettard, Bartram, Wheatley (maybe Bode)... everyone knows our defense is weak at the moment. we have to make changes if we are going to develop a great defense in 3 years time when we realistically can have a shot at the premiership. people who advocate trading for another top 10 pick should be careful that we arent getting ripped off. for example trading green (our next captain imo) and Bruce (imo at his best is our best player by far) for pick 7 is rediculous. u dont trade 2 of ur best players for 1 top 10 pick. however if we traded one of them, for one top 10 pick, id consider it seriously. trading for high draft picks often works in the favour of the team who gets the pick. consider Woewoden for Bell...Woewoden is long gone and Bell in up n coming.
-
i agree Rance looks awesome and is what we need, but i think he is more worth pick 8 or 9 rather than pick 4... for this reason i would 100% go for Palmer. many believe he will be picked up by carlton at pick 3, or even pick 2, but if he slips through to 4 we will have gotten an absulte future star. i would even prefer palmer over ebert i reckon. Henderson is also i chance, but like Rance, i think we would look at him more seriously if we had pick 7 or 8. at pick 4 u cant go past the best available, which will most likely be one of Morton or Palmer
-
delist/ retired: Brown Bizzel Pickett Neville Ward Ferguson (note that it was either him or Warnock as depth k.p.p and warnock is contracted for 2008) Hughes* rookie- is unlucky but has to have shown more to get upgraded and is out of contract offer up for trade bait, but if nobody offers anything at all (id even take a 3rd or 4th round pick) then delist: Jamar Miller Borderline but probably keep as depth: Holland C. Johnson Offer for trade, but only accept if we can manage to get a top10ish pick: Bruce Johnstone Upgrade to senior list: Neaves Bode pick up 1 player in PSD and about 5 in the draft. during trade period, do not go out massively trying to poach highly rated stars from other clubs. I would look at picking up Meesan (adel), Byrnes (geel), Prissmal (geel), R.Murphy (freo), Wood (bris) or Jaymie Graham (WCE) but only offer pick 21 and a sweetener (like Jamar or Miller or pick 37). we need draft picks this draft so dont just throw away picks for players unless they are going to be starting 18 players in 2008! Pick 4- pick up Rys Palmer If we somehow manage to gain a second top 10 pick through trading bruce of johnstone then pick up Rance (best key position defender in the draft) or McEvoy (the best pure ruckman in the draft)
-
we didnt deserve a PP. we shouldv won easily 8 games this year even considering our injuries. we lost 3-4 games when we were infront with 1 minute to go and the ball in our hands... we lost pick 18 and we have pick 4 now...lets move on and concentrate on what we have, not what we missed. There are alot of people rating Palmer at pick 2 ahead of cotchin. if Palmer slips through to 4 we should pick him up...and there is no reason to think Palmer wont be a better player than cotchin. at the moment nobody knows. Franklin was pick 5 and he is by far the best player to comeout of that draft. just goes to show than number 1 or 2 pick doesnt necessarily mean picking up the best player
-
i also think we should go all out to try and claim a second top 10 pick. whether that means trading trapper then so be it...he is 27 and is still unable to put a fully consistent season together. he will be amazing for another club, because he is an absolute genius with the footbal...but he isnt what we need atm trying to rebuild our list. if we had pick 4 and 8 then we could get 2 rippers. There are about 10 awesome draftees this season so we will be guereteed 2 of them. top 10 most probably: Kruiser Cotchin Morton Palmer Henderson Ebert Rance Masten McEvoy Rioli any 2 of those could set us up in the same way having 3 top 7 picks set up hawthorn a couple of years ago (Roughead,Franklin,Lewis). imagine if we got Palmer (ripper inside/outside quick midfielder), and Rance (extremely highly rated key defender)...2 gaps filled up. all we'd need is a huge CHF and we have all problem areas filled. and if we picked up henderson then that gap could be filled instead.
-
The more i have read about the highly rated draftees the more i think we will go for Palmer. imo palmer could easily go pick 2 or 3, and if he slips to pick 4 we should snap him up. he will 100% be a gun midfielder. plus he has pace which our midfield lacks. a midfield of a fully fit Mclean, Sylvia, Jones, Palmer, Moloney, Bartram, Dunn (with Green, Bruce, Johnstone and Jmac going through as well) we will have a seriously exciting young midfield. people should note that Mclean, Sylvia, Moloney and Bartram all had severely inturupted seasons by injuries (Sylvia lost his preseason so he couldnt play midfield). Dunn developed alot this season so could be a permanent wingman next year. thats seriously improved midfield from last season... if top 3 goes kruiser, cotchin, morton.... then if bailey chooses a midfielder i think he should go for Palmer if he goes for k.p.p then henderson but i think he might go for Rance at pick 4. the best key defender to come out of a draft in years.

i understand what you're getting at, but unfortunately our ruck problems cannot be solved just by getting a ruck coach. White is more than adequate, but people posting in this thread are looking past next season after White retires. What are we going to do then. Jamar: he is absolutely crap. His main attribute is his tapping ability, and even this he regularly gets flogged by mediocre opposition backup ruckman. seeing him get demolished by Chris Bryan was really sad. His around the ground ability is non-existent. u cannot have a number one ruck who cannot get more than 4 possies a game if his life depended on it. pure and simple should be discarded at years end. P.Johnson: he has shown great promise with his around the ground ability, however his rucking ability is very poor atm and is not a natural ruckman. even in 2-3 years time, i see him becoming a good backup ruckman, playing 5min a quater doing relief ruck work, and spending 15 min a quater in teh forward/back line. Neaves: has done well developing this season but has by no means set the world on fire. no reason to suggest at this stage he can answer our number 1 ruck problems for 2009. pure and simple, we need to draft or trade for a number 1 ruck this season so we can be prepared for post-white in 09. i personally would try to trade for Wood, if not go for Meeson and pick up another one in the draft with a late pick. Otherwise go for the best ruck available pick 21. If you dont think we need to recruit a quality ruckman this year, then it is you who are mistaken.
-
lets face it. we need a number 1 ruckman and we need him badly! White has 1 season left. Jamar should be delisted. PJ has shown promising signs but will never be a number 1 ruck (agile around the ground and can go in the ruck 5min a quater type). Ruck is seriously one of our major concerns (along with a Neitz successor) so we must adress it this draft. 2 options: 1) Draft one this year. we could draft McEvoy at pick4 as a future ruck, or a guy like Bellchambers(Tasmaina) at pick 21. I dont think well pick a ruck at pick4, so even if we do pick a ruck at 21, theres no guerentee this guy will turn out a successful future number1 ruckman. its a risk. 2) Trade for one. Unfortunately our trade position would be 1000 times better if we had the PP (pick18) but such is life. In the age today suggests that Jolly, Meesan and Wood are 3 ruckman who could realistically be traded at years end. Meeson: Adelaide have openly said he will be offered for trade. Adelaide have an abudance of talented ruck in Ben Hudson and Rhett Biglands (coming back from knee reco), as well as very promising developing ruckman in /Jonothan Griffen, Kurt Tippet, Ivan Maric (and Seller sorta tho he is more KPP). Meeson has been left behind in some ways, but he was pick 8 2004 draft and is only 21 years old. with 3 seasons now playing as number 1 ruck for Norwood, he has developed his skills well and even played a few games for adelaide this year. He was a top 10 pick for a reason and definitely has talen to become a number 1 ruck. Adelaide dont need him, MFC do. i think pick 21 for him would be a very fair swap. we can assume that MFC will pick up a ruckman with this pick anyways. is the ruckman we pick up with this pick (Bellchambers for example) going to be as good as Meeson. I personally think Meesan is better ruck option, plus he has had 3 years of development (ruckman need a few years before they come on) which means he is ready to take on senior rucking responsibilities. Wood: he is a bloody talented future number 1 ruck. Brisbane will defintely offer him for trade bc they have an awesome ruck devision. Charman, Leunberger (future star) and Beau McDonald (contracted for 2008), Wood is 4th in line. Rising star nominee and at only 20 years old. he is a genuine ruckman with good tapping skills and decent around the ground. just last round hepicked up around 16 possies and looked fantastic. The only problem is that he will command a big price. will have to give more than just pick 21. maybe Miller and 21? maybe Johnstone and pick 21 to Bris. Wood and pick pick 8 to Melb??? Jolly: shoudlnt touch him. as a premiership ruckman will command too high a price. he is still a decent tap ruckman who get 10 possies a game. is not that good and would have to give up alot for him. Thoughts? should we trade for ruckman or hope to pick up a ripper in the draft knowing itll take 3 years before they can be number 1 ruck.

oh and since you seem so sure that phandom drafts didnt rate Mclean a top 5 Matt Burgan is a highly credible maker of phantom drafts. his phantom draft pretty much reflected what most ppl felt pre draft. go to bigfooty search options if you want more, but this is through afl.com.au http://www.afl.com.au/Season2007/News/News...spx?newsId=5519 Burgatron IV: 2003 Phantom Draft 12:00 AM Thu 20 November, 2003 | Back Matt Burgan Exclusive to AFL BigPond Network 13. Essendon – Brock McLean (Calder Cannons) 11 March 1986, 183.4cm, 86kg One of the most interesting selections of this year’s National AFL Draft will be the whereabouts of McLean. The strong inside midfielder has been touted as a candidate for Melbourne at No.5, Essendon at No.6, St Kilda at No.8 and the Kangaroos at No.9, but with several other players in the mix, he could be in a similar position to Fremantle’s Byron Schammer, who slipped down the pecking order to No.13 in last year’s draft. There is no doubting his quality, as evidenced with his best-on-ground display for the Cannons in this year’s TAC Cup grand final victory over the Bushrangers. A fine leader both on and off the field, McLean has the ability to bring teammates into play and this was particularly evident at the National AFL Draft camp, when he was urging on Calder teammate and captain Adam Bentick during the grueling beep test. During the camp, McLean also finished in the top 10 per cent for the 3km time-trial. The nephew of former Carlton and Richmond tough-nut Ricky, he was an AIS/AFL academy representative and gained All-Australian status at the National AFL under 18 championships in 2003. Don’t be surprised if Northern Knights midfielder Brent Stanton is also in the mix for the Dons at No.13.

i rate Mclean higher than Cooney, Adcock and Shaw. you may think im just biased demon supporter but it's not such a radical call. Mclean had a mediocre season, true, but last season he ripped it up and anyone following his career would know that this season was crueled by injuries and is not a true indicator. Cooney: inconsistent and overated. Mclean is a better player. Cooney shows zero leadership ability...Mclean is future captain. Adcock: had a far far far better season than Mclean. No doubt! he is a great player, i really rate him dont get me wrong. however in the long-run i see Mclean as a better overall player with a bigger upside with Mclean's leadership giving him the edge. Shaw: r u hoenstly telling me u think Shaw is a better player than Mclean. You really think Shaw was the best player drafted that year. if so, ur argument is bollocks. who is better is obv subjective and arguable... none the less, McLean WAS tipped to be pick 10-15 in most phantom drafts. i followed them that year religiously bc we had 2 top 5 picks
-
You have actually done a surprisingly good job Joeboy considering ur trying to sum up an entire season in 3 words... apart from these 5 i agree with everything else. Bate: completely incorrect assessment of his year. Bate began the first 3-4 rounds this season looking slow and out of his depth playing on the wing and HFF. Since he was moved to CHF or the leading HFF role he has developed his game outstandingly well. he has shown this season that he has sticky hands, a great motor, works his butt off, has a good goal sense and a booming left foot. What has impressed me most is that unlike Miller who plays CHF, Bate has a good footy brain and knows what to do with the ball when he's got it (and not just wildly handpass it off ala Miller.) He had a good season all things considered and continued his development nicely. Cant believe this guy is only 20. manchild! Bell: Your assessment does not give justification to Bell's season. he came out of the wilderness of sorts and was a shining light for me all season. he should 100% come top 5 in the B&F this year, thought defenders tend to get left out of votes sometimes. he was hard at it, showed he has courage, a solid mark and good run from defense. what i liked most is that we finally found a defender who can get a punch in!!! thank god! anyone remember queens bday game...he was consistent this season and is now an important part of the defense and a definite starting 18. Bruce: i kinda agree. if his kicks were as damaging as buckley or kerr he would be a superstar...but alas he isnt...he really didnt have such a bad year, its just i always hoped hed step up a level and beome an AA midfielder. he neva will be... Buckley: for me he showed promise. has pace to burn and is 190cm. he can get the footy and uses it ok. could become a footballer. he should have gotten more gametime in the last 8 weeks to fast-track his development but Riley is a knobjockey. Sylvia: again, i kinda agree...but your assessment fails to recognize that he made big steps forward this year. bc he had zero preseason he had to play HFF the whole season bcof lack of fitness. he showed that he has an outstanding overhead mark, a good kick and surprisingly good pace. developed really well this season and with a full preseason i see him as a starting midfielder
-
your perception of Palmer is misinformed... he did not simply play one good match...he has been consistently getting big possies this entire season, and has especially kicked on since the championships with a number of very dominant games. is a definite top 10 pick, could even go as high as pick 3 and i would not be dissapointed if we take him at pick 4...however i agree he is probably more worth pick 7-10 (if only we could somehow get a 2nd top 10 pick! btw, i think people should remember one thing. Phantom drafts are not always accurate. The people who know the most about the young kidz are 100% the recruiting scouts like CAC. they go out and watch these kidz play every week! they know more than anyone of this board or bigfooty forum...so whoever we pick up we can trust that CAC has the inside knowledge and picked him for a reason. just to prove my point... i have been following phantom drafts closely for the last 3-4 years...(i love the speculation and rumours) When Mclean was drafted pick 5, nearly every phantom draft had him pick 12-15. people straight after the draft believed we picked him up too high. yet within 12 months it was clear he was a clear top 5 pick and imo was the best player drafted that year by a long way. a future star and captain of our club... Another example is Pendlebry. He was picked up at 5 (i believe) when most predicted him to go around 10-13 and no higher. with his basketball background people saw him as a risk for such a high pick...he is an absolute star in the making... so people should enjoy phantom drafts and speculation, but know that at the end of the day CAC knows best and has a great track record at picking up guns. for me, if Kruiser, Cotchin and Morton go 1-2-3 i would definitely take Henderson. Not often do u get an opportunity to take clearly the best KPP in a draft...my next best options are Ebert or Rance.
-
With Pick 4, we have an opportunity to get an absolute gun. wat type of player is up to Bailey and CAC. So the question is, who do we have to pick from. The top 3 looks likely to be Kruiser, Cotchin and Morton. all 3 are outstanding prospects. if one of those slips through to 4, we should definitely take him. but lets assume thats the top 3... we could choose a) the next best midfielder behind Cotchin and Morton: this is Ebert no doubt for me. Palmer and Masten are also very close behind and would not be silly selections at pick 4. none of these 3 will slip past pick 8. B) The best true ruckman (Kruiser is a gun/but in terms of rucking ability, is not the best available. he is more of a 199cm rover): This is definitely McEvoy. he would be a good choice at pick 4 because he will fill up a big problem for MFC and become a 10 yr ruckman we desperately need to replace white. The only problem is that pick 4 is too high a pick for him imo. he is probably worth pick 9-10. c) The best Key Forward: This is Henderson. I think we should go for him. how often does a team get to pick the best key position prospect in a draft!!! would be an awesome pick up. he would definitely become a quality KPP for us and would take CHF or CHB. both of these positions need filling badly so also fills a requirement. d) the best key defender: This is Rance. he would be a great pick up. most see him as a top 8 pick, with some seeing him as a top5 pick. He will be awesome key defender and along with Frawley and River would ensure we finally can develop a strong defense. We despereately need a big key defender to go along with carrol, Rivers and Frawley bc none of them are capable of shutting down the best key forwards in the game. Rance could be our man, but i suspect pick 4 is a little too high for him. probably more worth pick 8-9. still he would not be a silly pick up. So, whoever we pick up, whether it be a midfiedler, ruck, key back or key forward we are getting a really exciting prospect who could fill a big gap in our side. i am hoping for henderson or hopefully Morton, but any of those are great pick ups. embarrassement of riches to choose from in the top 10-15 picks this year. it would be really awesome if we could somehow get 2 top10 picks somehow through trading (of Johnstone/Bruce). I know it would mean giving up quality...but if we had 2 top10 picks then we could pick up a quality Midfielder and KPP. unfortunately if we only have pick 4, if we get an extra gun midfielder we need, we will still be lacking in KPP or visa versa...
-
3 other guys who will be right in contention for pick 4 are: Rys Palmer- highly rated midfielder who ripped up the championships (including one game 35 possies 5 goals) McEvoy- the best genuine ruckman in the draft. good taps and strong around the ground (Kruiser is almost like a 199cm rover rather than a genuine ruckman) Rance- many predict melbourne will pick Rance. he is the best key position defender in the draft and is considered one of the best key defensive prospects to come out of a draft in years. He is a definite top 10 pick, most predicting he will not go lower than pick 8. (Unlike Frawley, who was highly rated, but most rated as a lower first ruond pick, rather than a top10 pick) can people imagine 3 highly rated key defenders (Frawley 18yrold, Rance 17yrold and Rivers 22yrold) developing together. we'd have the best backline in the league in 3 years. that could be worth seriously considering! Add in Bell (23yrold), Pettard (19yrold), Garland (18yrold), Bartram (20yrold) and Carrol (26yrold) and we could have a seriously strong defense with all these guyz developing their skills together over the next 2-3 years.
-
roger hayden above heath shaw? i thought he was a definite AA this year...couldnt make the top 40
-
Dunn could definitely be developed into a Chad Cornesesk CHB. i think it could be a clever move. he is agile and has great running ability and skill...but also has the frame and size to grow into a key position. Chad Cornes is one of the hardest runners and best rebounders from defense in the game. i guerentee you that he wasnt this at 20 years of age. Dunn is developing beautifully. Maybe Dunn will better be suited to HFF or midfield...however if bailey decides to develop him into a CHB then he needs to train the entire preseason with the key defenders and spend plenty of time in the gym. becoming a key backman doesnt just happen. Dunn has shown tremendous versatility in his short career, i dont see y, with a bit of practise, he could play as a key defender who has a big engine rebounding out of the backline.
-
you have pretty much named our best 22 as it stands right now. you have not suggested anything different...i dont get it is this a thread about our team for round 1 2008..? if i was going to make some positional changes i would consider: 1) put Sylvia and Bate into the midfield group over pre-season training and give them the fitness to become permanant midfielders and not half-forward flankers. 2) Trying to turn Dunn into a CHB 3) Giving Bell a go in the midfield could work 4) i know its not positional change, but Frawley to be locked in the gym over the summer and developed into a big-bodied key defender
-
i agree almost 100% with your thoughts Jarka. One of Ferguson or Warnock should definitely be delisted bc both are depth. i would peronsally keep Ferguson, however it seems Warnock has 1 year left of a contract, which means i would delist Ferguson instead. The only other difference for me is that i would keep Holland as depth (he has been one of our best performers this season), and instead put Miller up for trade. I suspect someone will be interested enough to offer a 3rd round pick. if noone offers nething then delist. Nb: the 6 picks can be broken up into 5 in the national draft and 1 in the PSD (we have pick3 so could get a good uncontracted player). 5 in the national draft sounds more than reasonable and highly necessary. i reckon Morton 100% if he somehow slips through...i reckon he could easily go pick 1 if kruiser hadnt been so hyped up. If not him, then you couldnt go past Henderson. a 195cm future star who is by far the best key position player in the draft. We badly need a big bodied CHF or CHB. i see Bate, Dunn as more versatile, hard-leading half-forward flankers and Newton as a future FullForward (therefore CHF still open). i see Rivers as a 3rd tall backman and Frawley also as a tall half back flanker. i hope he can develop into a strong CHF but at this stage we can still only a hope. i quality kep position player would be awesome, and wouldnt it be amazing if we found the answer to our problems after so many failed picks (Molan, Lamb, Smith, Miller, Aaron Rogers...)
-
you are right. the nick davis goal was against geelong. however my point was that StKilda almost won a premiership in 2004 and 2005 with a team made up of 1st round picks. in 2004 they lost by a goal to PortAdelaide in the preliminary. PortAdelaide went on to win the premiership. in 2005 they lost in the preliminary to Sydney. Sydney went on to win the premiership. Whether or not you take notice of that small misinformed (yet totally meaningless) part of the post i made, I think Demetriou would be speaking VERY differently about priority picks had Stkilda won the premiership in one of those 2 years. It is not unfeasable that Carlton could follow the same process that StKilda did after cellardwelling for a few years in a row and compete for the premiership within 2-3 years. They fact that they could become a powerful club purely based on intentional losing is what annoys me. I wonder, Dalrot, if you wanted to contribute to the discussion or not?
-
i agree mostly with those sentiments... Demetriou continuosly reminds us that no premiers/grandfinalists have ever made it there because of priority picks. this is true, a team can just as easily rebuild a team with mid 1st round picks and lower. however, is it just a matter of time before a team cheats the system and wins a premiership by coming bottom 4 for 6 or 7 years runnning? i think so... StKilda almost did it a couple of years ago. if Nick Davis hadn't kicked that miraculous goal in the dying seconds of that preliminary final i think Stkilda might have won a premiership with a team made up of first round picks. Can Carlton do a similar thing but go further? i know teams like PortAdelaide, WestCoast, Sydney and even Geelong are proof that team culture and astute drafting are as important as anything else. but 6 years of toptop draft picks...how can they not build a good team. no question they will be contending in 2-3 years with the team they are building. its just really shits me.
