where we are at in our development, getting Ben Cousin would be idiotic. he's over 30 yrs old, therefore, do NOT get him Out aims should be Robbie Warnock. If we could get someone like Mitch Thorp to nominate that would be genius.
-
C.Johnson needs a few weeks in the team to see if he can hack it. thats wat this season is all about! imo Frawley, Morton, Valenti and CJ. If i had it my way tho, Bode would be replaced by Whelan

i think u meant... booby prize A booby prize is a joke prize usually given in recognition of a terrible performance or last-place finish. The word "boob" stems from the Spanish bobo meaning stupid, which in turn came from the Latin balbus meaning stammering; Booby-prize literally means "idiot's prize.

Let's all barrack for the dockers this week

Damon white is a poor man's Brad Miller, and i'm not even joking

Agreed. only chance would be in PSD, otherwise he'd be worth ALOT. would have to give pick 17 for him, probably more. he's great!
-
Prismal would have been great, but now he has a spot on the geelong team and got 32 possies last year. he would cost WAY too much to trade for. Targeted players should be those NOT getting opportunities at other clubs. If we could convince Mitch Thorp that he will never get into the Hawks line up (Buddylove, Roughead, Boyle, Dowler, Williams etc), then that would be the smartest thing the demons have done in the last 20 years. He is a future superstar, pick 1 PSD would be lovely. Otherwize, Robbie Warnock looks a certainty for the PSD, we'll probalbyl only have to offer pick 32 coz freo can't do [censored] if he threatens to walk

Green should be our captain next year. Sylvia is young and therefore we 1000% should NOT trade him. we need all the young talent to stay. only trades i'd consider at years end would be 1) Bruce for pick 15-22. If no takers, then just keep him. 2) Bell for pick 18-25 back to adelaide. He's not afl standard, but bc of his amazing physique, other clubs might be deceived into thinking he can play.

We need to be looking at the gaps in our list for 2010, because Neitz, McDonald, White, Whelan, Holland, Yze and Carrol will have reitred by then and we will have been able to fully clean out our list of the rubbish (Bode, Weetra, Jamar, C.Johnson, Buckley (probably Meesan and Wheatley too). The players to survive on our list for 2010: KP defenders: Martin, Garland, Rivers, Warnock, Frawley (perhaps McNamara?) KP forwards: Miller, (Newton?) running defenders: Bell, Bartram (perhaps Cheney?) Midfielders: Mclean, Moloney, Jones, Valenti, Grimes, Dunn, Morton Forward flankers: Wonaeamirri, Davey, Maric, Bate, Sylvia, Pettard Ruckman: P.Johnson (Veterans- Robertson, Bruce, Green) I think this list clearly shows the holes we need to aim our drafting towards in the next 2 years. Problem areas---- 1) Ruck: We have a golden opportunity this year to fix up the Ruck problem with Naitanui (pick 1) and Warnock (PSD 1). 2) KP Forwards: As shown above, this is a huge problem area. pick 17 AND possibly pick 18 should be used to try to fix this problem. 3) Pacey midfielders: we have the grunt, hard working midfielders. We need to fast finishers now. Draft appropriotly. 4) running defenders: Wat used to be our strength is now clearly a weakness. Clearly the next 2 years drafting is critical. What do people foresee as our real weaknesses in 2 years time and what types of players are most critical to be aiming at on draft day?

i honestly think we could get pick 15-20 for Bruce. When he's playing well he is by FAR our best and most talented player. has a great engine and is strong is contested situations. He would be great for a club about to push for a flag. If we were offered pick 15 for him, we'd be crazy not to take it.

Y.M's predictions are getting old. it was funny at first, but not anymore

and i must say, i thought Sylvia was very good in quater 1,3 and 4. He is a good player. he is unfairly maligned, and is improving week by week. i think his improvement should be recognised because he has become a good and solid player each week now. he has the attributes to be a star- Strong, good kick, good mark, good tackler. he can translate that into more consistent performances and i'll be exstatic
-
Bate wasn't too bad today at all imo. I think he definitely has the capability of becoming elite. He has played 4-5 games this season already where he has played at an elite level. Last year he did it regularly. if he learns to do it every week, he will be considered a star

Before everyone get's stuck into Cale Morton?
sylvinator replied to Neita3000's topic in Melbourne Demons
he is a 10 gamer... he does not have the build for afl. and he just got 20 possies. He's doing just fine. The more he plays at afl level, the better he will get. The ONLY positive out of this year is the fact we're getting 20 games into Wonaeamirri, Garland, Morton etc. DO NOT DROP HIM. let him continue to learn and develop -
Scorpions v Zebras Schizophrenia Match
sylvinator replied to Beach Road Bazza's topic in Melbourne Demons
Y.M, obviously u didn't watch the sandy game today. Carrol was S.H.I.T.E. he consistently turned it over, and had goals kicked regularly on him. he gave away 2 fifty metre penalties which cost goals. 4 times he tried to spoil, missed it, and that led to goals. He is PATHETIC and i thank our lucky stars that finally we have some good young KPP so that he can be delisted at years end. he's sooo bad. Also, his report was soft and he 100% will be cleared for it. he hardly touched the guy tho it was a bit late into his back. worth a free kick n no more. I love Valenti. gets the number 1 tag each week. he's too good for vfl. Buckley ok also. Zomer took 3 really strong marks i liked. Cheney also looks Very promising. i like the look of him. neat skills and good tackling. all in all, the game was pathetic quality and it was 3rd v 4th on the ladder. crap skills and crap game. anyone who thinks the best vfl team would have a chance against the worst afl team has NO IDEA -
some midfielders dominate through sheer pace, strength and agility- Gablett, Judd and Shaun Burgoyne. Others dominate through workhorse like running, accumulation of possessions and overall influence on the contest- Sam Mitchel, Kane Cornes, Greg Williams. Both of these types of midfielders can be equally damaging and equally great. Mclean is obviously in the second category, but that doesn't mean he won't be able to be a star of the competition. He is a great player, and if he plays like he did again Collingwood every week, by the end of his career he will be known as a star. I thought his work at the stoppages and the leadership he showed on Queens bday was OUTSTANDING imo

Frawley has been named and rightly so...this yr is about development and Frawley will only improve by playing senior football.

good topic.... Issue number 1- get a permanent training base. Sign the deal with Casey or find something else. Either way, get a signed agreement with some ground. Issue 2- Get a permanent administrative home. I believe this is going to be next to Collingwood in the rectangular oval. That sounds great. Just make sure it gets done. Issue 3- Make sure we have stability off the field. Having such a large turnover of staff is a sign of weakness of any business. issue 4- Turn around our off-field financial situation issue 5- Try to increase membership to 30,000 at the very least. If these 5 issues were addressed, then the other clubs would have nothing to really bag us for. Atm they say we have no home, no money and stability. These things are fixable. once we turn these around, money will start to come in more freely and as a result performances onfield will no doubt be affected positively on-field.

nonetheless, pure pace can be overrated. Sure, every team needs a flashy finisher or two- just look at the importance of Pendlebury at Collingwood. We have one in Davey and another one wouldn't hurt. However quick ball movement is everything, not quick speed necessarily. A midfield of Jones, Mclean, Moloney, Valenti and Davey could loook very quick if they use the ball well and efficiently. just look at Hawthorn. They core of their is Mitchel, Sewell, Hodge, Crawford, McGlynn. NONE of these players are super quick. They are all tough, talented players who use the ball efficiently and cleverly. they do have Batemen who is super quick and he tops them off nicely, but he Bateman often play off half back rather than in the midfield.... the point i'm makign is quite clear
-
btw i meant ruckman to replace white
-
We still have plenty of holes: 1) Ruckman to replace Neitz (Naita, Warnock???) 2) Fast outsider midfielder to finish off the work of Jones, McLean, Valenti, Moloney etc 3) Running defender--- Birchall, Jakey King, or Gram type... 4) Goal kicking forwards! Maric will help, but a big strong forward needs to be found ASAP because even if we draft one this year, he'll take 2-3 years before he can start stamping himself on matches. Mitch Clarke looks like one of the most talented young forwards i'v seen, and he's been in the system 3 yrs now n still is too lightly framed to make an impact. key forwards r hard to find and take time. Maybe if we could lure a guy like Mitch Thorp or Beau Dowler could be go
-
grimes might be one paced, but he isn't slow. his 20m sprint time at the academy was under 3 seconds and was in the 'elite' level i believe. his beep test was also 15.10 which would have EASILY made him the number 1 endurance at draft camp had he not been injured.
-
as has already been mentioned, Frawley is a second year player. he is 19 yrs old and still is lightly built yet ppl want him to be able to outmaneavre strong bodied experienced forwards... Guyz like Mitch Thorp, Beau Dowler, Ben Reid and other top10 draftee KPP are still learning the trade at vfl bc KPP take longer to develop. Garland has shown how improvement can come at any time when u least suspect it, and it would silly to rule out frawley bc he isn't setting the world on fire atm. As long as he gets 15 games experience this season he will be better for it come 2009
