  1. Our players who get me excited are Davey, Jurrah, Green, Sylvia, Bruce, Moloney, Frawley, Grimes, Bruce, Bennell, Buckley. I like most of our players. I don't like Paul Johnson (nothing personal - never met the bloke or heard him interviewed, I just don't like him or rate him as a player) and I don't like Newton either (same dif, sure he's a nice bloke but he is not AFL-standard). Off topic, players I like from other teams are Simon Black, Luke Power, J. Brown, Travis Johnstone, Marc Murphy, Bryce Gibbs, Ryan O'Keefe, Jude Bolton, Brett Kirk (probably the player I respect most), Adam Goodes, Tadhg Kennelly, Jimmy Bartel, Gary Ablett, Joel Selwood, Nick Riewoldt, Sam Fisher, Luke Hodge, Brad Sewell, Sam Mitchell, Kane Cornes, Daniel Giansiracusa, Brad Johnson, Lindsay Gillbee, Adam McPhee, Scott Thompson, James Sellar, Brock McLean and Matthew Pavlich.
  2. HAHAHA 'delete', haha sounds like they are going to get offed by Alphonse Gangitano!! Well to be fair, Barts was on the cusp, has been 50/50 all year in terms of whether he'll be there in 2010. Not a bad player, lots of heart, a 'tryer', but if he is to go, that is the harsh reality of AFL football in 2009. A handful of players have to be delisted from every club, every year. He's good enough to play AFL football but there are a lot of players who are good enough who aren't in the system, that's the way the draft/salary-cap system works in our game. We will use picks 1, 2, 11, 18 and 34, but I would say it is 50-50 whether we use pick 50. If we get Luke Ball (which I am starting to like more and more every day) then I can't see us using 50... 5 fresh youngsters plus Ball would be brilliant. Pick 50 would be surplus to requirements, and would require another delisting, possibly of someone like Buckley, and for mine, Bucks is going to be as good as any pick 50 unless there's a freak who's gone unspotted.
  3. An unfortunate time for him to be the age he is, at the club he was. At his best he was a very handy runner off the half-back flank. Was one of our better players last season ('08). Well done Wheats. Why wouldn't he have a punt at making the NFL? He was kicking it 80 metres two months ago...
  4. I actually laughed aloud at this!
  5. 1. Davey 2. Moloney 3. Sylvia 4. Frawley 5. Bruce Why is it in mid-October, by the way??
  6. It's because they over-complicate goal kicking. Most professional players can kick the ball to a team-mate across half-back, 40 metres away, and get it within 1-2 metres of him, nine times out of ten, some would be close to 98/99 out of 100. A lot of players change their techniques when kicking for goal. Yes, if you are kicking from 45+, many players will need to give it an extra roost, but how many set shots are still missed from within 35 metres? Players are more concerned about the consequences of missing an easy shot or not finishing off the piece of play when they shouldn't even be thinking that at all: they should be thinking about how good it is going to be to kick a goal. You should get excited at the prospect of kicking a goal - not nervous at the prospect of missing. Players should do one of two things: either pick out a target behind the goals - a fan, a seat, an advertising sign - and aim for that, or do what I do; kick it hard at the middle. Works a treat for me.
  7. Click on "My Controls" (just below Liam Jurrah in the banner on my screen/look above where "add reply" is and you'll see it), then on the left-hand-side of the screen there is an option called "Edit Avatar Settings".
  8. I like this progression idea. Jakovich. I also like Stynes around this time too. then no standouts for a while, then Cameron Bruce Jeff White Aaron Davey.
  9. Yeah it's the same time as last year. It is very early, but I believe the players voted to have it like this, so that their holidays are dispersed throughout the pre-season, rather than starting in three weeks and not having any long weekends etc.. This way, they are basically training for 6 months but they get holidays within that time. But it is pretty crazy to think that they'll have had nearly three months under the belt come January 1!
  10. Yeah same here, mine on the car looks brand new. This is a good thread!
  11. He needs 10kgs of muscle. Needs it so he can start winning more of his own ball; holding his ground in one-on-ones; and to assert himself around the ground and on the game. He's going to be a good player, but I am not one who thinks that he is the next elite midfielder. He'll be good, but he won't be our best player. However I do seem to often forget that he's only had two seasons of football. He'll have his 100 games up at the age of 22. Guess I'm underselling him a bit. Could be a star. Will be an essential part of our finals team in the middle stages of the next decade regardless of how good he gets.
  12. He's a great shot for goal, use him of the flank I say. Right now he's in out top two best players. He is in his prime right now, and he has a big part to play in the side during the next 2-3 years. He's not ready to start taking a bit-part role yet. He will be in the thick of it - albeit most likely off a flank or in a pocket more often than in the middle - but he will continue to be one of our most important players. Will bring up his 200 early in 2010 which will be a great milestone for one of our best players. He'll turn 29 at the start of the season, and he's got at least 4 years left in him I'd say.
  13. Hey not sure if you mean the site justin.tv? Because that is great. Maybe it has a sister site Justine.tv but justin.tv is good too! Fkn Sturt, can't believe we (Glenelg) went out in straight sets. Two minor premierships on the trot. Next year surely... The wait goes on... 24 years... Oh and by the way, Trengove is an absolute gun and would be more than happy picking him up with one of the first two picks. One of my mates who follows the TAC Cup and the draft etc. very, very closely reckons that Trengove's form in the last month has been enough to seriously push Scully as the number 1. (Not that it matters who goes 1 or 2, but it is very exciting that someone has come up to Scully's level, who six months ago was head-and-shoulders above everyone else in this draft. If we are going to get the two clear standouts in the draft at this stage, I'm wrapped.)
  14. Yeah I renewed. The monthly payment deal is great, especially for me being a student and generally wasting all my money on alcohol, direct debit out of my account a little each month, I hardly notice it so it's great. Got a good feeling about 2010, I think we will knock off a few top-8 sides and get up above three or four other teams.
  15. Yeah well he said at the Brownlow (before he was drunk) that he supports St Kilda and hoped they got up in the GF. Sydney are apparently not keen.
  16. HAHA that is golden! I sat on my couch at home and watched it by myself and didn't have a drop of alcohol. First GF I've ever watched like that. I actually enjoyed watching it being completely sober, I haven't done that for a GF since 2001 when I was there. I am on a drinking ban ('til end of October, two whole weeks!) and I went to a concert that night and I had to drive. I knew that if I watched it with my mates I would have drunk so had to be responsible! And then Glenelg went and lost in the prelim in the SANFL yesterday and I almost broke the drinking ban then too!
  17. This is pretty close to what I would like to see. This is with Blease, Strauss, Picks 11, 18 + others, Jetta, Maric, Miller, Dunn, Bartram and Buckley in reserve. Think we'll do ok in 2010!
  18. Yeah agree 100% Nash, his game against Hawthorn was phenomenal. One of the best individual performances for MFC in the past three years without question. Sylvia can become an A-grade midfielder next year and beyond.
  19. Yeah Blease and Strauss are the real bonuses for us for 2010. Basically means we will have SIX top-20 picks who haven't debuted yet for 2010!
  20. You make good posts. Is it just me or has Miller's kicking got worse in the last 1-2 years? He inspires the same confidence that Jamar does when lining up these days. Even Russian can kick a bag though! It's all in the confidence with Miller, which I find strange. He has no confidence when trying to slot the ball through for a goal, yet he has the confidence to try the tough stuff with absolutely anyone in the competition. I reckon if he got his head right he could kick 30 goals or more in a season. Guess he's got next year to try that. Another season like 2009 and he could not justify a place on our list.
  21. I often wonder what turtle tastes like.
  22. I've been that out of control many times. The difference is that I've never done it at a black-tie function, in front of the national media, in front of my employers, when I was representing my employer(s). And I didn't have a pregneant wife and two kids at home, either. Travis Johnstone used to get drunk at the Brownlow, too. That's true. He used to lick Ben Holland's face and make silly faces and I'm sure many other things. But I never heard of him leaning on a young girl and moving his beer bottle up and down and screaming "It's a dildo! It's a dildo!".
  23. Yep, this guy is going to be vital to us as a small-forward next year. Him crumbing off of Jurrah (Jurrah crumbs his own crumbs, but still) and Watts developing, and Bate off of a flank, and guys like Petterd, Maric, Blease/Strauss?, and Morton, Sylvia and Davey rotating through the flanks, plus possibly pick 11/18 etc., [oops, forgot Jetta as well!] the forward set-up could begin to take some lethal shape.
  24. The bloke is a highly-paid, immature, uncultured, arrogant, ignorant, narcissistic moron, who unfortunately enjoys support from some of the public and even more unfortunately, enjoys air time on prime-time television.
  25. Gee, didn't see this one coming. Have to say though, we've done bloody well to get pick 11 in this year's draft for him though. Decent player but has been very injury-plagued and has had some awful games in the last two years. (Has also shown that he was potentially one of our top few at other times, too.) Have to say that I am positive about this move. Picks 1, 2, 11 and 18, that is just brilliant. Is that unprecedented? Four inside the top 20? And then probably four more picks, and pick 1 in the PSD. Geez 2014 is looking like the year. Thanks for your service Brock, you won't be forgotten and will receive a great reception from the red and blue.
