  1. I don't want to be disrespectful but I have seen every Jefferson game at Casey and the only thing I have seen him split is a vanilla slice with his aunty. Certainly not a pack. But, I think he will get there. Schache has had lots of chances, has ability and has to start imposing himself. I'm glad it is one year.
  2. For those that don't usually go to VFL games, I can thoroughly recommend it. This should be a great game, you get to see players that are on the fringe and champs like T Mac etc. A real bonus is you simply don't get the nuff nuffs that you get at AFL matches. In the years I've been watching VFL I can't remember any bad crowd behaviour...not that I am at all sensitive but just don't need the garbage. Kids have a kick during breaks and you can buy a can of beer if that is your go.
  3. Big issues on Saturday are who will not be picked due to a possibility they might be needed on Thursday and, worse, if any players are directed to play limited minutes.
  4. Yes, but day release mean many can't get to night games.
  5. I am pretty sure the last few posts are wrong. Rule 20(i) is expressed to be despite the rest of rule 20. So, all players that did not play in the AFL team against Sydney on the weekend are eligible to play for Casey this weekend. They don't have to have played 6 VFL games or even 1 VFL game. Happy to be corrected if someone can point to rule implemented after 2016.
  6. I think the Rules you are referring to have been rewritten. The Rule you quote is the 2011 version, there is a 2016 version and there may even be later that I couldn't find. Of course, any rule can be overridden by an AFL press release at any time , retrospectively if Gil thinks it is a good idea. ( half joking )
  7. Not quite right, I believe. Rule 20(i) provides an exception. Where the AFL team is in finals, listed players can be picked in VFL teams for this bye weekend if they did not play in the AFL team the previous week.
  8. Yes. Games remain on AFL site. You can access after the game. I am not sure how long for but it is at least days, maybe weeks, maybe longer.
  9. Lot of pessimists on this side. When we played Bulldogs early this season Casey won 94 - 57. Recent form includes the narrowest of losses, 1 point to Williamstown and 2 points to Brisbane. There is enough listed talent and a core of very good Casey stalwarts to go all the way. Timing of AFL v VFL schedules and locations will affect availability of players.
  10. Disappointed ?! It is ideal!!! So long as the boys win 5 games straight the firsts will have the advantage of a reserves team playing every week. The teams that stuffed up and made top 6 or, even worse, top 4 and win qualifier ( Brisbane ? ), haven't thought it through.
  11. It wasn't harsh. It was quite reasonable comment. Hopefully it will come with some extra muscle.
  12. My interpretation, to avoid dropping to 7th ( where they went to today but with a game to come ) the boys have to not only win tomorrow, but do so by a margin of around 28% to avoid being in 7th on percentage. A challenge but doable.
  13. I think that is probably right. Bell a bit unlucky not to come back in after injury but, to put it mildly, team seems okay in the talls department. I am not sure it will start that way, but the FF line is remarkable.
  14. Sure, that's right nafan..they chose to lose and to really make sure they decided to do it by 20 goals ...the whole team was in on it and the coach was happy to look bad. That is why they are pretending to have so many injured players. I am so sick of these former players and coaches talking this dribble to have something controversial to say. Cornes is the worst.
  15. Interesting ladder position in VFL, at least to me. Casey and Bulldogs sit 6 and 7 on ladder on same points, casey 6 ahead on %. Last game with Bulldogs playing port so should win and Casey playing Brisbane at Casey with at least 1 or 2 players not available due to firsts playing later on sunday. So if Casey lose and Bulldogs win Casey will slide to 7 on ladder and go into the wildcard draw. Not good. However, it is far better for Goodwin's crew to have Casey playing so fringe players get a run. I remain quietly optimistic about Casey's chances.
  16. Good write up. No stats for grey other than kicked 1.1.must have had at least 2 kicks ?
  17. fourth umpire was a mistake by the AFL...chance of admitting error and reverting...nil
  18. Just to clarify that, I don't think it needs to be in "each" game. For the final percentage to be higher than current, the totals of the margins for the remaining games, expressed as a percentage in the usual manner, has to be higher than the current percentage.
  19. Toby. Could you imagine being a backman, ball coming in and you have kozzie on one side and Toby on other. Tempted, but Hawkins a bridge too far.
  20. That's a bit harsh, in my view. He doesn't seem to relish the heavy going and badly needs to put on muscle but he has shown obvious consistent improvement and can mark and kick, still handy attributes. Will be a good player in 2025.
  21. I will settle for just no "the bounce". Excruciating.
  22. < means less than. Did you mean greater than, which is > ? I don't mean to be pedantic .
  23. Does my head in...pies worse...spoils a day at the footy.
