  1. It's the earlier ones that count.
  2. True, there's a hundred phantom drafts on BigFooty all of varying quality and many just following the leader. I could make one up and it would be worth jack. But Emma Quayle and Matt Burgan have good records with their predictions. The fact that he rates Panos out of our zone whereas quite a few BF phantoms have him going to Port is instructive. The early ranges he's set on those players is also instructive. 5 means North or Sydney might be the first interested 8 means Port 10 means us and Carlton because Essendon will probably take a mid.
  3. Anyone consider that Buckley may have delisted us? It's pure speculation but we did 1 year deals with Jamar and Miller. It's quite possible we offered a firm 1 year to Buckley and he had a better offer elsewhere.
  4. Yes. And if we're looking for a KPF at 11 and possibly 18 these are the tall forwards candidates he lists: Aaron Black (10-25) John Butcher (5-20) Jake Carlisle (5-20) Ben Griffiths (10-35) Daniel Talia (8-25) Panos is rated later
  5. If he's set on leaving St.Kilda he doesn't want to come to us through the PSD he'll have to go into the ND He's the right age to go to West Coast, fits in with Cox / Glass / Kerr window and they have 22 and 23 but I'm not sure if he suits Subi. I'd expect him to go to Essendon or North at 24, 25, 26 if not he'll probably make it to the Pies at 30.
  6. That's definitely possible and I hope it's the case. I guess right now only he knows what he's thinking, but we'll find out. Either way I could understand his reasoning.
  7. Half-wit I am then, but maybe that's half more than some. Richmond's midfield is superior to ours right now and they have pick 3 in this draft. At Melbourne Luke Ball would be our best midfielder and get the most opposition attention - he'd be the human shield as our midfield grows up. I can see why this has limited appeal. At Richmond he'd be one among Cousins, Deledio, Foley and Cotchin I can see how that would be more appealing But I agree there'd be no way he could get to Richmond without our consent. I agree that there's something disagreeable about drafting aplayer who says he doesn't want to be at our club but there's somthing equally disagreeable about bending to this attitude when the rules give us the right to pick him. What if Trengove said he didn't want to leave South Australia or Scully said he loves Richmond and only wants to play for them?
  8. The AFL could go a long way by making the Brownlow a non-drinking night. Geelong and St.Kilda players seemed to cope OK. I guess because the AFL have an alcohol company as a key partner they're in a difficult position. http://www.afl.com.au/corporate%20partners...26/default.aspx "...Carlton Natural Blonde will be seen everywhere throughout the home and away season. ..."
  9. True and Jason Gram very nearly won the Norm Smith Medal. It's a fine line between pleasure and pain.
  10. You mean like deed poll did? Pick 8 + 9 for 2 is a big offer A bit like Sydney's 6 + 14 for Richmoond's 3 It's going to be interesting to see how the 1st round pans out over time given these offers to get into the pointy end.
  11. Agree, strategic mistake IMO. If we told his manager we rate him and would take him with 18 then he may as well come to us in the PSD.
  12. Yep it makes sense, Lyon could have got him to where he wanted to go. He made a point about what St.Kilda would accept but it was at Balls expense. It's not Ball's fault that, as the whole industry knows, Collingwood are almost impossible to deal with.
  13. All contracts end 31 October. AFAIK he can nominate for either draft or both.
  14. He can nominate for either with contract terms and the firts club willing to mmet the contract and spend the pick get him. In the PSD that's us, in the ND the club has to be prepared to spend the pick, that wouldn't be us because we would need to to use 18 to trump Collingwood's 30. I doubt he'd go earlier than 18 unless Port was in the market at 16 so Ball needs to look at the clubs with picks 19 to 29 and see whether he'd get thru to 30.
  15. Would he get to Collingwood at 30 in the ND with $400K x 3 on his head? I think it's possible.
  16. While true - it's annoyingly large on my Blackberry.
  17. effectively McLean + Henderson for Fev + 27 - good work!
  18. TRADE WEEK: Brendan Fevola and pick 27 to Brisbane. Lachie Henderson and Pick 12 to Carlton
  19. Biggest trade non-event Heffernan + 15 (426) for 10 (Laycock)
  20. Internet rumour: TRADE NEWS: Burgoyne to Hawthorn. Picks 9 and 16 to Port Adelaide. Mark Williams and Pick 24 (from Port) to Essendon.
  21. we must be watching different games agree - I don't think he's in their bottom 6, but he could get injured and Bartram and Dunn offer similar to his replacements damned by faint praise? So does Steven Armstrong Now you're getting the picture, he's not a good player St.Kilda (like Sydney) has a history of trading for other teams unwanted and unloved and plugging specific roles with them - Buckley, Bartram or Dunn may fit a need. Are they worse than Charlie Gardiner or more unloved than Zac Dawson was?
  22. How many hookers in the Carlton crew limo that met them at the airport?
  23. Swans looking at 14 + 46 from Collingwood for Jolly. Surprised Sydney is not in the market for Ball - he suits them perfectly. I'd reckon the 14 in the Jolly deal straight to the Saints or to the Dogs for Everitt in a 3-way would get the job done with change. If they can swing the 46 part for Mumford it would be Ball and Mumford for Jolly - not a bad week's work there.
