Rohan was pick 64, Jordie was a rookie and Cotchin was pick 2.

Where's my evidence? The factions that destabilised the club were Schwab and Connolly (Lyon's great mates) versus Bailey, Prendergast and Flack (Lyon hired Bailey). Lyon was instrumental in Bailey's sacking, hired his replacement and was at the club as Football Director leading up to the time when Prendergast and Flack "left". Subsequently those disgruntled forces poured petrol on the tanking investigation. All this was widely reported in the media. Lyon is up to his elbows in the conflict at MFC and then has the gall to write that article. He should shut up. The paranoid delusion on this forum that somehow Fan, TimD or any other poster here is actually a player in the destabilisation is ludicrous and defamatory. They're just fans who've posted their take on a pissant forum. Lyon is a combatant who has slurred MFC in the national media. If Wilson wrote that article there would be blood frothing at the mouths of posters here. That Lyon wrote it is 100x worse.

You've got the wrong metaphor - Lyon is the working girl's pimp questioning her morals.

How David Neitz is not in there is beyond me. Record games, record goals, record games as captain.

He's front and centre on the Demonland banner.

Just to make my "agenda" completely clear - I don't have an axe to grind with Gardner and his board, Stynes or McLardy and their board, Schwab, Connolly, Bailey or Neeld - yeah each has made some mistakes but they've all worked selflessly and tirelessly and done their best for the club.

Look I wouldn't have a problem with it at all if he said:

New Cat lands on his feet Gee Garry is that right? With all your mates in charge and with two coaches that you picked? Our greatest ally would be for you not to "help" us any more.

Mate - I was born in a premiership year on Queens Birthday holiday at 4pm just 1km from the MCG as the siren sounded on another Demon victory, this time over Richmond. By the time I was 9 years old we'd never missed the finals and won 6 flags. The one laughing in those first 2 frames was me and no-one can take that away.

Broadcast deal is roughly $1B/5 years or $200M/yr. The AFL distributes roughly $10M per club per year - you do the maths.

You probably think dating the godfather's daughter is a good plan too.

I think Thomas would be a great pickup - but I wouldn't chase him. Maguire is a powerful, irrational, vindictive force. We don't need him as an enemy. Many will say this is weak - I say it's prudent. We did a nice win-win trade for Dawes, that's the sort of dealing we want with Collingwood. We'll have a strong draft position again this year and should seek to trade in a decent experienced mid like we chased last year e.g. Mackay - we should have a pick in the early 20s. We'll probably have to grow our own stars and with Trengove, Viney and Toumpas coming through and a likley top 5 pick this year we have the opportunity.

Thanks for your insight Webber Not standing up to the demands of weight bearing sounds like recurrence to me - maybe there's some technical medical difference? You say there's no greater frequency of recurrence. What's the threshold when you can say he's "cured" and are we passed that - that's what you seem to be saying?
-
Yes agree with this - we had a good off-season recruiting but we didn't land the mid-fielders we targetted - Mackay and Ray. We've got the worst mid-field in the league and until that's fixed we'll really struggle.

Somebody's gotta come last ...

I touched wood when I read Mitch sent one through post high.

Flower sits comfortably in the Ablett Jnr, Judd, Pendlebury, Watson, Swan, Mitchell, Hayes, Cotchin spectrum - Clark and Frawley are as good as any we've had recently in their respective areas. It's Flower, Flower and then Flower.
-
With the current state of our list it's Robert Flower, then daylight, ... we'd be knocking top 4.

less players = less congestion

The anti-Jordie!

I've got the largest one going.

I agree Dunn is faux-tough and the cognoscenti hate him for it - but I've got a bit of time for him - he can actually play and has found a role that really suits him. I recall the incident Left Field highlighted and it was a shocker, but the running with the flight spoil in the BP was all class - that's a very hard skill. If he can fake it until he makes it on the toughness front then he can become a very handy player. He's well in my starting 18 right now.

Pick your fringe player for round 1 and the rest of the season

You've got to be kidding me - while we will play 30+ players this year and every year through injury and rotations, we'll be seeking to establish a core closer to 22 than 10. Stability and knowledge of playing together just cannot be under-estimated. Sydney had 18 players who played 22+ games last year and 22 players who played 17+ -

I think Evans has got some class and can find the ball, if his body can hold up he will make it I reckon.
