  1. I don't think that's exactly right. I agree that the coach shouldn't have input into the actual player selected but he needs to advise the characteristics he values and the recruiter needs to be guided by those characteristics and select players that meet them.
  2. I used to think that when Sandringham were winning those flags.
  3. Doesn't drink or smoke enough
  4. The opportunity cost of the pick is less but the main risk is the potential disruption, grief, bad publicity and use of finite player management resources. That's the same whether he's pick 4 or rookie pick 44. I wouldn't touch him.

  7. I can't deny it - the player numbers stuff fascinates me.
  8. Surely we should take Garlett with 4? http://www.bigfooty....4#post-26452632
  9. Sounds like the sort of "problem" I like.
  10. You're the weak one - we should be aiming for the flag - in fact 5 flags in a row - time to harden up.
  11. Mick Malthouse said that, not Mark Neeld - while we're on the topic of accurate reporting ...

The likely reality is that Caroline Wilson, once the ace of AFL investigative reporting has simply lost it. Spooked by the massive retrenchments at The Age, Mike Sheahan calling is semi-quits and young gun Emma Quayle trumping her comprehensively by breaking the Tippett story, Caroline simply went too hard and too far, too fast on insufficient information in a desperate bid to stay relevant. And now is back-paddling faster than a kayaker 10 metres from the edge of Victoria Falls.
  13. I don't think Hodge is a starting mid any more.
  14. That's a real pity - heart as big as house, good player - courageous, disciplined, great runner and good decision maker - only limited by his disposal skills. I really hope we can find a spot for him in our FD as a mentor.
  15. Scarlett didn't play full-back though (except in the ill-fated 2008 GF) - Lonergan does and Harry Taylor is the 2nd KPB. Scarlett was 3rd tall defender like Fletcher is. Rivers is a direct role replacement - just not as good or as quick.
  16. Wines tested at the draft combine already at 188/90. Cunnington is 185/86, Ziebell is a better comparison at 188/87.
  17. We traded Cale for David Rodan and we traded Stef Martin for list space.
  18. I imagine Jason is watching the Tanking investigation unfold with particular interest.
