  1. The FA compo formula is secret like the PP formula. It wasn't politic for the AFL to give us a PP even though it would appear that we should have met any reasonable formula. I'm more confident of Sylvia compensation being on the generous side - it's a way the AFL can help us with less controversy. I think Port was perceived to be a basket case at the end of 2012 and needed help and got generous FA compo. Unfortunately I don't think they'll be as generous as Band 1 - pick 3 wouldn't fly when Buddy delivers pick 19, but I reckon we'll get Band 3 pick 23 or maybe even Band 2 pick 20 if we're lucky.
  2. Bombers not giving enough and we're not getting enough - they'r not giving 22, just Myers and Crameri, they need to add another decent player (and not Jetta) because they can't add a decent pick with their first pick around 50.. Melbourne - in - Vince, Myers, Hocking Out - pick 2 Essendon - in - pick 2 Out - Crameri, Myers, Hocking Adelaide - in - pick 22 Out - Vince Bulldogs - in - Crameri Out - pick 22
  3. they have to use 3 picks - its likely theyll trade for earlier ones but its not the crazy option you make out
  4. right now our 5th rounder would be essendons 3rd live pick
  5. The problem with that is that we're not really required: St Kilda give a number of senior players/pick to GWS. GWS gives St Kilda Shiel
  6. The problem is GWS needs players, not more picks.
  7. Agree. I can see that pick 1 >> pick 2 because of Boyd. Hard to see that pick 2 >> pick 3 unless Scharenberg is very highly rated by the Giants and they fear MFC may pick him. That trade is effectively 3 + Steven for 2.
  8. That might be fairer but I'd prefer Seedsman who is a midfielder. 2 + 22 for 10 + 11 + Seedsman
  9. Pick 2 to Collingwood for 10,11 and Paul Seedsman - not a rumour, just an idea
  10. The FA period is dragging on and could be shorter, the players involved have known their status all year. But the AFL draft, trade and salary cap system has restraint of trade implication and FA has been introduced to lessen the AFLPA's possible concerns about this - the extended period is about that - not about our impatience. I reckon the FA period is having an affect on our trading, we need resolution of our Sylvia compo pick before we dive in with our 2nd and 3rd round picks - see the mooted Myers trade for example. BTW, I can see no reason at all why St.Kilda would trade Jack Steven - he won their best and fairest, or why Jack Steven would move to another struggling Victorian club. Pelchen is a very good list manager - he was key to that Hawthorn premiership list - I think he knows what he's doing and he's not afraid to be bold. I think the McEvoy trade is bold, a Steven trade would be stupid. That is dreamland.
  11. In your humble opinion. How did your "Savage chooses Carlton" pan out? I've done the maths and your self rating >>> than your actual rating.
  12. Agree pick upgrade is an option. In my dreams 2 + Blease or 2 + Tapscott with the right club might just get a deal over the line. While 2 + N.Jones and 2 + Garland is not on and 2 + Jetta or 2 + Bail is a worse offer than just 2.
  13. Look - like he said - it's a rumour and that's what this is all about - if you're taking all that stuff too seriously you need to re-think.. You posted "Savage chooses Carlton" yesterday and later confirmed you got it from Facebook - hypocrite - that's twice you've done that - called people "flogs" for posting Facebook rumours and done exactly the same yourself. You're vying with hogans_heroes and demoneyes for Most Annoying this trade period.
  14. Jamar not officially on the table until Jolly actually commits to playing on with us is my guess.
  15. Standalone trade - not much value, but they could offer a genuine sweetener to a bigger deal with the right club who sees some value based on an assumption of poor development at MFC, more so than say Strauss, Jetta and Bail who have zero value.
  16. I've been impressed when I've heard Jamar interviewed - showed intelligence and leadership. On the other hand I have heard that "decent trainer" is not necessarily accurate.
  17. Setting aside the merits of the whole concept ... How is Dew moving to MFC while still contracted to Sydney for this successor role any different to the precedent set last year with Cameron to GWS? Sydney and the coaches association need to get off the grass.
  18. And trade pick 1 to us for Teddy Strudwick so they don't have this "go-home" problem in future.
  19. Wow that is a big deal - 17 + Savage for McEvoy. Leaves Longer in the cold. Maybe the Saints could be a destination for Jamar as a bridging #1 ruck (rather than insurance at some other club).
  20. Jamar won't go to GWS to sit behind Mumford - they wouldn't pay much for that either. If he's going to be ruck insurance he'll want it to be at a club contending for the flag and who knows what might happen. Hawthorn and Sydney are both possibilities I reckon.
  21. pick 2 for Shiel. If Jamar is in the deal it's pick 2 + pick 20 + Jamar for Shiel. Although I do sympathise - I'd be willing to sweeten the deal for Shiel if we could too.
  22. Hey Jumbo, wasn't it you who said we were no chance to get Roos?
