Phantom Drafts
Or we're supremely confident he wouldn't get through to 8.

Taylor specifically said that we wouldn't trade down if there was even 1% chance we'd miss the player we want. That makes me think we'll get the same player at 8 or 10.

What you think we'll do and if you don't like that, add what you would do. Jackson, D.Stephens, Pickett

Good on you for finding some quotes. I hope there would be some very positive assessment of the player we're likely to take at 3. But i don't see anyone saying "Yet for some reason itโs an iron clad lock that Jackson will dominate the game." I've followed Pennant St, Mach, Binman and Dr.Evil over the years and they're all good posters who would recognise that every draftee has risks and no-one is "iron clad locks to dominate". They're giving reasons why Jackson might be a risk worth taking.

Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
I gotta say I start to wonder if you really were at these games? That's a pretty fundamental fact you're missing.

What's your view on Dylan Stephens AF? I liked his highlights and what I've read but admit I have no clue. I do realise this is the Pickett thread and after seeing his highlights I'd be excited if we picked him.

I've read the thread and didn't see it. You're making the claim, put up!

Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
I'm not sure whether we'll pick him or not. Taylor does rate him highly, he said so in the Road to the Draft interview. If we think he'll be the best long term prospect at our pick then we'll take him and the fact that he won't play next year is irrelevant.

I haven't read anyone saying that. Quotes please.

What to do with what is now Pick 32?
Training with the backs apparently
-
What to do with Pick 10?
They traded their 2020 1st to Adelaide in the deal for 4. Getting a 2020 1st back offers flexibility and scope next year and is far better than trading down for 2 picks this year that would definitely be swallowed up if they match.
-
What to do with Pick 10?
I'm not sure how having an extra 1st round pick next year is a disadvantage?

What to do with what is now Pick 32?
Pickett would be an exciting pick, his highlight reel shows some real magic.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
You can't trade a pick that you've used in a bid.

What to do with Pick 10?
If we bid Green at 3 the best move for GWS if they want to match is to trade 4 for a 2019 pick in the teens and a 2020 1st rounder. That way only the 2019 pick and later picks get swallowed up and the 2020 1st is quarantined. No doubt they will have this contingency pre organised if they plan to match.

The Splitting of Pick 8
That's a great strategy for getting intel and it's how the order of the top 10 is generally known ahead of the draft. Recruiters won't say what they'll do but they are more likely to say what they think others will do and you can put the jigsaw together. It has got more complicated with live pick trading though.

Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
I had the privilege of a pre-draft meet with the club some years back and we looked at Rohan Bail's QAFL highlights ahead of drafting him. It was a long reel and he continually hit targets or kicked long to advantage like he was Nathan Buckley incarnate. Fast forward to AFL pressure ...

Splitting Draft Pick 3

I wonder how many of the posters saying we should "play safe" on Green or Young have been criticising the decision to take Scully and Trengove over Martin for years? Yes they are 6 different players but the gist is the same. IMO FWIW, no Martin = no Richmond flags.

Jayden Hunt - forward or back
Has high top speed but lacks agility, that's the problem. He missed a bunch of forward line tackles because even though he had the closing straight line speed he couldn't change direction to nail the quarry. Suspect this got worked out down back too. Kinda surprised he wasn't traded.
