Clayton Oliver Contract negotiations
Even taking into account TMac's good start to this year I'd trade him way ahead of Weideman or Jackson if we need Cap space for Oliver and Petracca. We've got the makings of a sustained long term assault on the flag and they are hard to win. Keep showing up for the next 5-7 years and we'll have a good chance of breaking through.

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs GWS
Yes, I'd like to see Melksham come into the wing and Brayshaw go to Sparrow's role. Sparrow's goal against the Saints was all class and he will get his turn.

Clayton Oliver Contract negotiations
Oliver should sign for 2 years on decent coin up to RFA. We need to at least play off in the GF over the next 3 years, hopefully win the flag. He can make up his mind long-term then.

Someone's hacked old dee's account!

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs GWS
Agree. I think this week is a big test for the players' reported resolve to be successful. GWS will throw everything at us and try to hurt us - they have form on this vs the Dogs. It's a great opportunity for the players to stand up and make a statement away from home.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs St. Kilda
We smashed them but they were very gettable in R2 off a wet travelling match and a 6 day break. Marshall, Ryder, Hannebery and Crouch are big outs, bigger than ours. I'm very pleased with a Good win, but keeping the lid on.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
That first tackle was holding the ball - the Freo player had prior opportunity.

Saad looks unhappy - out of the frying pan into the fire.

Angus Brayshaw
Yes, I can see that it's a problem for you when the facts don't suit your narrative ... Since Goodwin took over we brought in: 2016: Lewis, Hibberd 2017: Lever 2018: May 2019: Langdon, Tomlinson 2020: B.Brown In the meantime we drafted Jackson and Pickett. You were on about not picking up Tom Phillips - but at 4 x $600k maybe we prioritised Brown and re-signing Oliver and Petracca over him? Where I see a doughnut, you see the hole, that's the difference between us. Anyway there's one thing we agree on - we have to play and win finals this year.

Angus Brayshaw
You're on record saying Lever and May won the game for us on the weekend and that Langdon is a great pick-up, but you think our list management is no good? If you wanted to see a massive player exit - you would have if Roos had stayed on in 2017. Brayshaw was good on the wing against the Dockers - Yze has brought some new ideas to the midfield and it appears that Goodwin is give him plenty of rope to try them.

Medical Sub
Quoted for emphasis. I 100% agree. I am fine with the Concussion Sub and I'm fine with extending it to Injury Sub, but there has to be a consequence for using it.

How Important was Spargo
Spargo's tackling is good and strong, it was last year too. He goes for the wrist to limit the disposal options. I actually think the AFL should ban that tackle technique, but he is taking full advantage.

CHANGES: Rd 02 vs St. Kilda
https://www.afl.com.au/news/568520/secrets-to-success-every-club-s-cbas-kick-ins-for-r1 St.Kilda's midfield vs GWS: Steele, Clark, Gresham, Bytel, Ross, Sinclair, Higgins Quite frankly Freo's is superior: Fyfe, Brayshaw, Cerra, Serong, Mundy Also Howard, their KPB takes the kick-ins (yes I know May takes ours) - I think this should be exploitable given the new rules. KPF can either get outside 50 to create the turn-over mark, or get back in behind to receive a turnover kick-in when Howard follows through on the kick-in.

How Important was Spargo
Richmond supporters hated Jason Castagna - now 3x Premiership player.

Nothing's changed - you're still whinging even when we win.

TEAMS: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Looking at the last full season in 2019, Charlie Cameron was the only small forward to average 2 or more goals per game. Michael Walters averaged less - is he a dud too? You have no idea what you're talking about.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Were you watching the much-maligned Charlie Spargo at all yesterday? Directly responsible for 3 goals hitting targets inside 50 and kicked one himself - that's more than 1/3rd of our goals scored. And we specifically picked up Bowey and Laurie because they have this trait.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
People complain that we're a one trick pony and then complain when we win easily without using the trick. It's not same-old same-old in the midfield, Yze is trying some very different mixes which is great to see. Freo has a strong midfield with two time Brownlow, reigning Rising Star, Cerra and Brayshaw. It's worth noting that the maligned Goodwin-Mahoney team brought Lever, May and Tomlinson to the club. TMac and Spargo were pretty good too, eh? Lighten up and enjoy a solid win by more than a third of Freo's score going away in the last 20 minutes which we dominated.

You need to buy a Carlton membership genius.

TEAMS: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Selection is pretty much as expected. I'd prefer Chandler to Sparrow but that's small beer. I don't rate Baker. We have gone for seasoned experience to run out the full 120 minutes on a warm day. Speed doesn't help much when you're bent over panting hand on hips in the last 5 minutes of every quarter.

Farewell Oscar McDonald
Yeah I get it, the usual suspects backtracking on their "OMac has no AFL attributes" line and now it's "He was misused by Goodwin" It's like shooting fish in a barrel.
