  1. Contract came to an end the year he won the Bluey. Seems to be a running pattern with TJ, very good when his contract is up for renewal...
  2. Hasn't done much to warrant a second rounder. That's probably what we said to Adelaide. But, until the deal is finalised, judgements are pointless.
  3. they are swapping 25 and 31, it is a nothing sweetener. TJ for 14 is fair, it's about what we got for WW 2 years after he won the Brownlow. And I love TJ too, but sometimes we love things that are not good for us. Time to let go.
  4. Brisbane is not getting pick 14, god this is frustrating. 3 way deals are complicated so you should only look at what clubs give and get at the end. GIVE Melbourne Johnstone Collingwood Pick 14, Shaw Brisbane Wood GET Melbourne Pick 14 Collingwood Wood Brisbane Johnstone, Shaw It is very fair. Maybe you think Brisbane is getting too much, but TJ has got 3 yrs left and Shaw 4/5. Wood has ten years left and is extremely talented. A top 15 pick for lazy 27 yr old with 3 yrs left is a good deal. Do you realise that 8-10 years after TJ has retired the bloke we pick up at 14 will still be playing. Were not being dudded, "like we always do". Pathetic, lowly Melbourne supporters whingeing at the sun. Grow up.
  5. And it's a massive problem because the AFL sees our finances and wants some stability so that were not throwing our cash into recruitment agencies and constant advertisements for positions. Anyway hopefully CC can stem the flow because he really is a hell of a bloke. Not enough was written about CC accepting a job behind the bloke who beat him for Head Coach, takes a big man to do it.
  6. Thankfully, we have kept our pick open in the PSD. We have a great chance to snare some uncontracted talent. Essendon are trying to get Brennan to go into the PSD and they have pick 5. Who knows who we might get...maybe Brennan...that would be high calibre funniness.
  7. A top 15 pick for a 28 yr old with 3 years left (approx) is a good deal. If you can't see that then you really enjoyed Travis playing his 5 excellent games a year, although you must not have been to the rest where he was awful. Rose coloured glasses are fine during the season but only pragmatists will survive trade week.
  8. Poor old VFL and the stigma it carries. Remember, Priddis and Lynch were in the WAFL before WCE picked them up. Westhoff aswell in the SANFL. Give this blokes a go, can't be much worse than what C.Johnson has shown. Also, he is behind Bell, Petterd, Whelan, Wheatley, Bode etc. Maybe a change of club will give him a better crack.
  9. This is such ridiculousness, about the draft being shallow and all that. I mean all drafts going back to the start would be comparable to each other. It's just hard to tell what a 17 yr old will become in a few years. Recruiters just trying to tell their bosses that the degree of difficulty in accurately assessing talent is huge. Case in point: James Hird was a ballerina picked up at 70 something, there were plenty of people wrong then as he became one of the greatest players of all time.
  10. So its TJ for Pick 14. Hard to wrap my head around. Take it. It's a top 15 pick for a bloke who is talent without dedication. He's 28. Travis will always be welcome back to the club he played so many frustrating games with. When his career with Brisbane is finished of course...
  11. I hope its CEO Harris that is rumoured to leave. He is apparently so hard to deal with that 80 - 90 percent of our staff have left since he came on board. Used to be in charge of The Age and he really rubs people the wrong way. The AFL have been concerned with our massive turnover, and its no wonder. It's a problem that needs to be fixed, costs a sh!tload of many to replace people. And we are on a tight budget...
  12. Because we have him on a large contract and don't get the return on it. I love TJ. It'll be hard to see him leave, but sometimes you wonder whether his heart is in it. As soon as you think that about a player, its time to move on.
  13. People in Perth would have the least idea of what's going on. We are all in Melbourne, nearest to the Dome and we've got no idea at all.
  14. Rivers is too important to trade. Simple as that, but don't undersell Reilly. He's Cam Bruce with a decent kick. And he can get his own ball. You know what, he's better than Cam Bruce.
  15. No, we need another tall back but... Watt was pushing him out of the side... That's enough for me to say no.
  16. Don't get rid of talent just to get rid of it. If we get a very good offer, then let TJ go. Otherwise, try and get some value out of him in his last 3/4 years on the field. Not everyone has to 23 and under. In fact that would be unworkable with so much youth. You need senior leaders. If we have any...
  17. I'm not sure what your point is. If you're saying we have a history of not developing potential into actual then I agree.
  18. Depends what the price is... He's no real improvement on what we've got.
  19. P. Johnson will 23 next season. Still young, can take a mark, great skills for a big bloke. The problem is he is 6'5 playing like he's 5'10. I think Bailey would back himself to build him into a ruckman or FF/FP. Don't get rid of him, get something out of him.
  20. Oh, and by the way. I love Schwarta. I feel better now, how dare I have a go at the great man.
  21. High profile footballer? Just have a listen to Schwarta on SEN and you'll realise that being a footballer or an ex-footballer in the media entitles you to know nothing but claim you know something with such auhority that people believe you. Poor old Adelaide, look like losing 2 good ruckmen for 3rd round picks or nothing.
  22. Not only would WCE have to put that up but Travis would have to agree to go to Perth. Not gonna happen.

    Adem Yze

We're all arguing over Yze as if his presence was an underlying reason for our poor performance in 2007, or that he will drive our resurgence next year. 2008 will be defined by the incidence of injuries to key players (as all seasons at all clubs are) and the development of a young midfield group and the mental capacity of our 'senior' players. A FP coming back from injury is not what we should worry ourselves about.
  24. Yeah, cause I hate it when coaches look to build a team going backward.

    Adem Yze

IMO most people have underestimated Yze during his career. Soft? yeah, but so is Green. (And don't mention the 3 occasions in ran back with flight this year, they only stick in the memory because he never shows any courage) Frontrunner? yeah, but so is Melbourne. His days, how many he has left will be as a FWD Pocket. Criticise him all you like, he is one of the few players that can get 12 touches in that position and kick 5 goals. Could be very valuable.
