  1. Over-reacted. I was looking for it. Didn't find it. And went a little... Apologies AW.
  2. This is the line I don't like. No-one is saying that you cannot comment on the actions of the FD, but to put this line above in when someone comments on your comments is infuriating. And it is self-righteous. I should know...
  3. What self-righteous indulgence! I'm neck deep in this thread but lather it has been and plenty of posters have made a statement similar to: 'if the FD made this deal, they're mad!' That is 'casting aspersions.' And we can have our forums, but we also have to put up with other posters coming on and saying 'you're all a bunch of wankers.' If you don't like comment on your comments - get a blog and disable the comments.
  4. The trades are hardly the same because in the mooted one we would push back 5 places in the first round, not lose a first round pick.
  5. You're not asking a question. But you can ask that non-question to the FD - their the ones into him with a powerful will. Been talking to him for months.
  6. He's, what, 19? And who will play the other 17-14 games? No-one? Great structure we are going to forge. Jamar needs help and we need a big lump to kick it to in the square. I would love to get Jesse White but we can't. And I can't tell you why we are interested, but I can tell you the FD has been chatting to Hale's management since June/July of this year. So they want him pretty badly.
  7. Well, if you said 'maybe', no worries. Another rule of forums wasn't aware of: The inclusion of maybe in a post relieves said poster of any responsibility to the post in perpetuity. Note: If the post turns out to be true, the 'maybe' then becomes irrelevant and the post & and relevant poster received credit that is due forthwith.
  8. Thanks, BB59. Let's be honest, though. You are the hardest person to read on this board. You are not giving him enough credit because it isn't fresh in the mind. The Bulldogs game this year was impressive. Look, he has his limitations but no-one in our forward line has his tank, no-one. No. No-one. Why are you arguing? No-one.
  9. Pelchen (Hawks Rec Man) thinks it's between Hawks and Melb, with Melb well down the track because of the contract work we have done. It's fair to say that we were the club that had a chat in June/July this year. Pelchen is pretty keen.
  10. We might have offered more security (longer term) in exchange for a modest pay cut and a new contract.
  11. Bate's best is a very hard leading HFF type that he does better than any at the club at the minute. Watts getting there though. I repeat: If you regain form Matthew, you can play AFL for Melbourne in 2011 and beyond. Is that less generic?
  12. There is a place for him in the 22 if he can regain form. Dunn has got his spot at the minute, perhaps. But Lynden is, as Lynden does... I wouldn't be trading out either because I couldn't tell you which one of them is going to be 'on' in 2011.
  13. That post came from incredulity not malice. I only single out the great ones, WYL. You know that...
  14. So we recruit a tall winger to be ruck? The reason why Bailey is going after the Hale-type is to kill (or fill) two holes in our 22 with the same player: 1. Tall FP or the 'get-out' forward 2. A back up ruck to help Jamar Brennan helps the second; but he is slight so I don't know by how much. He doesn't help the first need though.
  15. Fraser is arguably more of a winger than PJ. The market will decide Hale's worth. It's just a shame that we have a cashed up, pick-ed up, competitor up north, jacking up the prices. Let's not forget - some on here are just as delusional about the worth of our trade bait. Warnock is worth a top 20 pick?! Maric similarly over-rated.
  16. Did deluded reply to one of my posts 4 times? That's some post. But my favourite reply would have had to have been a lazy WYL not reading my post closely and claiming I was 'riddling' with him. WYL is a national treasure on this place. Cherish him people, he won't be here forever. He's camp, really. Puts a smile on your face.
  17. No two teams are the same. They have ruckmen, we have a ruckman. Who needs help.
  18. Or the MFC do the deal; get Hale and then who they wanted at Pick 12 is still there at 17. Check. Mate.
  19. You're not convincing me here. Who we pick with 12 in 2010, or who we pick with 17 in 2010, will pale in significance to who we picked in 2007, 08, and 09. Again, some supporters are stuck in this 'draft week is the be-all and end-all of football fortunes' mindset. We have raided the past three drafts and got some great talent. That mindset was a buttress when we were sh!te, and we have got some amazing talent from those drafts. What we didn't get was a buck-up ruck/fwd to help Jamar. We want one don't we? Well guess what boys and girls - they don't grow on trees, you have to pay for it.
  20. That kid? Probably, be playing a Casey if he's a mid. Definitely playing at Casey if he is a tall defender, or mobile forward. If he is a tall forward then he will be fighting it out with Gawn and Fitzpatrick. We have the talent. Everywhere. Let's get some help for Jamar next year.
  21. Potential AA? Fight fair, now. Pick 12 - Quality Pick 17 - Questionable When is the threshold? 15? Is it the same threshold in all drafts? Does it change when all the 17 year olds are taken by one club? So the point is, as you say, you don't think Hale is worth it. The FD evidently disagree, and so do I, Jamar needs help, we have had enough (more than enough) quality picks over the last few years. Let's get a 22 next year that can do something.
  22. 12 of those boys are WAY better than the others. The only problem: We won't know which 12 for many years. The only answer: Never trade out of the top 12? No. Build a time machine.
  23. If you are going to play this game, I know alot of people love this game (Very quick with the draft results too BTW), then you have to let me have everyone picked after Pick 17 too... But you won't let me. Because it blows your argument out of the water. We are picking teenagers here. The judgement of the recuiting team is what you are questioning, not the difference between Pick 12 and Pick 17.
  24. Oh, ROTA... Putting words in my mouth? You might get away with that on BF. But not here. Never here. There is a difference. Set of steak knives difference. Might be enough to tip them over while still keeping us in the first round. And 'our drafting fate in our hands?' I think we have been to used to being at the pointy end of the draft, we have young talent in every position. What we don't have is an acceptable back-up for Jamar who happens to be an AA player and who doesn't get a rest in games. If the FD wants to take a calculated risk to do that, I say Jolly-good show. We Ottens let them go for it then.
  25. Explain the difference, the amazing difference, in talent between 12 and 17 and maybe those members will stick with you. Otherwise, when they calm down - they'll be with me.
