  1. I care. It's not every day you walk away from a loss happy. Knowing it was better for your team. Knowing there was a direct correlation between this club winning a flag and what Jordan McMahon did after the siren on that day.
  2. I just want to claim that trade back from the bombers now. We whinged about it for so long... Nick Smith and Chris Heffernan for Jason Laycock. We won that deal. What a nothing trade that was...
  3. I'm guessing you are younger than the rest of us... That's all i'll say... And i'm 25! Put up with too much crap to care about being called a 'tanker' we did what Collingwood did to get Pendles and Daisy. Does anyone think they feel embarrassed about that?
  4. ALWAYS WANT MELBOURNE TO WIN!! YOU'RE NOT A REAL SUPPORTER IF YOU DON'T WANT MELBOURNE TO WIN!! EVERY GAME IS IMPORTANT AND WE NEED TO TRY TO WIN EVERY GAME!! Wahh! Whenever someone accuses your club of tanking in 09 - your smile, you wink, you mention Trengove's form, and you let them stew in your arrogance. Don't be so naive, any and every club would have done the same. If they had the balls to do it...
  5. I go nucking futs when I sit by myself. I need my mates to laugh off those moments that you inwardly can't stand: Brucey's helicopters, Beamer's no-hopers, PJ's presence, Newton's presence, etc.
  6. This man, and the very soft spot I have for him, does kind of fly in the face of those people who... ALWAYS WANT MELBOURNE TO WIN!! YOU'RE NOT A REAL SUPPORTER IF YOU DON'T WANT MELBOURNE TO WIN!! EVERY GAME IS IMPORTANT AND WE NEED TO TRY TO WIN EVERY GAME!! Thank you very much Jordan. I'm welling up...
  7. You didn't take DOF seriously did you?
  8. To be fair Billy - you were arguing he is our only option AND that he is a good option. He is not suitable but I agree that he may be around in Rd 1, 2011. Pick 32 should be where we target a 21-25 year old FP/ruck from the state leagues. If that is Sinclair so be it, but there must be a prospect out there worth more of a punt than PJ. We have flogged that dead horse ad finitum.
  9. The role he needs to play is someone who is a long target and a threat in a pack mark. He would prefer to avoid contact and plays like it. He is no long target. When he has done well in the forward line (a below par definition of 'well') it is as a lead up forward. And another one of those is what we don't need.
  10. It isn't so much the KPF but the need to have a suitable back-up for Jamar that has an alternative primary role so we can play an extra runner. And I don't want Jurrah or Watts at the top of the square forming the pack - I would prefer Watts on a lead and Jurrah hitting the top of the pack. But you still need that long target.
  11. That drafting for needs does not mean that those needs will be immediately filled. We need a tall FF/ruck. Who are some saying could hold it down in 2011? Gawn and Fitzpatrick. They are not ready. They were not drafted to fill a need in 2011, but 2014. Drafting for needs works with kids that come on quickly - mids. Drafting for needs with tall players means you have to look 3+ years down the track at least.
  12. Just because you are playing them does not equate to 'fast-tracking' their development. Of course, their development would be aided by AFL footy, but can we afford to carry a kid who isn't ready? I don't think we can, and I don't think we would be doing him (or Gawn) any favours by playing them when they are not ready. Increasing, unnecessarily and cruelly, the expectations on them
  13. ^This. Please understand this, people. Jack Fitpatrick and Max Gawn would love for you to get it.
  14. As Old55 intimated - you're arguing to draft a certain way becasue of trading practices. Massive difference.
  15. 'Fast track his improvement'? Now why didn't I think of that? Easier said than done. Kids take a while, tall kids take an eternity.
  16. Oh my god. Please tell me the rest of you don't want this.
  17. I'm with you. Watts and Jurrah will be around for a decade. We need a FF/FP who can relieve Jamar. Darling doesn't have the height for it.
  18. This is either a really early post, or really late...
  19. Someone has to relieve Jamar during the first half aswell, HT. The backup ruck cannot be the sub. Won't work.
  20. You touch on it later, I know, but the idea is you have to 'hide' this relief ruckman in another position as another ruckman on the bench would make a team lose run against a team without a ruck on their bench. We are trading for one because we don't have an adequate player for this FF/ruck and taller players mature later than smaller players so the draft isn't an option. Unless there is a hidden gem playing state footy somewhere. Do we need a 'real good player'? Clark or White would be two players off the top of my head that would be very valuable. Hale would have been, and probably will be, a role player - he doesn't need to be great. More than half of our premiership team won't be 'great' players. PJ didn't play for half of those 'last 4 games' so I guess his output wasn't bad in that it minimised his mistakes... He isn't going to do it. I don't think it 'good conventional wisdom' to have a backup ruck as the 22nd man. Jamar needs a rest throughout the first three quarters so he can 'run-out' every game throughout the year. One of the 21 should be able to adequately back up Jamar, and needs to have another primary position so we are not 'carrying' him. I really think it makes sense.
  21. We got rid of Cheney and he was under contract...
  22. "Dunn could be a CHF over time." I suppose that 'could' and 'over time' water down your statement. Perhaps I am missing more forum etiquette about such watering down procedures? And, hey, no need to get emotional... Dunn is a good, ordinary player. He is a role player that needs to conitnue to step up or he will find himself out of the 22. I really struggle to see how he can bring about such high praise when he has played half a season of consistent footy.
