  1. I have little sympathy for him but no animosity. I do love the story of his exit though, Bailey used him to stamp his authority on the group. Always good to hear those stories.
  2. I would be sending a represenative from Reach to meet with him, rather than the MFC... Some want to play footy without the pressure of the AFL, some need to play footy without the pressure of AFL footy. He's not ready upstairs to play footy in the AFL - why push it?
  3. Yeah, you do. You're the most disappointed in the people you love. He pulls out of contests, he short steps. So, what? It's only a problem if he doesn't grow out of it. Some on here think he's perfect. Get a grip.
  4. Well researched S. Ruckmen take ages. That is why I started that 'Backing Jamar' poll - too many people expect these kids to grow into their bodies and deliver far sooner than nature will allow. Quit setting yourselves up for a fall and stop expecting Spencer to come on next year in any meaningful way, let alone Gawn and Fitzpatrick. There was a reason we went after Hale. I have come to the point where, as we are not in contention next year, we should give Spencer and extended run even if he is struggling to make an impact. I realise that won't be ideal but we have to start forcing that structure that we want in the future, even if some of the players aren't ready.
  5. Ruckmen take ages. I really hope that this mentality isn't applied to a 20 year old Gawn or Fitzpatrick. Setting them up for a fall at the minute with the glowing praise and expectation - JCB even said he would be the third player he would draft out of everyone on our list... I wonder how we perceived Jamar when he was 20/21. Expecting a ruckman to "do something" inside of three years of being drafted is hardly fair.
  6. Well said. Often forgotten is the art of knowing how to drip-feed your deletions. The modern game demands it.
  7. He was my pick to start 2011 with Jamar. I really want him to work on using his size to his advantage. We'll see how he goes...
  8. I was getting self-righteous and arrogant. This post mirrors that sentiment. Let's move on shall we? Players are going to get critiqued - they seem to deal with it, can the supporters?
  9. I really would like to know where this 'viciousness' is located. If you get it AFL footy you are going to have to deal with constant judgement of your abilities.
  10. I have never become personal about players - it is not about them as people, it is about them as footy players and on that we are all guilty of judgement. Both negative and positive. If I was going to accuse anyone of making this personal - I would start with yourself. I mean, honestly? My comments in this thread get that?
  11. I did some good work in that thread... Tee hee.
  12. I have no problem with these new 'plastic clubs.' The fact is - we should have two clubs in the heathen states, the AFL is in a fantastic position to push into there, and the alternative to these 'plastic clubs' is the relocation of the established ones the OP loves so much. It is such a no-brainer that I really get tired of this crap. I have moved recently to Canberra and this place is ripe for the effing picking all the way up to Campbelltown. Rugby League is a little kid playing with his .... and Union is [censored] boring.
  13. When Newton holds down a spot in our backline in 2011 you can ridicule me. For all I know - and it is quite a bit - Newton will not go 'well' down back. Jeez, one half-decent season & a Jurrah inspired exhibition win and suddenly we are happy to posit that a 24 rookie-listed player is suddenly capable of turning his career around with the evidence of a decent game in a 16 a side, VFL-intensity, exhibition match half a world away... I don't know how to quantify this...
  14. Yes, then one response: No. And then lock the thread.
  15. I don't give this argument much creedence. So what if Garland or Frawley go down? Do you really think that Newton can adequately replace them? To anywhere near their level? Depth for depth's sake, that is.
  16. Rule No.6 of Demonland: Posters who take meaningful things out of exhibition games may be, and are encouraged to be, ridiculed for said argument. Spencer is getting better, but Sunday told us nothing other than Liam Jurrah can, and would like to, play footy all year round...
  17. I can tell you right now that Newton is not apart of their 'premiership plans.' How do I know? They delisted him last year and picked him up as a rookie to honour the last year of his contract. It's hardly a ringing endorsement of the bloke's footballing ability.
  18. If the number of personnel won you flags, the magpies would have won the last ten. Maybe West needed Williams' assistance for various reasons, maybe we felt obliged to have him help West for various reasons, and maybe he doesn't need that help anymore. The more voices barking at you, the more confused you get. But that is just me.
  19. Rule # (I don't know, let's say)6 of DLand Posters who take meaningful things out of exhibition games may be, and are encouraged to be, ridiculed for said argument. Thems the rules...
  20. The best I can put together is that he was in 2010 - part midfield coach and part dev coach, considering he wasn't mentioned in the club press release concerning the dev side, he is either fired or a dedicated mid coach which would mean we have two midfield coaches. I think your structure could work.
  21. The progression of talent will make or break Bailey's tenure. It really doesn't matter if Blease is ripping it up or not if other talents come to the fore. The progression of Scully, Trengove, Morton, and McKenzie would have more bearing on his coaching fortunes. Aswell as the form of this incredible backline they have managed to construct and Watts, Jurrah, and Petterd up forward. Your best players can make successes of lesser players. Those 5 are not the top echelon of our talent. I think it might be time to update who we think will be our top 6 players next year. The greater the talent at the top end, the less other players are asked to do, and the better they can fulfil their roles.
  22. Has anyone called E25 the equivalent of a [censored]? Now THAT is a rhetorical question... Not a critique, E25. Just an observation...
