  1. Hello. I should have said just 'jackaub.' Apologies. I'm glad Land have embraced greetings in posts now... As long as we don't end every post with Cheers... Hate that.
  2. Hello?! You two mustn't have read a lot of this thread...
  3. Incredible!! You got shouted down for writing off a teenager in his first season?! Sometimes, the world makes you feel better when you realise the masses aren't that stupid afterall.
  4. Poor Aussie. Footy becomes a little less important at times like these. Take your time, try to stay fit, and be with your loved ones for as long as you're needed.
  5. Ahh, you know rpfc well...
  6. I guess that depends on you and a few others, doesn't it? Discussion ends when minds are changed or people come to their senses.
  7. Nah, he wouldn't be. They're kids picked over and over again by pundits and once by those with the most stake. There are only 'bolters' and 'sliders' years after the fact when you know, and it's not subjective, that that player was worth, or not worth, the investment made.
  8. You should do the same. We would have kept Bruce in 2012 in a heartbeat if he was fit and healthy. We had noone eligible for the VL until 2013. We just didn't want to risk having $300k tied up in a 33 crock if the unthnkable happened. He wants a flag, it's got little to do with the MFC and everything to do with Cameron the Bruce and his ego.
  9. FFS BM! We offered an 11 year vet $300k to stay on the effing list! He wants to win a flag, fine. I just wish he would come out and say that and not tacitly throw this BS about our negotiations around. Read between the lines BM.
  10. It's a fair question. It's about who is loudest. Everyone knows that the louder you are the better your leadership.
  11. Well, we celebrate one of our posters giving a three word analysis of each players' game... A couple of sentences I'm happy with.
  12. The part on the left looks very good. There are probably better pictures going around but maybe a semi-regular update when those perfect pictures are found. Other than that - it looks great.
  13. RE: Canberra Get a girlfriend/boyfriend or you will hate the place. RE: Rogue & Other Clubs Fans Yes, but when there is a choice between inward navel gazing and handwringing and stubborn, arrogant defiance, Melbourne supporters love to go the first port of call. I realise I am navel gazing, but it's the good type of self-reflection. It's the kind that doesn't blame AFL conspiracies, our 'victim status', or our lot in life, for all the things we believe 'are being done to us.'
  14. I meant Melbourne Football Club. And I don't live in Canberra, I live in a very northern Melbourne suburb...
  15. Yes, but it's very Melbourne...
  16. It is thoughtful... I assume you are being sarcastic? I would have wondered why we were trading a player against his will, out of thin air, for pointless return. I would have preferred he stay, like the club. But I am not about to apply what we know now to a decision during trade week that would have been incongruous and not understandable then.
  17. Getting back to Old's incredible question - what would you have said if we traded Bruce for pick 45? What if we did that trade when he hadn't made up his mind yet? What would the people think then about the way we treat our players? Stop applying hindsight to decision - it is metaphysical impossibility, intellectual wankery, and a waste of time.
  18. In fact, under FA, Bruce leaving at this stage after trade week would have provided us a draft pick. That is the system in baseball, I am sure about that. Not sure about others.
  19. They are going to give him a second year trigger so hypothetically: He could play the first 15 games and get 2012 automatically, then he could do his hammy be out for 5 come back and do it again ala Buckley (as per your previous example regarding Junior...). So now, in this hypothetical situation, Hawthorn has $250/300k tied up in an injured 33 year old in 2012. Is that what we would like to see at the Demons? You get one year when you over 30 - why? Because our talent derives from the 2007-2009 drafts. 30 year olds are 10 years older than our talent - why should we give them longer contracts?
  20. It makes sense. If anyone, or nearly anyone, other than E25 said that you wouldn't have noticed. There is no point in trading for depth. If there is a role for a bloke, there has to be a significant chance that he could be given said role. Otherwise, what is the point?
  21. We have been trying to tell everyone. He is an arrogant wuckfit and I have complete confidence that he won't be the first list management mistake under Bailey.
  22. Very good but... The font for demonland is a bit cartoonish. Time for that gothic one. Something assertive. Cheers rpfc
