  1. I agree that there are too many excuses for this team, but I would say that the majority of articles about the Demons are not about our 'too easily satisfied' culture or our pathetic on-field leadership, but about you-know-who, and wether Connols and Schwab and Bailey are having Dawson's Creek style tiffs with each other. So the journos have held a torch this year, but on the right issues? I would say no.
  2. I know some mods tire of the "mod attitude" they can get from the members of Land from time to time, and like to be apart of gen pop... That's the only half-serious reason I have seen.
  3. Definitely out of flavour.
  4. You love your semantical escapes don't you? You could just realise you're a hypocrite and move on. Hi, I'm rpfc, an arrogant know-it-all, and you are?
  5. Agree. Agree.
  6. I know you're not, but Land has higher standards than the Hun or SEN...
  7. Thanks for the tip, Hannabal. I will keep it in mind, I truly will. You must like your pseudonyms as much as the person your viciously berated a couple of months ago.
  8. I apologise. Some posts deserve it.
  9. You really need to find out where I am referencing that line from... And you were banned because you were tacitly (and consistently) inferring that an MFC player was a liar.
  10. I can't remember any sportsman revealing that cash was their motivator...
  11. Why would anyone want to leave Serenity? I can't think of a reason. Still think he will stay. I'm happy to discuss hypothetical compensation, that's fine. Especially when people have this strange notion that pick 10 and 20 is the equivalent of a pick 1 (Tom Scully) and that those two picks will somehow get us TWO of those 17 year olds... And Mike doesn't know. He really doesn't. And we have gone over this, but journos putting their reputation on the line is meaningless - they give each other their reputation and nothing bad happens to them when they are wrong. Nothing. Look at whoever it was that outed the vilified Gold Coast player - I can't remember who it was because nothing happened to them. You need to be less naive about this particular issue. Tom will let you know in September.
  12. What tune is that? I am not the one with a decision to make in September. I am glad to see Tom vindicated - he hasn't signed. And we await his decision. In the event he leaves we get adequate compensation - assuming we trade it for an established player - so that base is covered. If he does sign it will be on terms we can afford - so that base is covered. So we play the waiting game...
  13. This thread is BS. Green isn't a media performer and doesn't choose his word well when under pressure. People here are putting far more thought into Brad's words than Brad did. Get your hands off it.
  14. Understandable for people to feel like this, but don't come on here complaining about the Tigers and their Tiger Fund that is designed to go over and above their debt and push cash into their footy dept and into luring a free agent after 2012. This was bound to happen. They are going to go to all their revenue streams and ask for more money. It isn't great and we would all love to be Collingwood. We are not there yet. Personally, I would be more horrified if they didn't ask that question of fans, but that's just me.
  15. I don't know. Anyone? Jus' spitballin... Throwin' it out there...
  16. Ugh. Cue: If that's all you can give to a discussion...blah...blah
  17. lol My support of the Dees isn't dependent on us keeping Tom Scully OR Colin Sylvia. I want to keep them both, on a price that allows us to do the things we want to do (sign up Trengove, target a star in FA). The club knows that keeping Colin is important, but at the right price. If he thinks he could get an extra $50k elsewhere and leave us after we kept him going through his constant injuries and personal issues then that is his issue. As a fan, I want to keep our best players, but if they don't want to stay then my next question isn't "who else am I going to support?" it's "let's wring all we can out of this guy's value."
  18. As I am out of the finals race, for all intents and purposes, I just want to say that I enjoyed this. For some reason I liked it better than Supercoach, I think it's purely because of the draft - only one person can have Ablett, Franklin, etc. The trading process needs some cooler heads with regard to vetoing, but other than that it was fun. If someone wants to remind me in Feb next year I will be on it like DK...
  19. We won't progress until the 'senior' players are Grimes, Jones, Watts, Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, et al. Green, Davey, Moloney, Rivers, and Sylvia cannot drive us to where we want to go. Green and Davey have, of course, been down. Rivers and Sylvia are anything but consistent - although I am holding them to a higher standard, but that is the burden of being a senior player. And Moloney is a good leader, but doesn't back it up in big games. In all thrashings this year - bar Coll - Brent hasn't cracked 20 touches. His bad games have to get better or he won't lose the 'beating up on poor sides' tag that some have given him. This isn't doom and gloom, the talent may come on, in large measure, next year. But the club has to take a risk and attempt to fast track them by giving them the Leadership Group, and then choosing their captain. If it's Brent, then fine. If it's Green, I'd be surprised but that's fine too. We need them to take over the club soon and drive us to where we want to be.
  20. I do make sweet music with the keyboard... The difference is the current movement of the negotiations? Sylvia's contract is apparently at an unhappy impasse. How is that better than one that is scheduled for September? Comparing Colin and Tom is a subjective nightmare. But if was in charge of any club, looking for someone for the next 5 years and beyond, I know which footballer and individual I would want...
  21. And we are beginning to pile it on ourselves.
  22. You do realise that he is still an MFC player right? FFS people, calm down.
  23. Disappointing last couple of pages really. If we were in his shoes we wouldn't have an issue - we would all pay to play for the Dees... So stop trying to "be in his shoes." It's a big decision and we can wait, whether the club wants to or not, and he has his self-interest at heart, of course he does. A persons contract is inherently a selfish proposition. With two contracts that are unlikely to change, Tom waiting does not make him more selfish. And, an injured player suddenly doesn't have a lot of "time off," in fact it is probably the opposite. To turn around now and make a decision is giving in to the BS that has flewn about. If I had his ear I would say "Frack 'em, make the decision when you repeatedly told them you would." And it is complete MFCSS to construct a future where both scenarios are terrible for the MFC. As in - 1. We lose our best players. 2. We have an overpayed dud. 3. The attention this is bringing is hurting the club. In this scenario, the present and any future leads to the MFC being screwed. Healthy...
  24. So we can't compare the timing of the Scully-Sylvia contracts, but we can compare their inherent market value?
